"Sadly no. The demons harried us, cut us off from our few safe hiding places before they attacked almost two days ago. In the ensuing skirmishes, three of the us were killed, and the demons captured our leader Lanverel and four others before we got away. We made our way back here in hopes of regrouping and then returning to save Lanverel." Cecilia says before her eyes widen in the direction of the former giant bug. She rushes over to the corpse and takes what seems to be a belt wrapped around one of its many legs. "This belonged to Lanverel. This is the work of a Hezrou named Fihralaz. He put it there to taunt us. He hasn't been in this region long and he just carved out a lair for himself in Tanglebriar. Fihralaz not only enjoys sending other creatures to do his dirty work but also delights in sending trophies of his victims back to their loved ones as a calling
card."

”What do you know about this Hezrou? Is he the sort to keep prisoners alive?”
The big man nods toward his companions. ”If there’s any chance they’re still alive, we have to mount a rescue.”

DM Amazing Red |

"If only to torture them. If you do this, we know how to reach his territory. We can draw you a map. But even with good directions, Tanglebriar is a difficult place to navigate. You can also make use of Lanverel's belt if it'll help along with some other things." Cecilia takes her pack and hands it to the group.
The belt is a belt of Dexterity +2. The pack contains 6 antitoxins, 2 potions of lesser restoration, and 3 potions of Cure Moderate Wounds.

Thunderhoof sorts through the offered consumables and offers the belt to Lini. ”If they’re still alive out there, we’ll bring them back.”
Let’s do it. Terrill and Lini are survivalmancers.

DM Amazing Red |

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Terrill aids Lini which means she auto succeeds at the survival check to the Claw Brush.
The trek through Tanglebriar weaves between trees drawn into moaning visages whose cracked bark sweats black sap. Tortured howls punctuate the constant buzzing of bloodred flies, and at times the ground itself seems to spasm as if alive. Approximately a mile from Mount Armiya, a twisting briar patch of arm-thick vines with thorns like armor spikes impedes further travel south, leaving only narrow gaps that a creature might step through. You can see that the briar stretches a mile and a half both east and west.
There is a Vrock scanning the top of the briar patch for victims.
You have 3 options here. You can fly over the briar patch, go around it which is about 3 miles or pick your way through the thorns.

Before they leave, Chjara asks for some symbol or unique piece of gear that their captain might bear, in precise and descriptive detail as the elves can bear to relate.
"Charming adventure. And I thought wandering around the worldwound was bothersome; I have now found new lows to experience."
Thorn avoidance: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 + 12 = 24 +5 if I can deflect, shield, or insight thorns out of the way. She will guidance herself periodically, and trust in her thick armor to protect her.

20 posts since I last checked! Awesome.
Survival + Armor Bonus for not taking full damage: 1d20 + 8 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 8 = 31
Survival, Aid Lini to not get lost: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20

DM Amazing Red |

I just realized that Lini is a druid and thus immune to this. But her kitty is not. So it will have to roll.
Lini and Terril make it through just fine, but Chjara and Thunderhoof both managed to get scratched. Thunderhoof takes 6 and Chjara takes 1. You can each give me a fort save versus a disease.
You do not get lost however due to the nome's wilderness savvy.

DM Amazing Red |

Yea 19 damage.
Droogami gets scratched up badly but he shakes off anything that might infect him. Chjara also shakes off whatever it is. Everyone made the save.
What was once the settlement of Kethalia is now a vinechoked ruin. Shattered white marble structures now stained with sap and filth still reflect what little light filters in. Rubble from collapsed levels obscures much of the ground, and, like ghouls from a grave, trees have tenaciously clawed their way through the debris, their roots expanding in all directions to buckle paving stones and crack mortar.
It becomes quickly apparent that demons or other beings stripped the settlement of anything valuable long ago. However, you do discover signs of an inhabitant in an old temple of Findeladlara, the elven goddess of art, architecture, and twilight. Inside you find a bedroll sized for a Small creature, several unfinished potions, and a portable alchemist’s lab. There are also stale bread crumbs in a nearby gallery. A trail leads from these buildings to a partially collapsed meeting hall.

"Perhaps this was the campsite of a gnome, or maybe a goblin. Those are the only creatures..." Chjara eyes Lini, and proceeds cautiously "...adventerous enough to practice alchemy in a place like this. Shall we investigate?"

DM Amazing Red |

As you walk towards it, you hear some mad cackling. You enter the ruined building to find what looks to be a gnome about to be tormented by 2 evil skeletal looking demons. Planes check.
1d20 + 19 ⇒ (11) + 19 = 30
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30
1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34
You suspect the gnome is not really what it seems to be. You think it may just be a puppet.
Dungeoneering check.
B: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
C: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
G: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
L: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
T: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Th: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Terrill is up.

Pregenerated PFS Character |

Could someone heal Droogami before we get there?
Lini has neither Dungeoneering nor Planes.
The gnome's eyes open wide at the sight, but a moment later they narrow in suspicion. "That... doesn't seem like a real gnome. I can feel it. But I'm not sure why. What do you think, Friend-Friend?"

![]() |

Knowledge (planes), Monster Lore: 1d20 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 3 = 20
Knowledge (dungeoneering): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 +3 more if Monster Lore applies
"I agree, Lini, there's something odd about that gnome," Terrill tells his companions as they enter the ruin, "looks more like a puppet to me." He takes a few steps towards the demons, running a hand along his blade as he moves. The blade hums briefly and takes on a silvery-purple glow.
Move to I22, cast divine favor for +3 attack and damage for 1 minute.
Status: 69/69 hp, Spells left: 3/5/4

DM Amazing Red |

The demons are babau. You get one fact. You don't know what could be puppeteering the gnome even with your monster lore.
Yea, you can retcon healing.
Terril bolsters his offense and moves forward. Seeing Terril cast some kind of spell, one of the demons will attempt to dispel it.
Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
The other demon will try the same.
Dispel Magic: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
But neither can overcome the power of Desna. Thunderhoof is up.

The sight of the demons sets the big shoanti off, prompting him to give voice to his ferocious and thunderous song.
+4 constitution (morale)
+2 will (morale)
-1 AC
No spellcasting
The benefits of raging grappler.

DM Amazing Red |

DR/ Cold Iron or Good. Immunity to Electricity and Poison. Resist Acid 10, Cold 10, Fire 10, Spell Resistance. They also have a protective acidic slime covering their bodies. Any creature that strikes a babau with a natural attack or unarmed strike takes acid damage from this slime if it fails a Reflex save. A creature that strikes a babau with a melee weapon must make a Reflex save or the weapon takes acid damage; if this damage penetrates the weapon's hardness, the weapon gains the broken condition. Ammunition that strikes a babau is automatically destroyed after it inflicts its damage.
Thunderhoof starts his song. Whatever creature is here will bide it's time. It will ready. Chjara, Lini, and Terrill are up.

Pregenerated PFS Character |

Oh... I looked for a healing thing on my sheet and didn't see any. Must've been dozing. Thanks.
Retcon CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 1) + 3 = 6
Retcon CMW: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (8, 8) + 3 = 19
Droogami is full now.
Unsure of what's happening but sure that there's about to be trouble, Lini touches her big feline friend's haunch in concern. "Be careful, Friend-friend! Go get 'em!" Cast barkskin.
With a rawr of assent the massive furball heads for its target! Can he charge? What are the outlines next to the Bs?

Pregenerated PFS Character |

If he can charge B2, he'll do that.
Charge! (charge, GMF, rage): 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 1 + 4 = 17
Damage?: 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 + 4 = 13
Trip: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 10 + 1 + 4 = 23
The sheet doesn't have Droogami's CMB, so I'm trying to extrapolate... I think he's at: +4 BAB +6 Dex and nothing else... unless he gets a bonus to trip for having the trip special ability?

DM Amazing Red |

Ninja-ed by bull-man. You forgot to add the bonus from charging to attack roll. With it, you hit.
Friend-Friend leaps at the demon, sinking his fangs into it, though they seem to do little damage. He is able to up-over the babau but not before the demon takes a swing at the incoming feline.
AOO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

DM Amazing Red |

And just as Chjara moves within 30 feet, a root-like tentacle raises up from the ground and tries to grab Chjara.
Grapple: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (18) + 21 = 39
Constrict: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
I believe Chjara is now grappled. Terrill is up. Now that it has acted anyone can make a dungeoneering check to identify it.

![]() |

Terrill darts forward, savoring Thunderhoof's song and moving nimbly through the rubble as if it weren't even there. As he moves, he calls upon Desna to grant his blade even greater powers and, on reaching the babau, he deals it a devastating blow.
Charge to L12, using Agile Feet ability to ignore difficult terrain (use 1 of 6 today). Swift action to activate Judgment of Smiting to make weapon count as Good and Judgment of Destruction for +4 damage.
+1 Curve Blade, Power Attack, Raging Song, Divine Favor, Charge: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 3 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 14 - 2 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 39
Curve blade damage, Power Attack, Raging Song, Judgment, Divine Favor: 1d10 + 2 + 6 + 12 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 6 + 12 + 4 + 3 = 33
Crit confirm, Power Attack, Raging Song, Divine Favor, Charge: 1d20 + 14 - 2 + 3 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 14 - 2 + 3 + 3 + 2 = 37
Crit damage, Power Attack, Raging Song, Judgment, Divine Favor: 1d10 + 2 + 6 + 12 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 6 + 12 + 4 + 3 = 32
AC is 20, including -2 from charge and -1 from song
Edit: consider the information from Terrill's knowledge check shared with everyone.

DM Amazing Red |

Actual grapple check.
Terril rushes forward and almost cuts down the demon in one blow. But it's demonic vigor wills it to keep standing, err.. lying down. B1 moves into the flank while B2 claws from the ground.
B1 Flank: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 12 + 2 = 31
1d8 + 7 + 2d6 ⇒ (3) + 7 + (4, 1) = 15
B2 Flank, prone, Claw: 1d20 + 12 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 12 + 2 - 4 = 18
1d6 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 5 + (3, 3) = 12
B2 Flank, prone, Claw: 1d20 + 12 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 12 + 2 - 4 = 16
1d6 + 5 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 5 + (4, 6) = 17
B2 Flank, prone, Claw: 1d20 + 7 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 2 - 4 = 19
1d6 + 2 + 2d6 ⇒ (1) + 2 + (6, 2) = 11
Init order: Terril, Babaus, Thunderhoof, Lini, Tentacle Monster, Chjara. So it's Thunderhoof and Lini.

Thunderhoof's fury suffuses his being and the brawny shoanti doubles over but not in pain - in transformation. His rough features melt away and his hulking frame rapidly swells with additional bulk until in his place is a huge snorting bull. The shoanti's wordless chant is replaced by a fearsome lowing but is no less rousing. He tosses his mighty horns and paws the earth with heavy hooves.
Wildshape into a huge bull. Move action to get Pummeling Style.
