DoubleGold |

Everyone is okay, are at least they are back there by the entrance. You were all stealthy enough that you did not make noise to make the wolf howl or have the goblin turn in your direction to see you through the arrow slit, though someone will have to disable the trap and you will have pass through the curtain if you want to press on and find the slaves taken. The slaves aren't in the next room if you look in the hole, but you figure they are in this cave.

Tergin Rell |

Feeling frustrated by this trap's unexpected difficulty, Tergin is about to give up when Aleksys tells him to take a deep breath and try again. Aleksys points out some details Tergin missed. With renewed purpose, Tergin once again attempts to disable the trap.
disarm trap (advantage): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14

Beryl Ironjoy |

Remember that I am outside the cave waiting for the signal (likely the cry of a goblin dying), and they have captured the farmers. Bear in mind that we can also strike to KO, not necessarily kill.

Aleksys |
Maybe you melee types can, but Aleksys focuses on ranged - and I don't think you can deal non-lethal damage with a bow, even with a penalty...(although PF has special blunt arrows for that). Which is why I suggest a melee character. Better chance of success with non-lethal damage.

Tergin Rell |

Nodding at Aleksys, Tergin says, Right then, I'll go first.
Shortsword in hand, Tergin carefully slips past the curtain and quietly moves up to the goblin.
stealth: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

DoubleGold |

Tergin gets up right behind the goblin talking to the wolf. The wolf that is in the cage. The goblin is still paying attention to the wolf. The wolf see you, but does not know who you are, but thinks you are just another one of the goblins in the group. Although the wolf does turn his head a little to the right as you approach the goblin and the goblin turns around. He sees you but does not have time to react or scream before you get a chance to do anything.
Tergin, the goblin is facing you, but you have something you can do to prevent him from screaming, subdue him, grab him and cover his mouth, cast a silence spell (but you can't do that, etc).

Tergin Rell |

As soon as the goblin turns to face him, Tergin strikes the creature with the flat of his shortsword's blade, hoping to subdue him.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
damage (non-lethal): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

DoubleGold |

sorry, lost my monster manual only to find out I left it in the car
As tergin swings he misses, the goblin then yells for the other goblins in the room and unlocks the cage to order the wolf to attack, by the way there are two doors there, so you can't see them yet. the Goblin does not see the two allies behind the curtain
init: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (17) = 20 tergin
init: 2 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 + (15) = 17 enemies
init: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (11) = 12 berly
init: 3 + 1d20 ⇒ 3 + (9) = 12 aleksys
edit: map updated

Tergin Rell |

Blast! That's embarrassing! Well, too bad for you, boy-o.
Tergin, shamed by his failure to subdue the lone goblin, strikes to kill.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (4, 5) + 3 = 12
Since I rolled a natural 20, I looked up critical hits in the PHB. In 5e, on a critical, you automatically double the damage dice. Am I reading that correctly?

DoubleGold |

You would double the damage dice, but that twelve damage does kill the goblin
You all hear the goblins run up to the doors, though they do not open the doors just yet.
the wolf runs out the cage and tries to bite Tergin.
bite: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (12) = 16
dmg: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6 you need a dc 11 str saving throw or be knocked prone
Berlys and Aleks turn.

![]() |

As mentioned before, Beryl begins singing a dwarven song of battle, heralding the strength of Claggedin Silverbeard. It seems a little odd that a human would be singing it, but his inflection is spot on!
Two by two, we march the halls,
Axe n' hammer at me side,
Goblin, orc, ettin, giant,
None o' these we do abide!
The warrior barrels down the hall shield before him and warmace ready to strike! He smacks the wolf, "Heel!"
Aiming for a knockout blow.
Warmace (warhammer): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

DoubleGold |

with that blow Berly then moves up to finish the wolf.
hit: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (1) = 6
dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
As much as you can try, to knock out anything not humanoid without killing it is nearly impossible, at least for most animals. Especially a dog/wolf. The bones aren't nearly at thick and skin is soft, and the nerves that cause them to freeze up aren't in the same spots. Yeah, if you hit it, it will be dead.
It is Tergins turn. You know there are some goblins on the right door and some on the left, though you can't see them yet. And you still have the wolf in front of you.

DoubleGold |

Are you just ignoring my roll?
edit: nevermind. I see. When I don't see the alias, it confuses me, as I usually look for it. I did not realize you were Aeshuura.
Recon: The wolf is dead from Beryls nasty hit.
aleksys is up. Then Tergin for round 2.
I also mistaken you for Alek

DoubleGold |

Alkesys, Tergin, you two are up, alkesys to finish round 1, Tergin to start round 2. All enemies in this room are dead, you have goblins waiting behind the door to the right and the door to the left. What shall you do? PS, you don't have to go in exact order or wait for each other to post

Beryl Ironjoy |

Actually was going for KO on the wolf. But, regardless, the outcome is the same.
Beryl looks to his companions with a smile, "Everyone good? I'll take point, if it's alright with you two."

Tergin Rell |

Tergin gets up off the ground, dusting himself off and looking at the wound in his side with a mixture concern and curiosity. He turns to Beryl and says with a wry grin, I have no problem with you taking the lead from this point on.
Tergin looks at the dead goblin. I wonder if this gobbo had anything worthwhile on him, he says as the rogue begins going through the dead goblins pockets.

Beryl Ironjoy |

Helping the young rogue up, he claps Tergin on the shoulder, "Hold back you two, pick off the ones as they attack me, but I will draw them off you."
Beryl moves on, heading further into the hideout, expecting an attack from around every corner.
Goblins scream, Goblins cry!
Goblins squeak and we know why!
Goblins have an ugly face,
that squooshes in under me mace!

DoubleGold |

After the heroes move and prepare, the goblins come through the doors. You were still in init in case you were wondering and so were they, they didn't see you, but they knew you were there, because the one you killed shouted.
One door has a bugbear while the other one has a goblin. The come through the doors and attack our heroes.
Goblin vs Tergin hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (5) = 9
and bugbear vs Berly hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (13) = 17
Heroes are up

Beryl Ironjoy |

Beryl nods to Tergin, "That's the way, lad! Good show!"
He then turns to face the bugbear, "Ooh, yer an ugly one, aren't ya?"
Warmace (warhammer): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

DoubleGold |

While Tergin stabs his target right through the neck and kills it, Berly swings his hammer but bounces off the bugbears armor. Aleksys fires his bow at the enemy, but it looks like a 1970s storm trooper taught him how to use that thing, as he hits the wall.
The bugbear swings at Berly back with his morning star. hit: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (8) = 13 But is so distracted on blocking/dodging Berlys hit, he misses himself.
Heroes are up.

Beryl Ironjoy |

Beryl laughs, continuing to taunt the bugbear, and stomps down hard on the creature's foot. Using the distraction, the warrior sweeps up to catch the bugbear in the jaw!
Warmace: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Aleksys |
Aleksys nocks another arrow and lets fly at the bugbear!
longbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 41d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
In her efforts to avoid hitting her companions engaged in melee with her target, she narrowly misses the corner on the far side of the room, completely missing her intended target.
Geeze, the RNG hates me again! Maybe someone else can roll my attack next time. I had a great damage roll, too!

DoubleGold |

botting tergins attack: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (11) = 16 as he moves towards the bugbear.
dmg: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
both Beryl and Tergin land good hits on the bugbear, while Aleksys is practicing his aim but instead drops his arrow.
the bubear is badly hurt as he has cuts and bruises on the head and chest, but he swings.
hit: 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 4 + (12) = 16 vs Berly.
Berly if you don't have your shield equipped you just took dmg: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (2, 7) + 2 = 11 piercing dmg.
Heroes are up

Aleksys |
Ok I'll try another round...
Aleksys nocks another arrow and tries again to shoot the bugbear: longbow: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 51d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Wow. The RNG-god hates me. I miss again and do almost max damage to...an empty point in space? This is getting out of hand!

Tergin Rell |

Tergin continues to attack the bugbear.
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 3 + (2) = 10
Thanks for botting me last round. I haven't been able to post as much as I would like. I added sneak attack damage to my attack aince Beryl is within 5' of the bugbear,

DoubleGold |

The bugbear is down and all enemies are destroyed. You can search here, but there is nothing of value here, unless you just want the enemy weapons. The next room you find a cage full of prisoners. They don't cry out to you or anything, because they happen to be asleep even though that fighting made a little noise. The cage is locked. There are no other additional rooms led on from this room and no place any enemies can hide, though you figure keys might be around somewhere.

Beryl Ironjoy |

Beryl has his shield out, otherwise he'd be doing d10 damage instead.
Beryl looks to the cage but speaks to his companions, "Check the bodies, hopefully one o' them 'as got the key. Elsewise, we do this the hard way."

Beryl Ironjoy |

Beryl attempts to organize the captives, "We're here to get ye out o' here. That ragtag band cannae be all o' the beasties, so we best be gettin' ye in order."
Charisma check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
It was bound to happen sooner or later. :p
