Reworking Fall-Off Options

Prerelease Discussion

Little weird, but I'm probably not the only one thinking it. There are a lot of concepts I think need a little buff.

Case in point: Poison. Pretty much no good for non-hyper-specialized class options past early levels. DCs are just too low.

Maybe we'll hear about reworking some of these kinds of things? Maybe when crafting poisons you could up the DC yourself with a good check? Or give them scroll-like costs? Base poison cost x crafter's given DC.

Loose idea, probably other things that also need it. Thoughts/Hopes?

Maybe the problem is that, unlike spells, poisons can be stored indefinitely.
If you stack up enough doses of poison, with a high enough DC, you basically end up with a huge amount of save-or-die mundane spells

I suppose. They still eat a lot of your character's current costs though, even with crafting. Not to mention still needing some feats or racial/class abilities like Poison Use. Also, much like fire damage, many creatures become resistant or immune to most poisons, still not making them great. This was just my example though. When the most expensive and highest DC poison is only 26, and the base for most non-competent things hover around 10-13 in the high levels, an option may be a tad underwhelming.

They've already mentioned that poisons and diseases will be more deadly.

I am guessing that they are using something like the Pathfinder Unchained rules for those afflictions then.

I would love that they made poisons and diseases have more effects than just ability damage, and I would love if they made poisons have an effect for chronic exposure. To be fair I probably would make poisons far more complex than they need to be but I do think they are too simplistic the way they are and could do with a big reworking
