Rhen snorts at the merc's statement. "Everything you know? You can't spend time around a mercenary company and camp without learning more than that." He then digs down into some more detailed questions...

"How many mercenaries, cultists, kobolds are there?
Who leads them?
What do you know about the leaders?
Sketch out the camp's layout and indicate guard posts.
Do you have any magical support - other than the dragon?"

I was hired out of a small town and worked with a group that numbers twenty-ish. Cultist and Kobolds are in a separate part of camp. The cultist come and deliver our coin. I don't know who leads them, nor anything about them.

He draws a crude map that shows a few tents and says that is where they are confined. The only ones lesser on the food chain are the kobolds.

I think we are working for the dragon.

Darius snorts at the thought of working for a dragon.

"A particularly deluded bunch, isn't it?" Darius says as he shakes his head in disgust.

"We should hurry to the temple. Perhaps we can spare a few more lives this night."

"But don't think we're done with you, curr. We'll speak once this night is over."

Darius then asks Nighthill about requisitioning some arrows for his shortbow.

Your full up on ammo Darius.

The temple is a large building, made of fieldstone with a peaked slate roof, and square in shape. It is taller than most other buildings in town.

Raiders have surrounded the sanctuary. Singe marks on the temple have proven that the building thus far as been resistant to fire. Now they have deployed a makeshift battering ram. It's only a matter of time, possibly minutes, before the temple's main doors crumple under the assault, leaving the villagers inside helpless.

Do we have a surprise round or did they spot us during our approach?

When Darius reaches the end of his countdown, Gilandiril utters the now familiar incantation and unleashes a frozen ray of moonlight at one of the purple-clad humans.

Earlier, before they left for the temple

As he rejoined his companions to head to the temple, Gilandiril said, "My friends, I must apologize for my sudden outburst. I assure you I am not normally given to fits of temper."

He exhaled heavily, and then added, "It has been a long night and I suppose I let my exhaustion get the better of me. I wanted to thank you all for your calming words."

He clasped hands with each of them in turn, saying, "May the Daughter of the Night Skies see us all safely through this trial."

As they made their way to the temple, Gilandiril fell in step beside Adrick, saying in Dwarvish, "Friend dwarf, back there in the cell, you said the All-Father showed you the prisoner's fate? Sehanine reveals such things to me, as well, but it is always through dreams during my daily reverie, never while I am awake."

Gil's ray of moonlight hits the ground at the feet of the Dragonclaw (a human warrior with a stylized mask, perhaps one of the higher ranking one's) harmlessly.

Two Kobolds respond to Gil's attack with slingstones, while the other four split on the more heavily armored in your group: Ragar and Adrick.

Ragar (I believe you are in death saves now, I can count your attack roll as a success if you wish)

Adrick responds to the assault on him by the kobolds by crushing one of their heads with his warhammer.

Darius pierces through the mask's eyehole of the Dragonclaw, dropping him immediately.

Cultist stops with the battering ram, draws a scimitar and immediately closes in on Darius, in response to his senior going down.
