Iradyiel reaches the boat. It rolls deeply as he grabs the side and climbs in, nearly taking on water. Once aboard Iradyiel everything you would expect in a boat: round cork life-saver thingy, oars, ect. But also the dead body of the poor ferryman, black arrows stuck in his back!

In the distance, another scream from the town. Flames flicker on the island as the buildings burn...

glad I didn't tip it over After climbing in the boat Iradiel sees the ferryman, poor fellow trying not to disturb the body he grabs the oars and starts to row toward the beach, occasionally looking over his shoulder to make sure he is going the right direction. As he nears within calling range he calls out over his shoulder "The ferryman's dead, black arrows!"

the only suspense here is seeing if Iradyiel with his 13 strength can finish rowing this ferry to the beach!

"$#!+" Darya hisses in response to Iradyiel's announcement. As he approaches she quickly loads her crossbow. As the boat makes landfall, she focuses, drawing her presence in somewhat her halo fading as if falling prey to an overcast sky.

"Stay low. No need to give them an easier target than necessary. If you have a ranged weapon now would be a good time to ready it. The second we make it over there we hit the ground running, ok?" she says, falling into the comfort of preparing for battle.

Nazz nods as she crouches into the boat, taking her cloak off to wrap up her white-flame sword as she does so.


As Iradyiel beaches the ferry, he climbs out, shaking his arms and hands, looking at his palms. I think I'm going to have blisters, well at least I helped get the boat. Picking up his boots and crossbow, tossing them into the ferry, he waits for everyone to climb in, and someone to man the oars, so he can push off.

You all climb into the boat and push off. About 500m out you see a figure in the water up ahead, silhouetted by the burning town...Another boat. Just as the bow of the boat becomes clear in your view you hear a voice whispering to you from the boat: Jorgensen? Lionna? Is that you? Hurry up. Hosilla's already begun the assault!

Siff waves off the offering of the dragon delicacies, her lips set in a firm line, staving off the heaves that cramp her stomach.

Arriving at the shoreline and the apparant assault on the peaceful hamlet on the island, her brow furrows and the ends of her hair begin to blacken...

She watches Iradyiel swim out to the boat with trepidation, releasing the breath she'd help when she began to row back.

Sitting in the boat with the others, she hears the whisper from the traitor in the other boat

"An axe would work..." Siff offers quietly...

as the boats bang together Iradyiel keeps his footing and continues cocking and loading his crossbow. Aiming it at the cultist, Iradyiel smiles and says "Yeah, we all don't have heavy armor on though!" as he squeezes the trigger on the crossbow firing at the cultist.

Bruno tries to brace, but this flimsy crazy is hardly the stone he's used to, and he stumbles across the minimal gap between the boats instead of the valiant charge he envisioned.

Fools. grumbles the cultist. Then she shouts back to the shore, which is now about 100 meters About 25 rounds at full oar away. Gertrude, Zazowitz! Crossbows. Do not worry about hitting me! You hear voices shout in response from the shore, and clicking and stretching bow bowstrings. Then the culist points her magic wand at Bruno and Khan, and releases a spell. Burning Hands, fire damage: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 2, 1) = 9, DC16 reflex for half. The sleeping Darya is also caught in the flames.

Seeing as they probably wouldn't be rowing back to the village with bolts flying at them and not wanting to risk the group's life with that wand Nazz hops into the other boat and slashes at the cultist.

That's enough to kill the poor lady. With a sickly sucking sound her chest is wrent open and she falls face down in the boat.

From the shore you can see two shapes, each shooting at you with cross bows.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15 50% miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 49
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 50% miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 42

Niether hits anyone but a bolt lands uncomfortably close to Khan in the splintered wood of the boat. GM fiat: Darya wakes up rubbing her eyes.

Bruno recognizes the danger of sinking and snatches the oars from the more damaged boat to be used with the less damaged one.
Row! Now! he commands as he shoves an oar into Khan's hands. He takes one for himself and motions Darya and Nazz onto the two main oars. With all four of them rowing one boat they might just get to shore faster.
