The original party dies with Zeke.
I sure hope Steef and Moose found a nice dwarven village to live out the rest of their lives in safety.

I'm going to live anyways. I have no fear.

Jones Studies the Elemental, then puts all his energy into a single strike.
Studied Strike: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (14) + 14 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 9 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 9 + (1, 6) = 17
Zin'Retatarianna Mor |
elementals are immune to precision damage, fyi

Unfortunately, she is correct. So after DR, you only dealt 3 damage. I was kind of hoping you would SHOOT him, or throw Alchemist's Fire or something, not step in to melee. Whirlwind is not limited to picking up one enemy. I really don't want to kill off half the party. Argh.
Jones Ref 1: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25
Safe!
Zin Ref: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Safe! Barely.
Elemental Ref vs Flaming Sphere: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Also safe. You guys are up.

Get rekt!
Scorching ray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6, 6) = 19
Scorching Ray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 1) = 9

Save the only reason it was even within hurt range was from the first arrow into it and The GM being nice with the hammer. Darius isnt stupid
Darius Ral'algul |
Darius opens the door to see Jones and Z still alive , " Hrmph.. it must have been a spell.. there is little other reason you two are still alive while Zeke had fallen. "
Zin'Retatarianna Mor |
"Plenty of reason, we had the stomach to finish the fight."
Looking to Jones and Bulldozer, "Could Zeke have survived that fall? You all know him better that I. I assume him dead."
"If so, what is our course of action? Shall we continue on? "

Jones Shei'lac |
"I only met him minutes before you and Darius did. I don't know him any better than you."
"In any case, alive or dead, there's nothing we can do for him now. Let's press onward."
Zin'Retatarianna Mor |
Z shrugs, "I've had to use a fair share of my magical reserves already, too many more rights like this and I'll need to rest."

" Are you questioning my ability to fight woman? I was no less ready to kill said creature, when safety was assured. But if you wish to continue we can, stop wasting all your spells before you become useless.. and unable to 'Finish the Fight' "
Jones Shei'lac |
Let's goooooooooooooooooo
Jones Shei'lac |
Jones first checks the door for traps.
Take 10 + insp: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 = 30.
If he doesn't find any, he (and presumably everyone else) will go through.

The original party dies with Zeke.
I sure hope Steef and Moose found a nice dwarven village to live out the rest of their lives in safety.
Don't you worry, Steef's having the time of his life being a nasty-ass hobo with his buddy Moose, who's very much living up to his name, at least size-wise. He actually turned out to be one hell of a deterrent to muggers, so now Steef actually has some money to his name. Not much, but enough to get him back home to his family, who was unpleasantly surprised to find out he was still alive and kicking. Happy endings for everyone!
Also RIP Azrin and Zeke you shall be missed.
Rynjin |
Jones finds no traps.
Not that a 30 would have detected the Air Elemental trap anyway.
The door opens on a very comfortable looking great hall, with a picture of who you presume to be the Count himself, standing smiling with his hand placed proudly on the shoulder of the Beast, who kneels comfortably on one knee staring out at ythe camera.
Once inside you see a convenient switch labeled "Trap ON/OFF" next to the door. It has been planetd firmly in the ON position, and the lever snapped off.
A fireplace stands in the middle of the room, with a door a few feet to its left, and a set of stairs heading upwards set to the right.
A whirring noise comes from under the stairs and some...thing shows itself. It is a creature of whirring gears, wire, and some fleshy bits that seem more for decoration than purpose. It points one of its hook hands at the group and makes more whirring noises.
"Unauthorized visitors detected. Please leave at once. You have 6 seconds to comply." comes the sound from a pair of disgustingly fleshy lips on its chest.
Darius Ral'algul |
Darius seems ready to whip the thing, though not sure yet what it may be able to do
Know Arcana(Monster Lore): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Darius Ral'algul |
" Ofcourse, this maniac is smitten with constructs.. Oh well.. Begone, we have to meet you master. " placing his hand out a blazing cross appears an out shoots a spiritual Scimitar to strike the creature as Darius steps back.
Spiritual Weapon: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 201d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Rynjin |
Darius whacks the construct for 0 damage.
Not even your max damage can bust Hardness 10 there, so I don't really see the point in mentioning it from here on.
4d20 ⇒ (14, 17, 12, 17) = 60
1d20 ⇒ 11
Darius (24)
Zin (21)
Jones (18)
Bulldozer (18)
Hobbling Hook-Clawed Apparatus (10)
Back to the top of the Init, everybody is up.
Darius Ral'algul |
I didnt hit it at all it was as a spell not a weapon. Not really sure if Fore does well or not against Hardness wanted to see. If It doesnt I would have used something else.
Darius Ral'algul |
Actually DR doesnt apply to falling and falling objects dont get hardness against it I believe, Change the spell to Divine Favor. The only isue that came up was when I looked for Force... they didnt define it as an energy type... for some reason.
Rynjin |
Okie dokie, you're favored up. And you have a turn. It was quite surprised you didn't listen to its countdown.
Also it's a bit fuzzy but the rules on Hardness simply state that it applies to all damage dealt, so I figured falling too. For that matter I've always found it kinda doofy DR doesn't apply too so if it ever came up I'd probably rule DR applied as well, I have in other games.
Darius Ral'algul |
The reason being that you being tough applies to weapons striking against you and whatnot, that has zero help when it comes to the force of the entire world impacting every portion of your body and transferring energy through said body equally.
Darius sighs and steps back a little more chugging an extract and growing to great proportions.
Enlarge person Extract
Jones Shei'lac |
Jones drinks another Shield extract and Studies the construct.
Bulldozer the Unchained |
Bulldozer flies up to the machine, pulls down, and proceeds to divebomb it with a Power Attack.
Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26
"We aren't going on a windy walk here lads. Show some hustle."
Zin'Retatarianna Mor |
hmm it's got double cover on me and we're in tight spaces, so no scorching Ray, fireball or burning hands, must be time for BURNING SPHERE!
Burning Sphere: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1) = 5
Sigh. Damn this book and it's constructs.

ya'll should yell for help really loudly
Darius Ral'algul |
Hrm? We aren't in trouble. Gunna kill it soo just needed to change tactics. Dozer is doing fine.
Darius moves up and gets into position, where he drops his whip pulling the longsword in both hands and slashing down.
Divine Longsword Slash: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 212d6 + 12 ⇒ (5, 2) + 12 = 19
