It seems ridiculous for sure. Mechanically you're at a disadvantage for being small even though you're now proficient with it. But, I think it's great. More flavorful than power gamey.

Sir Tristan Brackenbury |

Here you are. I wasn't sure if a Knight Templar fit the period, but I know they were present in at least one of the Crusades. Besides I couldn't get the Kingdom of Heaven scenes out of my mind.
(Also, here is your Lawful Evil character).
EDIT: Just click the profile to see Stats and Background. If Knight Templar is okay, I'll start connecting him with the Lionheart Saga.

Knight Templar is okay. They aren't destroyed in France for a while yet.
Okay, here is the moment you've been waiting for. To see who stays and who goes.
- Sir Tristan Brackenbury -
Pros: represents the Church. Is typical of most fighters in the Church, except he's a Cleric. Is related to the Knights Templar, although without political aspirations and could be loyal to Richard.
Cons: As a lawful evil warrior monk, Sir Tristan represents the Monolithic nature of the Church. He could also be a product of the Crusade's fever pitch movement to reclaim Jerusalem from the Infidel. The only problem is that he came back from the Crusades with different conclusions about his morality, and so could represent a failure of the Church.
- Artegallio "The Gardener" -
Pros: known as the Gardener to most of the people in England. He has a definite quest, to find Brianna the widow of a supposed Norman lord. He could also represent heathen religion in a way that makes it seem better than the Church (especially if Sir Tristan and Artegallio are put together.)
Cons: What makes it easy for a wicked man like Sir Tristan survive can make it hard for a druid. Sir Tristan could hide his evilness from the people for a time, the people -- with the urging of a parish priest -- could misjudge Artegallio before they even know him.
- Nazskab Naffront -
Pros: a hold over from King Humber's Hun (and Orc) invasion, Nazskab is a half-orc from the Hebrides. He has natural prodigious strength and power and could potentially rip a man's spine in half.
Cons. there wasn't much to go on. Nothing juicy, but I bet the player is keeping something from me that will make his character stand out. As he stands, he looks like he's been cut out with a cookie cutter.
- Dirk Glass -
Pros: A forest gnome from Germany, under the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. He's a nasty little thief. He started with an apple, and then went to food to survive. The result is a little thief who takes things without asking or paying.
Cons: He's from a long way, and a lot of people are going to be curious as to who he is. His novelty is will be something of an issue. People are going to be curious and they will want to touch and prod the gnome.

-- Part two --
- Amos Windelton -
Pros. Bard. You won't be a loss for music in the group. When ever you need a song, you ask Amos Windelton from Windel town.
Cons. Has a criminal background and is inspired by the tales of a certain Outlaw in Nottingham shire. Apparently, Robyn of Locksley's reputation is starting to inspire a few folks.
-- Bryseis the Golden --
Pros. A tiefling, presumably pitborn, who goes around making pacts with the Devil for demonic powers. She made a pact with a Babylonian themed god, an infernal bull named Mammon, for power and is now a Warlock.
Cons. Bryseis could be a loose cannon. She knows that the people are against her, and there's no telling when she will blow up and cause trouble for the group.
-- O'Brian Mac Lugh --
Pros: A Pugilist from Ireland. Presumably the English Pale, but he could be from Meath, Ulster, or any of the other two kingdoms in Eire. He likes to hit things with his fists.
Cons: Being a barbarian, he is also a bit uncontrolled. He could balance Sir Tristan's Lawful philosophies however, and that could spark some discussion between Chaos and Law.
-- Mordechai of Leeds --
Pros. A wizard. From Leeds. He could learn spells from a spellbook and can throw them with the best of them.
Cons. He's a Jew, and thus subject to discrimination and persecution. On the other hand, he gives the group a direct link to the theme of Persecution of the Jews in the Ivanhoe Saga, and could make a valuable ally. Although Rebecca may choose him for a husband over the whole group because they have compatible faiths. Also, since he gets his magic from the Qaballah instead of the magic of the Order of Hermes, he doesn't have support, at least initially, from the Stonehenge Tribunal of Wizards.
Well, there you have it. Eight characters to choose from, and fortunately, the result of what happens when you say, "Any race, any class." There isn't any instant cohesion to begin with, but then, most groups rarely start out perfect the first days.

This sounds like a challenge! I admit I don't know much about the time period or remember much beyond the basics of the Robin Hood and Ivanhoe stories. I also have not played any 5e since early play test stuff. So this is all pretty much brand new to me.
If you want, I can reroll my personality and play what the dice give me.

EltonJ |

The team is composed of:
1. Mordechai of Leeds. It was sad that Rebecca didn't end up with anyone in Ivanhoe, but this time, we can rewrite the story.
2. O'Brian Mac Lugh.
3. Amos Windelton.
4. Artegallio "The Gardener".
5. Nazskab Naffront
6. Sir Tristan Brackenbury
- Alternates -
In case one or two can't show up.
1. Bryseis the Golden
2. Dirk Glass
