Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

I've done my part - Dilapidated Plaza closed! It's up to all of you! Sadly, my Blessing of the Spy is not something that will be useful. I can provide a +1d6 to any Perception check by recharging my Lookout, and that's about all the help I can offer from here.

Oloch Deck Handler

Yeah, honestly victory at this point should be relatively easy. Both enora and Celeste have multiple explores, although Enora using hers is risky. That Appleslayer's move and explore is going to be extremely useful, allowing celeste to finish both the tarworks and burn the second to last card of the Warehouse if he chooses to do so.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

We win! We win!

And more importantly, we get an ability score bonus!

Now that you've successfully completed the first scenario, here's what happens:

1. Everyone roll a d20 for the convention boons. A 1 or a 20 lets you pick one. That includes me, so here's my roll. Boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 17. Close but no dice.
2. You each get a skill feat.
3. You each get one deck upgrade from the cards you collectively acquired. If two people want the same one, you can either roll it off or discuss among yourselves. You have quite a lot to pick from this time though.

Acquired cards
Mumia Smugglers (Ally B)
Osirion Ancestor (Ally B)
Marianix Karn (Ally B)
Pahmet Clansman (Ally B)
Camel (Ally C)
Shield Cloak (Armor 1)
Armored Kilt (Armor B)
Blessing of the Ancients (Blessing B)
Feather of Maat (Item B)
Healer's Kit (Item B)
Burglar's Bracers (Item B)
Mummified Cat (Item 1)
Osirion History Guide (Item B)
Smoke Stick (Item 1)
Torch (Weapon B)

4. The scenario has an additional reward of access to three traders: Falsin Deek, Ghoul Market, and Sunburst Market.

There are some special rules for using traders in organized play, so I'll explain those a bit later, and get you the descriptions of those traders as well. For now, you can pick out your other rewards.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

I think I'm going to take a Charisma skill feat - it's the skill that saved Aric's bacon, and helped to win the scenario, after all.

In a similar roleplaying vein, and because I banished my Clockwork Spy, I'm going to take an Ally (C, just to be different) upgrade. That leaves the Item 1 (x2) and Armor 1 upgrades for all y'all.

Of course, if other people AREN'T going to take the Item 1 or Armor 1 upgrades, then I sure ain't gonna leave them on the table.

1d20 ⇒ 12 Boo....

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

Adding Onmyoji from the Occult Adventures deck to replace my Clockwork Spy.

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

1d20 ⇒ 18

I'll take the INT skill feat, since I don't make checks to recharge spells.

I can't use armor, and my "1" items are almost useless, I won't be upgrading them. I'm tempted to upgrade to Blessing of Pharasma, but, I don't want to get burned by the "if you are 7 over, add a monster to the location".

So, I'm going to replace Amadi with Zae, using one of the Ally B's.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

Hmmm....I’d be very keen to know what Erasmus and Oloch are taking. I might not take an Ally B/C if Item 1 upgrades are left on the table. I still need to replace the Clockwork Spy because I had to banish it during the game, but it’ll be replaced from Basic upgrades if I decide to do that.

Enora's Deck Handler

I will gladly take an Item 1 upgrade, since it seems like there's going to be some left. Just to make sure, we can only swap out one of our cards? I was thinking of using the Item upgrade to get the Riffle Scrolls to allow me to take a cure, but I'm not sure if I am allowed to swap out one of my spells and the Item. Also, I'll be taking an Intelligence upgrade.

d20: 1d20 ⇒ 20

Oh wow I wasn't expecting to actually get this far. I remember reading something about this, do I just pick a type of boon?

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

Envy!

Congrats! For the boon, you get to pick any one of the faction rewards I listed on the previous page. Just let me know which one (1-7) you want. You can attach it to Enora right away, or save it for later or a different character.

(As I'm typing this I realize I should really be calling it a convention reward; boon is a confusing word since it already means something else in PACG.)

For the upgrade, yes you swap out one card, and it has to be of the same type. So if you take an Item 1 upgrade, you choose an Item B or Item 1 in your class deck box, and then replace one of your current items in your character deck with that card.

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

We we be able to continue to scenario B?

We will, and I'm hoping all of you will want to continue together. (You're not required to, of course.) I'm just waiting for Gimry's reward choices now.

Enora's Deck Handler

Nice! That makes much more sense. I'll take reward number 2, please! Also, I just remembered I banished one of my divine spells so I do have to replace that. I will probably actually replace that with Remove Curse, since those scourges get pretty rough.

Oloch Deck Handler

I'll be taking the Armor 1 upgrade, and swapping the Bone Spikes for a Champion's Do-Maru. I will also be utilizing the Wisdom Skill feat.

d20: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Coolbeans!

I think I'll be taking reward 5 please

Rigged!

Just kidding. Here's what I have for your rewards, so you can double check.

Dinketry/Aric: 30475-1012, Charisma +1, Item 1 (do you want to switch to this one?)
Ira kroll/Celeste: 5369-1015, Intelligence +1, Ally B
Eslibedesh/Enora: 341615-1001, Intelligence +1, Item 1, Faction reward #2 Dark Archive, Society Initiate
Gimry/Oloch: 341212-1001, Wisdom +1, Armor 1, Faction reward #5 The Exchange, Society Initiate

I guess we're all about the mental stats this time around.

Ok, traders. Basically, at the start of each scenario (after you see what its setup will be) you can choose to visit a single trader. For most of them, I put out some random cards of the scenario's adventure deck or one below: the number of cards you get to see is one more than the number of people who visited there. Then you can trade away cards of the required cost, and put the card you traded for into your deck. At the end of the scenario it goes back into the game box and you get your traded-away cards back.

I've added the actual rules text to the Campaign Info tab, so you can look there for reference.

I don't know whether you've all played Mummy's Mask before, but if you're not familiar with traders in general, it would be good to read those rules in the Mummy's Mask rulebook (available for free here).

As your scenario 1 reward you just got access to Falsin Deek (who takes 2 boons in exchange for Items), the Ghoul Market (2 boons for Armors), and the Sunburst Market, which has every boon with the Basic trait in the Mummy's Mask set available, and each one costs 1 boon.

My explanation may not have been very clear... if that didn't make sense maybe it will when you see it in action. I'll set up the next scenario tomorrow, and then you can go visit the traders and choose starting locations.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

I have a question that needs a ruling before I decide on my deck upgrade.

As a base deck from the ‘Ultimate’ series, I get to choose to add the cards from one non-Ultimate deck to my deck. I chose the Occult Adventures deck.

My only card from the Occult Adventures deck so far is the Silver Balladeer (Ally B, Basic). I’d like to add the Hypnotist’s Locket as an Item 1 deck upgrade.

The thing is: the locket is from the second Occult Adventures deck. The Silver Balladeer is from the first Occult Adventures deck. Are OA1 and OA2 two different decks, or are they all the same OA deck? The same question would be valid for the Hell’s Vengeance decks.

If they are two different decks, then I will take my Ally B deck upgrade (from OA1) and forego the Item 1 deck upgrade. If they are the same deck, then I’ll take the locket as an Item 1 upgrade as previously stated.

I hope I’m not over-thinking this. I’m hoping for a cogent ruling.

They’re two different decks. You have to choose one or the other, so only OA1 in this case.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

Ok, then I stand by my Ally B deck upgrade as posted previously.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

Hey GM, I just checked with cartmanbeck on this (as he is playing Aric/Red Raven in an ACG game that I'm BRing): Aric is unique in that Skill and Power feat upgrades that he gets selected twice for each upgrade: once on his card, and once on Red Raven's card.

I'll choose to upgrade Red Raven's Dexterity skill on his card. Sorry for the confusion.

No problem. So final version:

Dinketry/Aric/Red Raven: 30475-1012, Charisma +1/Dexterity +1, Ally B

Enora's Deck Handler

Me and Gimry are also going to be unavailable until Sunday afternoon, sorry!

I'll just post the full scenario now, so it will be ready whenever everyone's ready to go.

For Gimry's question about auto-success rolls:

On boons, I sometimes just say that I auto-acquire it and don't bother rolling. It's probably a better habit to actually roll them out though, especially for banes. Sometimes the actual result matters - for example, this adventure's rule about the first check to defeat being over by 7 or more. Sometimes there's a special location effect. It's all too easy to forget that kind of thing when you're busy going through your turn (and I speak from personal experience). Even for boons though, it's easier to look for a green-colored roll line to see at a glance if someone acquired/defeated a card or not.

So short answer - it's up to you, but I think it doesn't hurt to roll everything out, and it helps everyone keep track of what's happening.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

I'm still awaiting Enora's starting hand, just in case.

Dinketry's question was deleted as I was answering it, since it no longer applies. But it's worth answering, in case it comes up again: yes a close due to defeating a henchman would be considered part of the same exploration. See Vic's comment here.

Oloch Deck Handler

Also, your turn brought up a good point, I hadn't realized when reading it initially. The scenario powers kick in at the end of the turn and not the end of your first exploration. So Aric actually needs to do a check to avoid the Gnolls in the Murder Holes peppering you while you fought the Hyenamaster since he did have a combat this turn even though it was his second explore.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

I’m not done my turn yet.

Oloch Deck Handler

AH. Gotcha. Nothing to see here. Carry on.

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

It would be nice if there were some way to get notifications on my phone that a conversation here has a new message...

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

Sorry for the delay - work here is nuts! Incoming post in 15min.

Oloch Deck Handler

In case you hadn't noticed, Celeste has found the Villain sitting in the Warehouse waiting for us on top of the deck. Once we get a couple locations closed, we can move in for the win! So stay away from the Warehouse until we're ready to finish up. We have a really good spread of fire power, so we should have lots of options to re-position for temp closes.

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

Celeste curtsies

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

I noticed! Great job!

Oloch Deck Handler

Well, that turn worked out. If I had actually gotten the Kurki, I would have used my BotG to explore and then not had it for the fight, but would have had the weapon I guess. 1 Location closed, 1 more to go before we can focus on the Villain.

Oloch Deck Handler

@Celeste, I noticed that you can't currently take a hand wipe. Do you want me to stop by and give you a heal or do you think you're OK?

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

I should be fine. I've got five cards in my deck (all from recharges, so I know exactly what I'm going to get.)

I'm unlikely to get a complete hand-wipe. But, if I should have to discard another card, I'd appreciate the heal.

Oloch Deck Handler

Enora could move on her turn to defeat the Villain and attempt to end this scenario. Do we want to do that or continue exploring?

I vote end it now.

If we want to keep going, I'll head to Celeste and drop a heal and if anyone wants that Ally1 on the top of the Brickworks I won't be able to succeed that check so feel free to grab it.

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

Enora should try.

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

If we are going to close, it's a good thing that I'm still Aric for now. My location requires a CHA check for (temp) closure. The Red Raven is not charismatic.

I'm good with closing now.

Oloch Deck Handler

Sounds like it's unanimous. Enora wont be home for a few hours, but they're on board.

I count 4 Blessings available. I'm going to use one of mine for my close, Enora can use then other on the combat. Celeste has 2 available. (Aric has 1, but it's the Spy Blessing which I don't think adds a die, is that correct?) Since we're all in agreement, can we go ahead and make our temp closes now so that when Enora takes her turn all the temp closes are taken care of since those have to be done prior to the actual combat?

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

Yes, my blessing of the spy isn't exactly useful to others. I'll make my temp close in the Gameplay thread.

M American Nerd 3/Cleric 1

Celeste has no cards to contribute to the group.

Celeste will increase her hand size for her Power Feat

1 or 20 for boon: 1d20 ⇒ 14

Roll for boon: 1d20 ⇒ 13

In addition to your first power feat and the chance to roll for a convention reward, you also collectively get access to two items for future scenarios in this Adventure Path. The instructions for using them are in my gameplay post.

These are the only cards I have as acquired. Let me know if I'm missing anything. If we in fact only have three cards available for upgrades, then I will roll to see what the fourth one is (as instructed in the guild guide).

Tussah Silk Coat (Armor C)
Filter Hood (Armor B)
Blessing of Horus (Blessing B)

Oloch Deck Handler

I will take the feat to return my displayed cards at the start of my turn.

The only card I got was the Filter Hood.

I would love to upgrade to the new Spear, but know that Aric could use it as well.

Since I got the upgrade after the first scenario, do I still roll again?

Yes, you still get to roll for every scenario. A character can only have one reward applied at a time, but if you win another one you can save it for after that one gets used up, or use it for another ACG guild character.

Oloch Deck Handler

OK Rolling my d20.

Upgrade: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Welp. No luck a second time. :)

Enora's Deck Handler

My power feat will be the recharging instead of discarding to add 1d8 to all checks to acquire or recharge a magic card.

Reward: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Deck Handler for Aric/RedRaven - Dinketry

My power feat for

Aric: At the start of your turn ([X] or when you examine a card in a location deck), you may replace your character and token with the Red Raven's. Then you may exchange a card in your hand with a card in your kit.

Red Raven: At the end of your move step ([X] or turn), you may examine the top card of your location deck. ([ ] If it is a monster, you may encounter it.)

1d20 ⇒ 6

I picked up an Armor B.

Not so interested in the spear because it doesn't have Finesse and I'm a DEX-based martial character.
