Jones Shei'lac |

Jones gets into flanking with Darius and stabs it with his rapier.

Well seeing as it didn't burn Z is going to spend her turn shouting profanities against Alphonse Caromarc.

Samuel Sledge |

Scream for help already. I wanna slam.

Bulldozer the Unchained |

Bulldozer repeats with more accurate strikes.

Zin'Retatarianna Mor |

You're running into the painful confluence of doing half damage BEFORE subtracting 10. So anything energy-wise needs to deal at least 21 damage to do anything.
Profanity Intensifies.

Bulldozer smacks the Construct twice, hard, though not as much damage goes through this time.
1d2 ⇒ 1
The construct slams Bulldozer twice.
2d20 ⇒ (3, 7) = 10
Or tries to, but whiffs against the nimble, armored Duergar.
Round 3: Fight!

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius' feral senses seem to raise to a point and his sight changes. It more focused as outwardly it begins to cover in midnight fur and elongate. The snapping of bone and sinew reshaping was sickening, though recipient seemed not to notice. Eventually over the course of this and the last ventures.. Darius' morphing had ended.. he looked much like a Wolf.. standing on two legs wielding a sword now the size of a greatsword in both clawed hands.
A Howl escaped from his maw and He came down with the blade and a vicious bite.
Flanking Divine Longsword Slash: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 252d6 + 12 ⇒ (6, 6) + 12 = 24

Jones Shei'lac |

Jones pokes it again.

1d6 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13

Jones hits it in something vital, apparently, because the creature finally falls over despite the low power of the thrust.
4d20 ⇒ (18, 19, 20, 13) = 70
With the combat over, the group can take another look at the painting. In the background of it is another creature, hard to see, that appears to be some sort of four armed gorilla.

Jones Shei'lac |

Up the stairs.

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius raises and eyebrow as his wolflike head sniffs the air, checking the door for traps or if it was locked

Rynjin |

An ugly, bushy haired man lays sprawled on the bed. Even in sleep his form is massive, and he would tower over any in the party currently if he were upright (save, maybe, Darius with his Mutagenic form).
The room reeks of smoke and copper, as if someone has been burning pennies.
As you enter the room his eyes snap open and he awakes with a snort.

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius looks down at the man and speaks, half in a growl; " Who are you? " The wolfin Darius says his whip now in his hand coiled up cracking his knuckles in his other clawed one.

Samuel Sledge |

The huge man sits up and swings his legs off of the bed, setting them down onto the ground with a solid thump. "You're in my room, buddy. I'll ask the questions. Who the hell are you?"

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius spits on the ground and grins " Your room you say? How fittng. Are you the butler of Caromarc? Considering we were invited and so far there has been nothing but oddities.. trying to kill us. That might include you, assuming you arent the Beast's brother. "

Samuel Sledge |

"Who's Caromarc? I'm nobody's butler. And nobody's brother, leastways not anymore."
"Anyways, I asked your name."

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius smirks somehow with his new face, " Then why are you in his house using his rooms, much like the trolls in the front gate? How long have you been staying here? " Darius seems to Glare at him.

Samuel Sledge |

"Because this place is abandoned. I checked around a little bit, and besides some monsters that were easy enough to avoid, there's nobody home."
"And you never answered my question - who are you?"

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius sighs and gives his signature response " I am Darius of House Ral'Algul, A family of Chelaxian professional Hunters.. Monster Hunters to be Exact, More specifically of the Lycanthrope variety at it's core, though we do wipe out the other evils. And you are...? "

Samuel Sledge |

Sledge cracks his neck, his perceptive eyes evaluating the other members of Darius's group. He seems satisfied with what he sees, and says, "The name's Samuel Sledge. I'm a professional hobo."
"Also, I think it's only fair to ask, if you hunt werewolves, why in the hell do you look like one? 'He who hunts monsters'?"

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius seems mildly annoyed that it seems like Samuel Sledge insulted him. " A monster I have been called before for my expert ability at slaying said creatures but I am a proud Half-elven man. What else could you be speaking o- " As Darius swung his arm aloft he got a glimpse of it.. hair? No thats not right, it was thicker.. fur. Black Fur, slick like his hair, he touched his fingertips together.. claws.. he knew it would make him Feral.. but this was..odd. Placing his hand slowly up his neck and face.. the fur continued and the shape.. was vastly different. He would have questions, but at this time would get no answers.
" *cough* This... is simply a temporary.. mishap it seems. I am borrowing the strength of the creature and thus it seems my form has.. morphed. No matter. We will be going forth and clearing our way to Caromarc, you can enjoy your room. "

Samuel Sledge |

"Now hold up. I need to get out of here pretty soon and so do ya'll - and from what I've seen, this place is regularly crawling with nasties. There's safety in numbers, and I'm quite capable of carrying myself in a fight. Whaddaya say we work together?"

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius turns to the man and looks him over, " And what is it that you can do professional hobo? You may be somewhat large.. but otherwise I see nothing distinguishing about you.. save for the smell.. If you wish to leave the way back has been cleared, however there is a mob that wishes to burn down this place soon "

Samuel Sledge |

"I can beat the tar out of most things I run into. Plus, I came from that way, and I avoid going back the way I came - gotta keep moving forward, y'know?"

Samuel Sledge |

"Places like this almost never have one exit."

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius shrugged, " Well then, I see no reason for you not to as one of my faith. Leaving you behind would be a misdeed, never know when that Air elemental trap may go off again, and drop someone to their doom. Let's hope you are good as you say. " Darius turns around and walks away, exploring the other areas now.

Carrion Crown Treasure Monster |

There is a door (easily unlocked by Jones) in the Guest bedroom Sledge is staying in that leads onto a narrow balcony that gives a glorious view of the waterfalls. With no handrails.
The room across the hall is nearly identical, and contains nothing of any real value, besides comfortable beds.
In the next room, Darius' search reveals a number of valuable technical manuals, and a fine Jade and Gold writing set, and a fine ink jar with a silver clasp (worth 150 gp, 300 gp, and 50 gp respectively).
Jones Perception: 1d20 + 16 + 1d6 ⇒ (11) + 16 + (5) = 32
Jones, with help from Darius and Sledge, uncovers a hidden, locked cupboard in the final room (which appears to be the master bedroom).

Samuel Sledge |

Definitely trapped.

Samuel Sledge |

So can we just stand to the side and open it?

Carrion Crown Treasure Monster |

Jones can Take 10 and disable this trap with no issue.
The wardrobe is crammed with fine men’s clothing—10 noble’s outfits, six scholar’s outfits, and one royal outfit. One of the dressing table’s drawers contains a jewelry box holding a silver chain worth 50 gp, a gold snuff box set with a topaz worth 400 gp, a platinum-
handled magnifying glass in a leather case worth 600 gp, and a monocle with a silver chain ending in a diamond pin worth 800 gp. The secret cupboard contains several chests of coins totaling 2,000 gp, and an ivory figure of goats.
The ivory figure radiates magic.
Split the gold 4 ways, so 500 gp each for Bulldozer, Darius, Jones, and Zin.

Darius Ral'algul |

Darius looks over the figure and makes a simple overview of it before passing it to someone more skilled. In his current state thinking was difficult.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Jones Shei'lac |

Jones examines the figure.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 14 + 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 14 + (4) + 1 = 35
Also, it seems I made a mistake while I was making Jones. At one point he had Expanded Inspiration, which was then replaced with Mutagen, but I had forgotten to change the Inspiration stats to reflect that. I'll probably get it next level, but for now the only skills he can apply Inspiration to for free are Knowledge, Linguistics, and Spellcraft.

You're an Empiricist, they get Perception for free at 2nd level. Along with Sense Motive, Disable Device, and UMD.
But he is correct, Alchemists/Investigators need Identify to do stuff like that. I houseruled that you have a CL for most purposes, but you still need Detect Magic or something to actually identify items without an Identify extract.
