GM 8574 |

The next room is about twenty feet by thirty feet in size. The northern wall of this otherwise empty room is a tangle of what look to have once been strange cages of some sort. Tangled amid the metal ribs of these cages are ribs of a more organic nature - the ancient bones of some sort of alien creature. Smaller mounds of rubble lie against the southern wall, partially obscuring a closed door. To the east, there is a pair of double doors that lead to a small chamber, and through to what appears to be a large, open area with a sandy floor. The exit is back to the west, behind you.
What do you do?

*S.c.a.r.l.e.t.* |

Scarlet moves to catch up with the others, though her aim never wavers from the metal golem.
She stops in the door way, the better to both cover every one in the new chamber as well as keep an eye on the metal golem now behind the group.

Oleg Dhuzy |

Oleg finishes somewhat clumsily poking through the rubble looking for anything technological or interesting.
Search: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15
"Yes, let us go on. I worry about the skeletons that Sef warned us about. There must be more than one or two, as it prevented them from exploring this area further. It might be a challenge for us as well." Oleg runs his hand through his hair in a gesture of thought "I was thinking of setting up some kind of trap for the creatures here, somehow using these cages, but I could not think of anything useful. Do we have any means of fighting the undead, other than brute force?" Turning to Bosh and Cinder"Or perhaps some magical means of scouting the area ahead?"

GM 8574 |

As Oleg rummages in the rubble, then turns to face the others, you all hear a series of clicks, and then a humming whirrrrrrrrr that sets your teeth on edge. Back through the doorway, you see a light come on, emanating from the construct. It staggers to its three feet, turns and approaches the room you occupy, clamps extended.
What do you do?

*S.c.a.r.l.e.t.* |

"So much for finding the 'Off' switch." Is Scarlet's comment even as she draws a bead and fires.

Thence beginning to take five foot steps back and away form the advancing golum.

Oleg Dhuzy |

Oleg moves to block the doorway into the room to prevent the construct from entering, or at least slow it down. He blurts out "Co ty robisz, zatrzymaj sie!" at the construct, not really expecting a response. He readies a counter-punch in case he is attacked by the machine-man.

GM 8574 |

Scarlet's bolt pings off of the thing's metal shell, but it seems to take no notice. The construct turns its monocular head toward Oleg and replies in a humming monotone, "Jesteś uszkodzenia konstrukcji. Będziesz zaniechania lub być zatrzymany tak, że naprawa może rozpocząć." It raises its four fingered hands and approaches Oleg by the pile of stones.

Oleg Dhuzy |

Oleg, in a higher pitched voice and completely surprised, manages to say "My przestajemy, nie musisz nas zatrzymywac. Naprawiaj z pokojem!" and turns to the group in common "It thinks we're damaging something in here, it just wants us to stop so it can continue repairing. Not sure what triggered it, but if we avoid touching anything, we should be ok."

GM 8574 |

The construct looks between Bosh and Oleg before vocalizing, "Połączenie z serwerami niedostępnych. Rutynowa remont linii poleceń inicjacyjna. Odsuń się." It moves to the pile of rubble, and a blue light beams forth from its monocular face-plate to cover the area.
It then turns and scans the rest of this room and into the next. "Analiza naprawa została zakończona. Integralność Ścienne, zagrożona Podtrzymywania życia, zagrożona. Oświetlenie, zagrożona. Powstrzymywanie przyrody, zagrożona. Pokój dezynfekujący, zagrożona. Począwszy napraw." It walks over to the odd cages, grabs the bars with its manipulator hands, and begins to bend them back into what you presume to be it's original shape, but at the current rate it appears to have several hours of work in front of it. It seems to be paying little attention to you now.
What do you do?

Oleg Dhuzy |

Oleg replies to Scarlet "I'm not sure I know what it said. You ever have one of those moments where you understood every word of what was said, but had no idea what it all meant?" Oleg shrugs "I'll give it my best though. I think its missing a rope for talking with its servants, and it's going to make one as it makes repairs? Then it said something about someone that got their big head cracked open and died...on a farm I think, because it said something about a corral or pen for animals being broken...and had some kind of room for keeping the diseased animals? But they escaped because it's broken? It's the word infect with a couple extra letters at the front and back. It's really hard to make sense of."
Oleg smiles enthusiastically "The parts I'm sure of are this: It wants us to leave it and the room alone so it makes its repairs and the way ahead is dark, because the torches aren't lit."
Then, pondering what Sef mentioned earlier, Oleg offers one last bit of advice. "Seeing as this thing seems pretty obsessed with nothing interfering with its repairs, if the skeletons Sef mentioned are a problem, we can maybe lure them back here and see how Mr. Repair here handles them?" Oleg begins to walk towards the next room "Otherwise we might as well move on, and hope the big head that's dead isn't Khonnir"

Cinder Shellback |

Cinder sidles up to Oleg, putting her weapon away as she does. "You are going to have to teach me that language. To be able to talk to things that inhabit the Torch and other artifacts!" She grins, imagining the wonders that she could learn.

Oleg Dhuzy |

"Sure thing, Cinder" Oleg responds "The basics is that "Nie" means no and "Tak" means yes. You'll pick it up easy, but making sense of it is hard. The words don't always make sense. For example, this thing said "Life Support Compromised"..that's a strange way of saying someone died, but what else could it mean? Oleg giggles "Well, it is a machine, maybe it's just a little slow in the head. Maybe it doesn't know all the words and is trying to make sense with the wrong ones?"

Bosh Firebeard |

"It's speaking about this lab, how some things are broken and what he is going to repair. And I agree with Oleg, let's not interfere with its repairs or things will get ugly." Bosh inspects the movements of the machine trying no to be on its way...he will go after the others when they move.

GM 8574 |

You move confidently into the next room, leaving the repair bot to it's service work. Two strange machines sit to the north and south against the walls here, their faces appear similar to coils of metal tubes with several nozzle-like protrusions pointing into the room itself. Through the open doorway to the east, you can see a sandy floor and tunnel carved from red stone that winds to the left. That might be a retcon - apologies if so.
Investigate or press onward?

GM 8574 |

You've heard of contraptions like this that have been found in other archaeological expeditions, but conjectures about their original function are still unclear. Either they are for communication to another set of pipes elsewhere, or for the delivery of a gas of some type. You've not seen or heard of them activated, though, so even with your expertise it's difficult to be sure.

Oleg Dhuzy |

Oleg thinks about his past experience and states to the party "This might be a trap, these tubes look like they might be perfect for poison gas. Good thing we haven't set it off or it's broken."
Oleg will follow the group's lead onward.

GM 8574 |

You head into the short tunnel, turning a left corner and coming upon a horrific aberration. Part hard carapace, and part grasping tentacles, a large monstrosity detaches from the nearby rock tunnel walls and surges towards you!

"Back away from the thing! The ground around it is a trap!" Scarlet takes her own advice and moves back/away with a 'Five foot step' the better for her allies/friends to keep clear of the possible danger.

”Oof” Oleg says, teeth gritting in pain. Turning to the monster, Oleg defiantly shouts ”Well beastie, not good enough! Your turn to bleed!” before advancing on the creature and taking a swing at it with his meaty fist, a glass shard wedged firmly into it. It’s obvious the big man is badly hurt, wincing with every movement.

I know it's not the tactically smart move, but, it would leave Cinder alone to get clobbered, and Oleg's wisdom is pretty low. And of course, minimum damage in response to it's maximum damage lol. Thanks dice!

GM 8574 |

Cinder, my bad - you shouldn't have been attacked last round. Bosh, I'll say that you can take a position to shoot around Oleg and Cinder before they move forward to avoid the "shooting into melee" penalty. Though note that your Crossbow's damage should be 1d8. don't cheat yourself! I'll roll again and we'll take whichever is higher.Bosh Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5. Looks like we'll take your roll.
Bosh's bolt slams home between plates in its chitinous shell. Cinder's smash lands hard, but can't seem to penetrate, but Oleg's glass shard finds a seam and cuts home, and the creature cries out as smoky, greyish-purple ichor begins oozing from its tentacle.
Scarlet, I keep forgetting that you are wearing smoked goggles. Remember, 20% concealment when they are on.

Oleg, clubbed in the head, falls heavily to the ground, his body a horrible mess of bruises and cuts.

Scarlet, shooting over Oleg's unconscious form, sends a bolt that slams home between a crack in the creature's carapace, eliciting another scream of pain from it.
