About Rhen Jaedra
Rhen's family used to be in some demand about the frontier. His grandfather, Colonel Beriel Jaedra, formed the core of a military specialist unit - one dedicated to slaying dragons. Twelve dragons were known to fall to the Colonel and his elite band, a band that included his son Quarion and daughter-in-law Mella as well as a half-dozen other specialists. Rhen was just learning the ropes as a young squire when the Cult of the Dragon managed to pull together enough resources to ambush the Colonel's outfit and break it up. The Colonel, himself, fell that night along with his son, but Mella escaped with Rhen. They believed that a few others escaped the trap that night, but scattered to the winds and went to ground.
Since then, the Cult of the Dragon has hounded their heels. Mella, weary of the harsh life, sought out refuge in Evereska, but Rhen, still energetic and determined to oppose the Cult, stayed on move and kept a low profile. For a time, he thought the Cult had forgotten him, but the last run in with their thugs (Bond #6) showed that to not be the case.
