DM Locke |

Actions for Tranche #4:
Schir A makes a fantastic leap from the 10' high loft to I13:
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31
Landing adroitly, the foul beast then swings it's wicked polearm at Kevkas:
Attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
The blow lands tellingly, drawing a wicked gash along Kev's thigh.
Fort save vs DC15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
Schir B casts a spell, DC 16 to determine:
Schir C makes a grotesque wailing sound, attempting to summon aid from the Abyss! 20% chance to summon another Schir demon: 1d100 ⇒ 14
Success! Schir demon D, growling in rage, shakes its head at it's unfamilair surroundings, before locking it's eyes on your party...it will be able to act with the rest of Tranche #4 in round 2.
Round one is over! Round 2 begins!
The fire begins to get more intense - more beams begin to fall from the engulfed ceiling. On everyone's turn, you have a 5% chance of being struck by falling debris, causing 1d6 damage and burning for 2hp a round for three rounds, unless someone snuffs it out for you (a standard action) or you stop, drop, and roll (a full-round action). Yay environmental hazards!!
Tranche #1 is up - Davin, Nijena, and Hezar!

Hezar |

Davin I requested last page that you toss me your quiver...if he does DM what are the actions required? I was thinking a move to toss and above to grab?

Osuki Nijena |

Not to nit-pick, but if these bad boys were summoned by the cultists, they shouldn't be able to use their summoning abilities...right? (Also, isn't summoning always a full-round action?) One more thing (daring the wrath of the DM), Prot:whatever is a touch-range spell (so is the Communal version) - the map indicates that all Schir demons have the benefits of the spell...was that an accident? These are the little questions that keep me up at night... ;-)
spellcraft to ID spell: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
"That one is using magic to shield it from the touch of the pure-hearted!" Nijena called to her companions, pointing at the demon who had cast the spell.
Seeing that Matthias had his hands full, and that she had little to offer in the way of direct attack, Nijena moved up to the side of the pit, and offered her hand to Ambrose.
Translation of her warning: They have Prot:Good in place (that may be modified, based on my question, above). Moved to J17, help Ambrose.

Davin Greyhill |

"You got it!" Davin said to Hezar.
Burn chance: 1d20 ⇒ 9
He put away his bow (move action) and then dashed to Hezar while drawing his shield. Second move action.
It should be a simple move for Hezar to take my quiver. I'll adjust the map when I get home.
-Posted with Wayfinder

Hezar |

I will move you. So DM just let me know if that is a swift or a move...btw have I told you how intelligent and awesome you are?

Hezar |

I fully expect it to be a move action...heck if I was DM that is what I would rule, but a fellow can dream
+1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA+RS: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 18 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 + 4 = 9
+1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA+RS: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 12 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 + 4 = 15
to confirm +1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 25 for 2d8 + 4 + 2 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3) + 4 + 2 + 8 = 23
either way the arrows are now CI

DM Locke |

Some good points raised by Nijena. The protection from evil was indeed a mistake on my part, it should only affect one baddie, in this case, the one that cast it (Schir B). And correct again about the summon ability, a big mistake on my part, I thought it worked differently, but upon review it's just like the spell, save the duration. The corrected move:
Schir demon C moves 10 feet back in the loft (move action) providing it total cover against attacks from anyone on the ground floor. It then begins wailing and screeching in it's infernal language, beginning a spell of some sort (DC 24 to determine, due to not being able to see what it is doing.)
Speculation as to how the demons got here, however, is being nitpicky.

Hezar |

I fire at B cause that one doesn't have cover and I don't know much about spells

DM Locke |

@ Hezar - let's just say it's a swift action, like in an action movie - one guy tosses the hero a gun, hero gets off some snap shots immediately. More theatrical that way :-)
As for the attack rolls - I feel like I'm screwing you out of a great roll if you're not allowed to use the attack under the move spoiler. So, use that as one of your attacks, and the better of the two rolls under the swift spoiler for the second attack. Also, which Schir is Hezar attacking? Note that C now has total cover.
EDIT: So B then.
Actions for tranche #1:
Davin tosses his quiver of cold iron arrows to Hezar, then draws his shield and moves.
Hezar draws and fires two arrows at Schir demon B:
+1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 28 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 2 + 1 + 4 = 8
to confirm +1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 9 + 1 - 2 = 25 for 2d8 + 4 + 2 + 8 ⇒ (6, 3) + 4 + 2 + 8 = 23
+1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA+RS: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 18 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 + 4 = 9
One arrow strikes the beast square in the throat, causing it to howl hideously in pain and rage!
Nijena reaches down and helps Ambrose out of the pit. Beaten and exhausted, the NPC will make for the exit at first opportunity.
Tranche #2 is up - Matthias, Kevkas, and Kane!

Hezar |

holy crud, it is still up! I am afeard! 17 CI left. See I knew you were super intelligent and awesome!
That's it?! Where is Belina and Apollo?!

Hezar |

Hezar |

WAHH????!!! You mean multiple years in this game and I didn't know that?

Matthias Valbrand |

Debris chance: 1d100 ⇒ 53
"Let's get out of this barn, draw them into the open!" Matthias shouted, dragging Rylind out. "Ambrose, I'd appreciate you grabbing my mace and shield on the way!"
Was there anyone else in the cellar? If he couldn't see for sure, Matthias will ask Ambrose.

Kevkas the Battle Oracle |

Kev growls at the pain in his leg and lashes back against the creature that bloodied him. "Pamas, send this creature back to the Abyss!"
Attacking baddie A
Greatsword attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Enlarged cold iron greatsword damage: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 5, 5) + 5 = 20
...rolled a 1!? Geez.
Oh, and possibility of getting hit by burning debris: 1d100 ⇒ 42

DM Locke |

Actions for Tranche #2:
Kevkas strikes at the demon before him, missing by inches!
Ambrose shakes his head in reply to Matthias. No one else. They killed the druid, took the girl with them after torturing her for hours. Ogre ... Ogre was one of them.
Kane takes a 20' move to J13, striking at the foul Schir demon (A) that stands before him:
Power Attack: 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 16 - 2 = 34 confirm? 1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 16 - 2 = 25
Damage: 4d6 + 18 + 12 ⇒ (4, 3, 6, 4) + 18 + 12 = 47
The Schir demons' attack of opportunity triggers first, however!
Attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Damage:1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The demon's halberd lashes through the air, missing Kane by inches as he charges at the demon. Kane's riposte is devastating; his shining greatsword cuts through the air and demonic flesh with equal ease, severing the demon's head and right shoulder from the remainder of it's body, and killing it instantly.
Falling debris on Kane? 1d100 ⇒ 41

Hezar |

summab+*&!!
Hezar roars in rage and anguish

DM Locke |

Actions for Tranche #3:
Janiries takes aim at one of the Schir demons, narrowly missing!
Spiting hatred at the Schir demons, Shiang takes a move action to study his foe (+2 to hit/damage) then fires, using deadly aim and a cold iron arrow:
Attack: 1d20 + 13 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 13 + 2 - 2 = 28
Damage: 1d8 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
The arrow lands straight in the Demon's chest, causing it to wail in pain as the cold iron sizzles in the wound!
Tranche #4 - the Schir demons - up next!

DM Locke |

Actions for Tranche #4:
Schir Demon B drops down to the main level, advances on Kane and attacks him with it's halberd:
Attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
Damage:1d10 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Fort save vs DC 15:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
Kane grunts as the halberd cuts across his chest, but the big man doesn't appear to be going down any time soon!
Schir demon D moves up and tries his luck against Kane, as well...
Attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
Damage:1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The goat demon bleats in rage as its powerful blow misses altogether!
Schir demon C casts a spell on itself ... DC 24 to determine what it is doing.
Flaming debris chances for B, C and D:
B: 1d100 ⇒ 20
C: 1d100 ⇒ 63
D: 1d100 ⇒ 56
Round two is over! Round three is up next, as is Tranche #1! That's Davin, Nijena, and Hezar, btw.

Hezar |

Hezar steps back toward the door and sends two more CI arrows flying.
down to 15 CI arrows
+1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA+RS: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 25 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 + 4 = 10
+1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA+RS: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 16 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 2 + 1 + 4 = 14

Davin Greyhill |

For some reason, the tags won't display on my phone, so I don't really know where my character is. But I'm guessing I'm near a baddie. And if so...
Davin drew his sword marched up to one of the demons and attacked.
Longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
Meh.
Debris: 1d100 ⇒ 89
-Posted with Wayfinder

Davin Greyhill |

OK, I finally had a chance to review where I was on the map. Man, I was nowhere near anybody. Some frontline fighter I am. I moved from J21 to L13. It's a double-move and means I can't attack this turn. Not that it mattered since I swung my sword like a limp piece of cardboard anyway.

DM Locke |

Actions for Tranche #1:
Nijena takes a move action to K23 - at the doorway of the barn.
Hezar didnt say which demon he was targeting so I'm going to assume the already injured Schir demon B. Hezar's shot hits the beast right in the forehead, dropping it to the ground, dead!
Davin moves up to confront the demons alongside Kane.
Tranche #2 is up - Kevkas, Matthias, and Kane!

Kevkas the Battle Oracle |

Kevkas takes two huge strides forward, swinging his massive sword at the nearest demon as soon as he is clear of Kane's head. "Go back to the Abyss where you came from, demon!"
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Damage: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) + 5 = 9 ...I just can't get away from these 1s.
Chance of getting bonked on the head: 1d100 ⇒ 55

Matthias Valbrand |

Having dragged Rylind clear of the barn, and having made sure there weren't any more Schir coming up along the outside of the building to hem them in, Matthias unlimbered his crossbow as he returned to the mouth of the barn, and set about loading it.
"The barn is falling apart! Get back out here before it collapses on you!" he called to the others, hoping they would listen before the door was blocked by a burning beam or some other bad luck.

DM Locke |

Actions for tranche #2:
Kane steps up to Schir demon D and uses a full attack action, plus power attack:
Attack #1:1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 16 - 2 = 21
Damage:2d6 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5) + 9 + 6 = 22
Attack #2:1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 11 - 2 = 14
Damage:2d6 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 9 + 6 = 22
One of the blows connects hard! (17 hp damage)
Kevkas also strikes out at the demon, striking it across the chest (9 hp damage)
Matthias loads his crossbow.
Tranche #3 is up next - Janiries and Shiang.

Janiries Shaelara |

Chance of getting hit by debris: 1d100 ⇒ 66
With the barn collapsing, Janiries considered that fleeing was the most dignified act, and so turned to rush towards the entrance.
Move Action: Move to L23
Once there, she quickly turned and let loose an arrow towards the goatman not covered by Kane.
Attack Roll on Schir Demon C: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Damage Roll: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

DM Locke |

Actions for Tranche #3:
Janiries fires at one of the demons, which moves nimbly out of the way.
Shiang snarls at anyone trying to get out of the barn. Pathetic gwailos! Stand and fight! He then uses a full attack to fire at Schir demon D:
Attack 1:1d20 + 13 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 13 + 2 - 2 = 19
Damage 1:1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Attack 2:1d20 + 8 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 2 - 2 = 13
Damage 2:1d8 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Shiang cries out in victory as his first cold iron arrow connects, though he swears again as his second arrow falls just short! The Schir stands for a moment before collapsing, dead.
Tranche #4 - Schir demon - up next!
Schir demon C drops to the ground level and charges at Davin with its nasty, yellowed horns!
Acrobatics to jump and run: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25
Charge:1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 + 2 = 25
Damage:3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4, 5) + 4 = 19
Davin is hit hard by the vicious brute!
Moving within Kane's threatened area triggers an attack of opportunity vs. Schir demon C:
Attack:1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
Damage:2d6 + 9 ⇒ (1, 6) + 9 = 16
Kane grunts as his blade bites into the demon's back, drawing it's foul blood! (11 hp damage after DR)
Debris?
Shiang:1d100 ⇒ 47
Schir demon C:1d100 ⇒ 40
Round three is done! Round four is next, Tranche #1 - Nijena, Hezar, Davin!

Hezar |

+1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA+RS: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 7 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 + 4 = 13
+1 Comp Longbow (+1 STR)+ DA+RS: 1d20 + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 8 for 1d8 + 2 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 + 4 = 12
Can't see the map on phone but fire at whoever is left and step towards the exit
Nice

Osuki Nijena |

Nijena, having reached the door, tossed Matthias' gear on the ground at the Helmite's feet. Then she turned, looked up at the rapidly spreading fire, and called upon her connection to the Weave to ensure the way out remained as clear as possible, for as long as possible.
Quick question - can her Deflect Arrows feat be used to deflect falling debris (should that ever come up)?
Her intent is to either use Ray of Frost to extinguish/beat back flames (or, if there's a support beam that hasn't caught on fire yet, frost it up preemptively), OR, if she knows that won't help (not sure a 0-level cold spell would significantly affect a fire for any length of time), she'll use Acid Splash to try to keep the path clear of flaming debris for others. - It's all mostly fluff, but if it can help, great.
Falling Debris: 1d100 ⇒ 62

Davin Greyhill |

Current HP 19/43
Debris: 1d100 ⇒ 48
Davin spins and attacks the Demon with his sword.
Longsword: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12
But it's clear that his injuries were affecting his blade.
-Posted with Wayfinder

DM Locke |

@ Nijena: the falling debris is heavier than an arrow, and deflecting it as one would an arrow may be difficult. However, using your ray of frost will prevent debris from dropping for each round that you use it - for the next couple of rounds, at least!
Actions for Tranche #1:
Nijena casts ray of frost, bolstering the supporting beams and eliminating the threat of falling debris - for this round, at least.
Withdrawing, Hezar takes two snap shots but both miss the remaining demon.
Still recovering from the Schir's vicious charge, Davin's riposte goes wide.
Tranche #2 is up next - Kevkas, Matthias, and Kane!

Matthias Valbrand |

"Draw it closer!" Matthias yelled, unable to call on Helm's power to heal from such a distance. He shot an annoyed glance at Shiang, whose attitude wasn't helping.
Then he took aim and fired at the Schir in the twisting melee...
lgt.crossbow: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (1) + 3 - 4 = 0
...but jerked his crossbow up at the last moment as Davin and Kane circled into the path of the shot. His bolt thunked harmlessly into the loft.

Kevkas the Battle Oracle |

Kevkas takes one long stride closer and swipes his huge sword at the demon.
Greatsword attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Cold Iron damage: 3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 1, 1) + 5 = 9

DM Locke |

Actions for Tranche #2:
Matthias takes a shot but the bolt goes well wide of it's intended target.
Kevkas swings and connects hard with the Schir demon, cutting a furrow deep into it's chest (9 hp damage).
Kane unleashes a full attack against the demon, using power attack:
Attack 1:1d20 + 16 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 16 - 2 = 23
Damage 1:2d6 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + 9 + 6 = 26
Attack 2:1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 11 - 2 = 23
Damage 2:2d6 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4) + 9 + 6 = 20
Roaring in victory, Kane cuts deep into the Schir's stomach, before bringing his blade back down, neatly slicing the monsters head off.
The combat is over - everyone gets 533 xp. As you stumble out from the smoky interior of the barn, you can see it's roof has become fully engulfed. The farm house, a couple of hundred feet away, is also ablaze, it's roof fully collapsed.

Hezar |

Apollo! Come!
Hezar calls knowing that his friend would have been smart enough to hide, and be available to help track, perhaps Tethys is around as well.
Not sure if I would know if he was killed from a ways away or not

DM Locke |

A distant whining meets Hezar's words as Apollo comes out from a hiding spot deep in the maize field, limping from an injured leg, one eye swollen shut. He lays down at Hezar's feet, injured and exhausted.
Ambrose and Rylind sit on the ground, obviously exhausted from their ordeal. Ambrose points to where Marius' body lies. Ogre killed the boy and his cat before we knew what was going on. Others came to help him, including that dark elf and the sorcerer, and two women as well, and we were overcome.
They are dead - the whole family that was here. The sorcerer burned the house while they were still inside, and any that came out were cut down by the dark elf. Rylind says this before taking a drink of water.

Hezar |

Hezar picks up Apollo and then finds where Tethys' body is, and he takes a lock of hair from it as well.
Mathias can you heal Apollo?
I suspect he will be able to track these monsters.
We should bury the bodies.
He returns the 14 cold iron arrows to Davin

Hezar |

He whispers to Apollo
It's ok boy, you did well. I know you tried to protect them all. Your safe now. Shhh.
As he waits he gently pets Apollo and cleans his wounds take 10 on heal

Matthias Valbrand |

Matthias gazed at the flaming buildings sorrowfully for a long moment, before gathering the wounded around him.
"Great Helm, Vigilant One, here your servant has failed. Bring healing to our wounded, that together we may right the wrongs, and bring justice to both the living and the dead."
channel 1: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7
channel 2: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9
Anyone still hurt after that?
Bending, he helped Rylind to stand, then Ambrose. "They must be close if they just started the fire and summoned the Schir when they saw us coming. I fear we have little time for burials. This pyre may be the best we can do for them. If Belina lives, we must take her from them as quickly as we can." He gestured toward the burning barn.
"This is Kane, and Shiang. They have come to help us hunt down the cultists before facing justice for their crimes."

Hezar |

We must do something to keep them from rising again, being attacked from behind will do us no good.

Osuki Nijena |

Nijena didn't make it very far before the heat of the inferno that had been the farm house rocked her back on her heels. At the same time, the waves of healing energy from Matthias's god left her back feeling cool and refreshed.
Coming to a halt, she looked over her shoulder at the others.
"If they are dead, I do not know that we can wait for the fire to cool enough to salvage the bodies. At least, not if we wish to prevent more bodies. Let us follow the killers, and pledge to return here to honor the fallen when those who have slain them have been brought to justice."
She turned back to the flames, forcing herself to take one more step closer than she'd been before, feeling her skin dry almost immediately. She held that distance as she whispered a prayer - and a vow - the words of which were consumed by the greedy, flame-heated wind even as they left her mouth.
After a moment, she took a step back, bowed to the inferno, and turned back to the others.
"We should go. Can everyone travel?

Hezar |

Let us take Marius and Tethys bodies then
