Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Ganorok goes to work on the chains and manacles, and quickly get her free.
Corsario |
Illia thank you.
"May the heavens bless you! I didn't knew the festival was a trap, and they sent us to be... tortured... destroyed... here. I was horrible. They will never take me alive again. I'll die before letting them... They will never take me alive again!"
She gets her equipment and heal herself with some potions.
"Let's escape from here!"
Where to now?
Orion Delanis |
"Well, the way I see it, we've got one door open in this corridor, leading to a room next to this one. May as well go take a look. I find it highly suspect that the denizens of this locale let us roam so freely, but if they are too sure of themselves, that can only serve to our advantage!"
Then he turns to Ilia:"Escaping may be harder than just walking out of here. This whole plane is barred against interdimensional movement. We will need to find another way out, so escape may well be connected with you getting revenge for what they did to you. Do stay close."
Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Ganorok checks the next door.
"It smells like alchemical reagents in there. Ready?"
He will use his wands again, to become invisible and shielded.
Orion Delanis |
"She gets her equipment and heal herself with some potions."
Honestly, I was under the impression she took care of that. If she's still wounded, I will spend charges of my wand to heal her a bit more, dunno how many she would need to be almost full.
Corsario |
You are right! I took care of that! My bad, I wanted you to spend some of that gold in my humble infernal demiplane! (wink wink).
Corsario |
5. Laboratory
The overpowering stench of potent alchemical and arcane reagents fills this room, the cluttered surfaces of which are piled with half-full beakers, alembics, and retorts, each holding what appears to be a different bodily fluid. It resembles one of the alchemical labs where students of the Acadamae learn the art of brewing potions. This one, however, is not actually used for this purpose. The alchemical apparatuses here instead contain various humors, organic acids, lymph, excrement, and other noxious fluids.
A glamorous and delicate human female stands calmly at the center of the room, and greets you with a courteous bow.
"Welcome! My name is Marijkal, consort to the ruler of this place, Chyvvom the Magnificent! You are the new batch of contestants, right? I am glad you arrived here. I beg for you to tell me: Why should I let you live?"
Belzeragna Map
Aizel |
Aizel returned bow, Khatul mimicking the action as she hoped down. "Greetings Marjikal, Queen-Consort of this Realm. I am Aizel. My Companions and I wish to return home. This is our simple goal. If we can do this without additional violence then that is just as well. If we cannot...we have no wish to harm you, but we are not, exactly, normal contestants. We can, and will, defend ourselves, and I don't think you will find it at all a pleasant experience."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (18) + 18 = 36
Corsario |
Khatul is in battleform, right? Got an image for him? I forgot to put him in the map.
Orion Delanis |
Sword still in hand, Orion seemingly relaxes a bit as his stance changes. But his muscles are ready to jump into action again at any moment, the less guarded stance taken to give him greater mobility.
"It is as my friend here says. The three of us...(four, of course *knowing smile*)...were specifically sent to break with tradition. The academie needs winners after all this time, or they may have to stop the breaching eventually. We can do this the easy way, for all our benefits, or we do it the hard way."
Let me say I hate the planar -4...basically covers 95% of my skills
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (18) + 22 = 40 On saying "three of us", I try and see if her gaze "flickers" towards Ganorok, revealing she can see him.(or if she gives it away otherwise)...if so, Orion will acknowledge that by including the bracketed stuff in his statement.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33 I know Toff absolutely wanted winners after all these years. We don't exactly know the reasons but it's what makes most sense in my eyes.
Corsario |
The woman smile...
"You are not normal contestants? Are you gods? Yours souls were forfeit the moment you entered Belzeragna!"
When Orion she looks towards Ganorok and Khatul.
"You forgot your cat and mouse... Winners? The Academae doesn't needs winners... but Chyvvom needs souls to offer Lorthact. And those souls are yours."
She turns her back to you and starts fumbling with the items in a table.
"So... tell me... what could you do to convince me to spare your puny mortal lives?"
Aizel |
"We aren't a group that has simply been cobbled together from those looking to survive," Aizel responded simply. "We know how to work together. You can kill one contestant. Maybe you can destroy four, or five, or six. But can you easily kill them when they are working as a unit? Why take the risk?"
Aizel took in a deep breath, looking through scent and sight to see if there was any sign of more invisible creatures.
Perception + Scent: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (8) + 19 = 27
Corsario |
The woman turns, empty handed, and smiles.
"A unit, you say? That's interesting... I could make use of a team... Let's see, what about a test? If you can stand 30 seconds fighting me, I'll spare you, and in exchange you will do a little favor to me... sounds fair?"
Ganorok "The Mouse" |
The voice of Ganorok can be heard...
"What favor do you want? Maybe we can reach an agreement..."
Orion Delanis |
30 seconds, hu? Thats a long time in the heat of battle...
Orion puts on the most smug grin he can manage: "What if we end up sparing you? Then you owe us a favor?"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (2) + 22 = 24 Not very smug, I guess...also: I think she's itching for a fight, may as well make the best of it
Corsario |
"Serve you? Mere mortals? Maybe you are a team, but you are delusional. So, want to try, or not?"
Corsario |
In some infernal realms souls are a valuable commodity... like gems or coins to "mortals".
Corsario |
"I guess I will have to torture you and rip your souls for my husband and lord, then..."
She quickly transform to a hideous and yet beautiful (in some way) creature.
She quickly casts a spell and black tentacles sprout from the ground and lashes against you!
She casts Black Tentacles... I marked the area of effect on the map.
CMB to Grapple: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (13) + 19 = 32
If the tentacles succeed in grappling a foe, that foe takes 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 points of damage and gains the grappled condition. Grappled opponents cannot move without first breaking the grapple. All other movement is prohibited unless the creature breaks the grapple first. The CMD of black tentacles, for the purposes of escaping the grapple, is equal to 29.
Illia Ean gets grappled by the tentacles, and screams madly.
"No!!! Not anymore! I'll serve you! Take these and let me go!"
She tries to escape.
Escape Artist Check: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21
She is unable, but she attacks Enothai anyway.
+2 keen short sword attack (-2 grappled): 1d20 + 17 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 17 - 2 = 27
Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Belzeragna Map
Orion Delanis |
My ongoing effects include Freedom of Movement, so I'll kindly ignore the tentacles and charge her instead.
Swift action to pronounce Judgement upon her. (Justice/Destruction)
Firmly gripping the sword in his hand, Orion is untouched by the sudden appearance of tentacles: "Your arrogance will be your downfall, vile creature!" With these words, he moves directly at her(two fields down) and swings, but misreading the distance and starting the downward motion early.
It'll be a wonder if this connects...well, one strike is not the battle...
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 6 + 2 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 6 + 2 + 3 + 2 = 24 Damage: 4d6 + 23 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 3) + 23 = 37
And of course I roll crappy on the attack ;)
Can she cast divine spells? Asking if my trait bonus will be active...you know, for when I hit...
Aizel |
With a roar Aizel grew larger, using his blood rager abilities to cast Long Arms on him self as he did. Rising in height, Aizel's arms also extended freakisly even as the huge claws and fangs grew in.
Both arms lashed out, slashing at the now terrifying looking creature.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45
Damage: 1d10 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
Claw 1 Crit Confirm: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (8) + 25 = 33
Crit Damage: 2d10 + 36 ⇒ (10, 10) + 36 = 56
Claw 2: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (8) + 25 = 33
Damage: 1d10 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22
Of course, when the spell was cast and Black Tentacles erupted, Khatul's own abilities activated. She followed the trail of magic back to it's caster with a Dweomer Leap, attempting to savage the demonic woman upon her return to real space.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (3) + 25 = 28
Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Claw 1: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (18) + 25 = 43
Damage: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Claw 2: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31
Damage: 1d4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10
I believe Long Arms + Large should put me within slashing distance?
Corsario |
I think Aizel didn't took into account the -2 to attack because he is grappled, right?
Aizel rips and tears a great chunk of the devil's body in a well placed and powerful claw attack.
One of Khatul's claws connect, but some unholy protection prevents him from damaging her.
She has DR 10/good, AC 35.
Corsario |
The grapple check was 32... if your CMD is 33, then he is safe. When you didn't move I thought you were grappled.
But your CMD should change when you rage and change size, right, and I think for the better?
Well, with her AC 35 you only connect the critical hit anyway.
Waiting for Enothai's actions.
Enothai Lantherion |
Not much I can do, I cant get out of the grapple and going to be a pain to cast definsevely taking damage and being attacked by the lady that the rest of the group wanted with us.
Orion Delanis |
Not much I can do, I cant get out of the grapple and going to be a pain to cast definsevely taking damage and being attacked by the lady that the rest of the group wanted with us.
That lady could be a prime target for your School Specialty, though, would she not?
Orion Delanis |
Oh yes if you are grabbed...
FAQ
The official errata didn't say to change this but under concentration it says.... "Casting a spell while you have the grappled or pinned condition is difficult and requires a concentration check (DC 10 + the grappler’s CMB + the level of the spell you’re casting). Pinned creatures can only cast spells that do not have somatic components." It is our opinion that the condition should also be updated to match but until errata or an FAQ is provided indicating such, we will not alter the actual text.
So yes, with a concentration check, you very much can cast while grappled :) You have a base of 13+8=21 to work with, against a DC of 29+spell level...not great chances, but workable.
Orion Delanis |
How are concentration skills determined in Pathfinder again? Lvl of the caster correct so hers would be +13?
Level of Caster + Casting attribute bonus, Int in your case. So 13+8, or 21.
Corsario |
Illia Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Illia's eyes change from panic and madness to calm and subservience...
Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Ganorok, ignoring the Black tentacles, and moving between them, moves towards the devil woman and attacks her, but his small swords have little effect on her.
"She can see me! That is not good!"
Corsario |
The she-devil moves backwards, using her tentacles to climb into the wall.
"Legions of hell, hear my call!"
Summon change (65%): 1d100 ⇒ 80
But nothing happens.
You got lucky!
Your turn!
Corsario |
Would a globe of invenerability keep the tentaccles away from me?
Spells of 4th level and higher are not affected by the globe, nor are spells already in effect when the globe is cast.
I am afraid not.
Corsario |
The elf using her enchantment ability will issues a telepathic command to her pet rouge. Use your best way of attacking to kill that creature.
The pet rogue nods, with a blank stare... she tries to escape the tentacles again.
Escape Artist Check: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34She manages to move next to the she-devil, but don't get a change to attack her.
Corsario |
Does she provoke when moving backwards? Since obviously she's not withdrawing...also, if she 5-foot stepped, I got Step-Up so would be there in case her calling provokes...
Only a 5' step, so she doesn't provoke, but you are right, you step-up following her.
Orion Delanis |
Only a 5' step, so she doesn't provoke, but you are right, you step-up following her.
She doesn't provoke for moving, but then she SHOULD provoke for using a Summon Spell-Like-Ability, right?...
When his enemy tries to escape his reach, Orion steps right up, ready to slice her...Dunno if the attack takes place, so cutting the fluff short
Attack AoO: 1d20 + 9 + 6 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 9 + 6 + 2 + 3 = 38 damage: 4d6 + 23 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 5) + 23 = 37
Crit Threat: 1d20 + 9 + 6 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 6 + 2 + 3 = 26
"Your back is against the wall, and your lackeys don't heed your call. What other tricks do you have, wretched fiend?"
5-foot step to step into flank position with our Rogue
Swift Action to activate Bane
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 6 + 4 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 9 + 6 + 4 + 3 + 4 = 39 damage: 7d6 + 25 ⇒ (3, 6, 2, 5, 6, 2, 6) + 25 = 55
Free Intimidate: 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (3) + 26 = 29
