Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Do you mean the Hall of Summoning?
Ganorok looks at Enothai, his whiskers moving.
"Well, it is the closest one, but it is the biggest! We could spend a good time searching for the key there."
Orion Delanis |
"There's a Hall of Lies...I'm good about revealing those..." Orion offers helpful.
So far, thanks to Knur's sacrifice and Ganorok's Skill with Traps, they had run into no problems...
Why did no one ever win this thing? There must be a different reason...the only common factor after aquiring a keylight is going through the hall of Warding...so thats where the real challenge must wait...
Ganorok "The Mouse" |
"The Hall of Seeing is at the other side of the Academae..." - Ganorok answers Enothai - "... and the Hall of Lies is right next to here, just passing the Hall of Shaping."
Orion Delanis |
"Why, thank you....mylady?"
With an exaggerated bow, Orion hands one of the 2 keylights he gathered to Enothai, then turns to Ganorok.
"Thank you a lot for your help. We will fetch one for you, too, but you know how the ladies are if they don't get preferential treatment" and *winks* towards Ganorok and Aizel.
Orion will try and see if he can spot any of the other participants, wether in a failed state like Knur, or a pre-fail state with a keylight.
Perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (11) + 24 = 35
While looking out, he tags along with the others towards the Halll of Shaping.
Was lucky enough to be online and able to react on two of those keylights, gonna let one of you shine for the others unless the challenges seem especially tailored for a man of my skills.
Enothai Lantherion |
With a chuckle she will reply to Orion, Though I appreciate it more when you bow and I am behind you. The view is just as nice. I love watching you arrive but enjoy the leaving just as much, if not more.
Orion Delanis |
"Oh, true for both of us, my dear. I so enjoy it when you bend over and I'M behind YOU...and I'm not just talking about the view here. You think they utilize magical sensors around here to keep watch on the participants? We could take a short break, you know..."
Corsario |
Ganorok leads the team to the next building over, the Hall of Shaping.
On the way Orion, thinks, by the way the people are reacting and cheering. at least one contestant has already enter the Hall of Wards, not far away from where you currently are. After some looking around the Hall rooms, in a currently unused office along the building’s east side, the key-light is hovering just a little way above the floor.
At simple sight you see three benches and two statues on the part of the room where the light is, and another bench, another statue, a desk with some papers on it, a small reading pedestal in front of a windowed wall, and a small column.
There are ever burning torches around the walls, and a carpet on the floor next to you.

Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Ganorok moves his whiskers, smiling with his big front teeth showing.
"Looks like a trap, right?"
He seems happy.
"Wanna try? Or we do the boring thing and let me go first?"
Corsario |
Basically all the room glow with blinding arcane auras. The torches, the statues, the benches, the carpet, the items on the desk, you would bet the desk too, the reading station, the windows, the dragon circle in the ground, almost everything.
Except the small column.
You could spend a couple hours examining and trying to differentiate the different auras of the room.
Orion Delanis |
Pity you didn't pick up Greater Dispel Magic. Would be awesome for this. One or two Area dispels, and only what's left after that is actually worth looking at ;)
On a side note, can't move my token, if I was supposed to be able to to so...
And on a more active suggestion...could create Water right over the keylight. Maybe sufficient amounts of water are enough to enact enough "force" on it to trigger any connected traps here...or, of course, Enothai could use Summon Monster 2 to get some Monkeys in here and tell them to fetch the Keylight for us ^_^ I doubt she has any moral problems with that-
Corsario |
I like moving the token myself, it gives me "feel" of traps, sorry, Attacks of Opportunity and such...
So, what is the plan?
And if it serves as consolation, a Greater Dispel Magic would dispel the Key light too.
Orion Delanis |
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (5) + 15 = 20
The Hall of Shaping where Transmutation Magic is trained. Animated Objects and the like, and the Polymorph subschool...and Enothai says basically everything in here is magical...
Orion takes 2 or three steps into the hall, then moves along the wall, closely observing everything inside for signs of animation.
Perception: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (20) + 24 = 44
I mean things like "does something seem odd?" Or exhibit momentary movement, like a teapot rotating to face me, or the end of a rug looking at me funny...Animate Objects doesn't last so long but would account for all the stuff seeming magical in here
@Enothai, I think it should. Could also put the Giant Spider on the Ceiling and have it drop down on the Keylight *gg*
Ganorok "The Mouse" |
Ganorok's whiskers go down.
"Really? Are you going to try it by yourself?"
Corsario |
Orion moves in to the room... nothing seems to react. Even the key light hovers there, immobile. What Enothai is sensing could be things transmuted to be different, or even minor effects to keep the things clean, or a different color...
So many possibilities.
Orion Delanis |
"Na, not going to try it by myself. Third time's the charm, they say. Don't want that to hold true against me. Was merely taking a look to see if I catch anything...unusual...Enothai, you got something for this? It seems too calm in here, so I'm certain there's something bad waiting to happen."
Saying that, Orion glances over at the Desk and Reading Station without moving...is there something readable on either? An open book, a scroll of paper?
While Enothai is considering, Orion activates his Detect-any-Alignment-Powers of the Inquisition! (4 rounds, detect any of the cardinals, see if something in here glows...I guess objects are neutral but if they bound some summoned spirits they may ping...)
Corsario |
Aizel |
Aizel glanced around, feeling out of his element. He lacked the magic to be really effective in this environment. "Khatul," he murmured, "See what you can find."
The small creature sniffed the air, trying to sense any different magic with it's permanently active Detect Magic. Aizel himself looked around as well, to see what he could see. He even sniffed, discretely, incase something smelled. Literally.
Aizel's Perception: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (9) + 19 = 28
Khatul's Perception: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22
Corsario |
Smells somewhat moldy, as if the place is not used frequently. There are even small spider webs and dust on top of all the items. In fact, nothing seems really clean, or recently moved.
Does Khatul enters the room?
Corsario |
So... what now?
Do you try something else?
Let Ganorok do what he does best?
Go for the Key-Light?
Summon flying monkeys to fetch it for you?
Orion Delanis |
I dont think I can summon monkeys but I can summon a neautral monster that might be able to help.
If the GM suggests you summon flying monkeys, you don't say "I can't do that", you say "Yeah, great, I'm summoning flying monkeys!" It was his idea, if he'll call you out on the details he should provide them ^_^
Corsario |
Enothai starts summon flying monkeys to being the key light.
Ganorok let a tear out, and quickly grabs a wand from his backpack and use it on himself, he vanish out from sight.
The flying monkey, dressed with a nice red waistcoat, flies toward the light and grabs it.
A horrid rotten smell bathes the room, and the monkey is polymorphed into a small sparrow, flying away, while the key light drops to the ground.
The three statues around the room fly out against you, red glow showing from their eyes and joints, and try to bite you!
If you have an ability that lets you act on the Surprise round let me know. Enothai, you don't get an AoO because you were flat footed.

Your turn!
Orion Delanis |
Just on a side note, not that it would have changed something on rolling a 1, but my Fortitude Save is 16...not 10...but I guess it was a Reflex Save?
The fire may be inconvenient, but those statues are even more inconvenient...
Orion pronounces Judgement upon them(Justice+Destruction, +3 to hit, +4 damage), drawing his weapon and taking a 5-foot step towards Enothai, bringing his greatsword down on the vile statue.

it feels like hitting a rock, and even so a chuck of the creature gets blown to smithereens. It gets shaken.
And sorry, I think I got the Reflex save by mistake...
Aizel |
Smiling, Aizel muttered, "Bad move." The speech came out slurred and guttual as the normally in control man unleashed his anger management issues.
As he began to rage, Aizel grew. His already impressive height increased until he rose a good 12 feet into the air, claws sprouting from his fingers and fangs extending as he did. A barrier flickered into life before the bloodrager, the magic in his blood singing into life. Equally, the now brutally long claws and teeth gleamed with magic.
Even as her mast grew, Khatul matched him, leaping down and changing until she was the size of a large panther, albeit far more pretty.
Both bloodrager and pet shifted around the creature, taking up positions so that they were flanking it before the attack commenced.
Since this is our first fight...as a Free Action, Aizel starts his Bloodrage and uses Greater Bloodrage to Cast Shield upon himself. Khatul activates Battleform. Both use a Swift action to activate Arcane Strike and five foot shift to move into a flanking position opposite the beastie. And then...full attacks with +4 flanking bonus since both have the Outflank feat.
With twin bellows the two laid into the statue, uncaring as to what, exactly, it was.

Orion: Sorry, no, I though the same as Ganorok's swords are adamantine too, but is a straight DR#/-
Enothai: Knowledge(Planes).
Aziel: I think To activate Battleform is a standard action. How do they flank only using 5' steps?

Ok, good to know :) As for Aizel and his kitty, I think they shared the same space, which means if they were in one of the cardinal directions, they could 5-foot step diagonally to flank from the other cardinal direction. Won't work if enemy is diagonally from them but otherwise a good idea-
Corsario |
Enothai: you know about this beings, well, everything... Garipan
Orion: That is the point, the Garipan is in a diagonal from him
Enothai Lantherion |
The wizard will wait for the creature to get in range and get a clear shot of it with a cone of cold.

The creature is resistant to fire, cold, and electricity. It does not have the same resistance to sonic. Physical attacks are going to not be as effective.
Corsario |
Enothai: The good news is that with cone of cold you can get every Garipan in the Area of Effect. The Bad news is that you also get Aizel, Ganorok and Orion there...
You all are seeing THE MAP, right?
