Claws out, Pisco once again slashes at the centaur in hopes of bringing it down quickly.

The horrors take a beating yet still stand on all 4s, hooves clacking everywhere with spears jabbing with a mechanical frequency. They seem to be getting more energetic as time goes on, as if the bond holding them to this plane is strengthening.

Centaur Mummies
Katra <--UP
Everyone up again
Katra Ironfist
Katra will ignore the creatures and move to Lidras after seeing him take that beating. When she arrives, she will call down the healing glow of Moradin's forge and pour it into Lidras.
Cure Wounds as a 3rd level spell: 3d8 + 4 ⇒ (4, 7, 8) + 4 = 23

15 damage done, absorbed, and reflected. Then 17 damage done, for a total of 22 damage suffered overall throughout the day. Katra then healed 23
It was, in all respects, a quite unpleasant experience. First a hoof hit him square in the face. He felt his jaw break, which was just as painful as it sounded with the audible crack. And, before even a tooth could fall out, the injury was gone. Stumbling back, he would have (tried) to say something witty, but all he could think about was the taste of copper.

He redoubled his attack, drawing on every shred of combat experience and training he had. He wanted it dead and he wanted it dead now.
38 force damage and 15 cold damage
GM Infinity
Lidras, shocked and somewhat haughty from the blow, instantly decapitates the centaur mummy, its gross half horse half human torso twitching disgustingly on the floor, spilling out old saffron spice and oddly tied bundles of offal wrapped in parchments.
Red's dead baby, red's dead.
Round 3:
Lidras, Cloud, Pisco <--UP
Centaur Mummies
Katra
Cloudrunner
Nice reference! "You ok?" "I'm a long f*&#ing way from ok."
"Lidras! No - oh, nice work, Katra! Now, let's finish this!!" Cloud growls as he spins back to attack the other.

Cloud, no worries. It was all part of our sneaky plan to do cold damage to the enemy by having it kick Lidras’ face in.
Hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Hit: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
With the enemy focusing on his ally, Lidras circled around and unleashed his fury upon the last standing foe.
Cloudrunner
Cloud shrugs, "Been better, but nothing I can't handle. Nice work everyone. Those things were... rather extra ugly."
I'm not quite to half hp, but close. So I'm fine for now if we want to ration healing, or I still have a Second Wind if I get hit too bad in our next scuffle.

GM: 1d12 ⇒ 7
Nothing wanders here but the party it seems. As you gather your strength back up, you might plunder the nearby urns for a monkey statue, an electrum serpent bracelet, 2 crushed silver masks, and some jade hairpins all worth 100s of gold likely.
Checking behind the western door, it looks like a huge, thin rectangular slab of jade has fallen and shattered on the floor...it also seems to be stomped on by a number of creatures, most notably the impressions of horse hooves have ground certain sections to dust in a 'u' shape.
Cloudrunner
Sounds good! I also get my Action Surge back.
4 Hit die of healing: 4d10 ⇒ (6, 1, 2, 9) = 18
Cloudrunner sits down and leans back on one of the centaur mummy remains and promptly falls asleep, snoring away until roused an hour later. He picks bits of bandage and small bundles of dried centaur organs out of his fur and then stretches in a distinctly feline way.
"Alright, I feel a lot better. Thanks! Let's go!" Gripping his sword, he starts to walk down the hallway but stops.
"Hey, Pisco! There any traps up here? Or do we look clear?"
Pisco
Pisco searches the room, discovering a number of valuable items, which he puts away for "safe" keeping. He rests with the others, then moves forward to check the hallway for anything out of the ordinary.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
GM Infinity
Nice, I was hoping someone would roll active here.
Pisco, you slinker down the hall hyper-aware, your eyes glowing slightly from the dim light, ready for anything...this five-foot-diameter passage is dry and dusty. Near the top of the corridor walls, about three feet from the ceiling, stone lintels run the length of the passage. The corridor abruptly widens to a cube fifteen feet on a side with a corrugated floor. In the ceiling of this area, a bronze, circular trapdoor is set. The cover is latched shut.
In the four corners of this foyer are sets of metal rungs forming a ladder that leads up and across the arched ceiling to the trapdoor. The rungs are broken in several places, leaving rusty spikes. On the other side of this area, the corridor continues.
However, just before this cubic chamber, you spot a secret door to your left, and you think pulling one of the lintels down will open it.
Cloudrunner
Secret door! Nothing bad ever happens from those.
If it was interesting, it wouldn’t still be secret tho, right? ;) Just kidding, I’m fine with secret door, too!
GM Infinity
You pass through a small antechamber before it opens up into a larger offertory area. The walls are painted flat black, while the floor is inlaid with a colorful mosaic of strange gods cavorting and leaping around a sun. An alcove in the center of the eastern wall is masked by a curtain of shells and beads.
GM Infinity
Pisco, you do not find any deceptive traps. Behind the curtain is the chalky form of a statue seated on a stone throne with its surface carved to depict feathers. The statue is wearing a feathered headdress and a feathered robe. Lying across its lap in its open palms is a scepter seemingly formed from a solid diamond with an eagle’s head crafted on one end and the talons of a bird holding a blazing sun of gold on the other. The most remarkable thing about the statue is its face: it's Katra.
Katra Ironfist
"I'm just a simple shieldmaiden of Moradin. I have no idea how a statue of me got here, especially wearing that ridiculous getup." says Katra as she moves over and triggers the trap tries to pick up the diamond scepter.
GM Infinity
Katra, the scepter comes up into your hand as easily as a mug of ale, but you start to lose sight of your surroundings and enter a strange mental landscape. You witness visions of great battles, jaguar warriors and tribal dwarves engaged on jungle mountain-sides against demonic hoards under a sunless red sky. One warrior in particular looks almost exactly like you, going toe-to-toe with a double baboon faced, tentacled, demon.
For the others, you see her standing there sweating, but slowly turning to stone. At the same time, Katra-statue is becoming flesh and speaks "Friends! I think I have just merged with an earlier incarnation of myself...I feel stronger than ever before! Also, I've seen the way out of this damnable place! A hatch just there, back in the hall. Come, let us go..."
Lidras Mitheredal
|
"Ah yes." Lidras said dryly. "Let us trust the statue that just came to life, within ruins full of traps, illusions, and creatures that have tried to kill us at every turn." He then shrugged, and said with a smile: "But, I believe our dwarven colleague is now queen. I would defer to her majesty in this matter."
Cloudrunner
1 person marked this as a favorite.
"Ah... so the statue copied you! Just like I am a copy of the original Cloudrunner. Just kidding!"
As she starts to turn to stone and the statue come to life, Cloudrunner yells, "No!! Another trap with another evil doppleganger! Someone help her!" He then starts trying to wrest the scepter from her grasp.
Cloudrunner
”Enough with this place! You! Can! Not! Take! My! FRIEND!!!”
Str Athletics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Noooo!!!!!!
Can I Action Surge to take an extra action this round?
