I was concidering bringing Cuddles, an old favorite of mine. He's a fullblood orc with a grapple focus, but I'm going to use Brawler this time so he'll be more flexible than a Tetori monk, for example. He'll be a front liner by necessity.

Yeah. Nature classes are good for Kingmaker.

Could go with Shaman or Druid. Ranger is always an option on the more martial side and magus could make for a pretty good Warden type character

Hmm, likely right I imagine. Time to keep thinking.

Hmmmm, oh I have a new thought. Maybe build a character who is on the path to become a fey sworn of the Green Mother (somewhat similar idea to the character I run in a kinmaker already on paizo but it would have some significant differences in tone, goals, and build).

Oh i dont know why ninja maids couldnt be a thing. I may have had a catfolk samurai at one point in irrisen. would definitely need a good story as to why you fled sandpoint... hehe i mean uh the other lands and were in the river kingdoms. . .

I figure that it would tie in to another PC's story somehow. It would definitely be one to collab with another player with I think. Gotta admit, given where the campaign eventually goes a feysworn of the Green Mother would be very compelling as well.

Green Faith Druid would make for an interesting high priest, A nation based on Green Faith could be cool

It's called the Verdant Grappler on the pfsrd, but it's underwhelming.
My concept would take 2 levels in Constable cavalier and then the rest Brawler. I might be the only member of the party standing up for traditional civilization. Haha
But not really. Cuddles is good at catching things, but you should leave the actual decisions to someone else, probably.

Green Faith is interesting because you have a strong story reason to do a kind of “challenge mode” where none of your settlements are larger than villages. I like doing Erastil-based groups too.

Why is that a challenge? Does that change the kingdom building math?

Having more settlements raises your stability roll difficulty, but having small ones means fewer improvements. You have to be more careful about how you expand and what you build.

Yeah, I've tried to do that in Jade Regent before but I never make it past the first dungeon as the games always die on me :_:.

The only thing that always makes me hesitant with PRCs is that they inevitably seem to punish casters far too much since you give up a lot to do them with often not enough return. Doesn't mean I won't do them but I almost always find it unpleasant.

As an example I was thinking of the highly thematic seducer witch becoming a feysworn of the Green Mother. Thematically beautiful but the sudden loss of hex progression is potentially brutal beyond belief when added that you may not actually get knew spells known for your familiar (I assume it is treated like a wizard's spell book when it comes to most PRCs). Either is bad enough but together they are absolutely punishing. Fortunately I know of very few GMs who enforce the not getting spells for your book/familiar part.

You are starting to tempmt me here...How difficult is it to learn the rules set?


I've found that the math behind the ruleset is easy to follow once you get used to how the dice rolls work. To Hit rolls, Saving Throws and Turn Undead attempts need d20 rolls that are equal to or greater than a certain value to succeed, whereas Proficiency checks and Attribute checks need d20 rolls that are equal to or less than a certain value to succeed.

Also, Azura's player has expressed interest in joining, and has already mentioned that they're very knowledgeable about the DARK SUN setting and the AD&D 2E ruleset in general, so you'll have an experienced player to provide advice and rules clarifications if you need them.
