Edlethron |

Round 1
Edlethron draws his gnollbow and shoots the creature from the doorway. The arrow plugs into the deck next to Khaz.
longbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6

GM Infinity |

Vic's bolt easily penetrates the grells exposed brain, lodging itself disgustingly in the gyrus (folds). It shrieks in pain, though it has a face absent of any certain features...the shriek almost sounds like a roar. The brain damage seems to have set one of its tentacles wild, like the twitching of a dead insect it contracts and contorts awkwardly in an uncontrollable manner.

Edlethron |

Round 1 shooter's proof
Edlethron draws his gnollbow and shoots the creature from the doorway. The arrow still plugs into the deck next to Khaz.

No worries Kriv, I like to give at least 24 hours before botting
Khaz smashes the pulsing aberrant brain again and again. True, it was something new to smash a brain without a skull for once, but Khaz was sure he could learn from the experience. Kriv jumps off the bow twirling into the tentacles with his drow blades, chopping one after the other.

”Die! Die! Why won’t ye fookin’ die already?” Khaz roared as he rained blows down on it.

GM Infinity |

After getting struck down the throat with one of Edlethron's gnoll arrows, Khaz pinches the brain between his hammer and the bow, squeezing the last bit of thought from the predator.
Combat over, but depending on how Kriv's paralyze save goes, might need a str ath or dex acro check to grab him before he falls into the water...he was standing up on the point of the bow.

Edlethron |

Edlethron recovers one of his two arrows. "Anyone know what that thing was?"
"And Captain Froog, that faerie fire is awesome!"

Cade Whistler |

"Seriously. The music don't you hear that strange airy music." Cade looks up from where he landed thankfully in the boat.

Kriv The Exile |

Con Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
With utmost ease Kriv manages to shrug of his Paralyzation with pure anger, just barely catching himself from being pulled over the side of the ship with the grell.
"I hate the underdark, I hate the underdark, I HATE THE UNDERDARK."
gonna admit....completely expected to fail that.

Froog Nackle |

Froog climbs to the deck to check on Cade. While making his way he says, "Oh yes Edlethron. That spell can light up a room light you wouldn't believe! All the little knickknacks and things start to glow. It's a very handy spell."
Surrounded by faint music, nothing about only you hearing it I believe.
Once he gets close to Cade he looks around, searching for the source of the music. "I do hear some music. I had just assumed you cast a spell to cause it. You mean you didn't make that happen?"
He then casts a healing spell on Cade to take care of the worst of the bruising and bites.
cure wounds: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Cade Whistler |

Cade thanks Froog. He is about to answer but, "Oh wait it stopped. I don't think it was me. I mean I didn't intend it. Magic for me can be irregular. Like a bear catching a fish. Ideally the fish leaps right in as intended other times it his you in the face and beats its tail in your eye."

Froog Nackle |

"Does anyone know what that flag means? Froog asks Shuushar. He has obviously learned to not trust anything or anyone outside this small group of refugees.
I'm assuming we're on 'open water' rather than the small chambers and passages we had earlier?

GM Infinity |

Yes it is a much more open cavern than before, an expanse at least 100 ft wide. You can still see stalactites coming down from above though, maybe 60 ft up.
Shuushar squints "Afraid I couldn't say."
Topsy scratches his neck "Damn, this is makin' me nervous. Kuo toa are crazy...present company excluded of course...you're alright, Shuushar."
Ront tightens his grip "I say we sink their ship and take everything they got..."

Cade Whistler |

”Sounds dangerous, halfling. For yerself an’ everyone around ye. Any chance ye’ll set us all on fire?”
Cade looks at the dwarf, "That's not likely to happen . . . as far as I know."

Froog Nackle |

"I might not trust them but that doesn't mean we need to attack everyone we see. I'm going to see if I can see what they want. Open some communication." Froog casts a spell and when he next speaks it is much louder than before.
in Undercommon
"You there! Who are you and why do you approach us?! Be warned that any hostile acts will be met in kind! We have met strangers on our journey and it hasn't ended well for them!"
Cast Thaumaturgy

GM Infinity |

Nice use of Thaumaturgy :D
The one in charge seems to ignore you shouting "Bind them...for the Leemooggoogoon!" the crew cheers in rally, though it sounds more like: "GGGhghrrrgllgshhggorglllsssh!" Some of them take to the water with nets, spears, and odd shields...
Shuushar looks confused, and hurt "Leemooggoogoon? What's Leemooggoogoon...?"
Topsy and Turvy start growling ferociously at the advancing enemies, oddly enough it seems long hairs are extending from their little gnomish backs...
I'll roll init and get map setup, might take a bit for this one

GM Infinity |

K, think map is all set. Took me a while because I couldnt remember how to do transparent background with shit. Also eating goulash. The normal kuotoa are outlined in unique colors for calling them out, please use those in your posts. "Boss" is pink one with a different picture.

GM Infinity |

Swimming requires no check in this water, but squares cost double.
Attacks made in the water to a creature in the water have disadvantage, unless the weapon is a dagger, javelin, shortsword, spear, or trident.
Ranged attacks can not work beyond their first (short) range. Ranged attacks within this short range have disadvantage, unless weapon is a crossbow, a net, or a weapon that is thrown like a javelin (including a spear, trident, or dart).
Creatures in water have resistance to fire damage.

Victor "Vic" Lofliss |

Round 1
Vic fires his hand Xbow at the pink leader.
Hand XBow Att: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

Edlethron |

Round 1
Edlethron follows his cousin's example and fires his gnollbow at the leader.
Longbow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

The elven assault streams across the cavern, finding meat in the end. The leader takes cover as the other kuo-toa continue their mad scramble. c grapple vs Edlethron: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Khaz and Ed also need to roll for the initial grapple contest. You can choose to use str ath or dex acro, and it sets the DC for the above grapple rolls. If they beat your roll, they will drag you a few squares into the water.

Froog Nackle |

Round 1: I've been waiting to do this!!
Froog sees the attacking fish men trying to surround them so he holds his makeshift holy symbol aloft and cries out to his god, "LATHANDER! SHOW OUR ENEMIES YOUR WRATH!"
His holy symbol starts to glow before there is a brilliant flash leaving the attacking kuotoan raiders burned.

GM Infinity |

Froog once again opens a spiritual anchor to sunlight through the layers of mantle piled on Underdark. The kuotoa grimace in pain, lacking eyelids they cannot escape the burning radiance...

Cade Whistler |

Round 1
GM you mentioned that Froog got "all but the leader." There are still some on the map. If there are still enemies up closer I will shoot for them protecting Froog first. If the figh guys near him are still kicking. Otherwise see below.
Cade scurries up the mast to get a clear shot at the leader of the other ship. He holds on with one hand chanting and pitches a fire orb at the captain of the other ship.
Tides of Chaos for advantage, casts Fire Orb.

Fire Bolt Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 7

GM Infinity |

Sorry for confusion Cade, I meant the area of effect got them all except leader. None of them died. I meant to put some health counters earlier. There is only one dead (cyan).
So you want me to apply that roll to one of the others?
