Interest check for Log Horizon RPG

Hi, as the thread name says, this is to check if people are interested in playing Log Horizon rpg.

The system would be Log Horizon RPG system which is 2d6 + modifier and beat a target number normally. This will be a very grid map game mostly a 8x8 map, or 12x12(8).

I understand is learning a very straight forward system, and some people don't like it, thus why I'm trying to see what is the interest on a game like this.

That one? Looks interesting.

I like the Anime quite a bit (and as an aside, Database is one of my all-time fav Ops). Consider me interested.

Yes indeed Madcaster, I do have the Celdesia Gazettes so there is plenty of more skills added for each class and for almost all sub-classes.

While it's a very tactical RPG, because of the grid map, it is also because of the Hate mechanic which is like the aggro in MMO's.

I have downloaded the rules and I am reading through them now. Did you have any idea for what timeframe and server we would be playing on?

If enough interested players want, American servers could be interesting just to avoid the Japanese server, the issue comes with the change of classes which Pirate hasn't shown any skills for while medicine man has at least an idea of how it got reskinned and its own one or two special skills.

So I'm working on formatting the documents that I downloaded into a PDF, instead of having a few disparate documents. Once I'm done with it I'll post a download link.

Hmmmm, I may be interested. Dotting for now.

DATABASE DATABASE ROLLPLAYING IN THE DATABASE WOAH WOAAAH

By which I mean color me interested.

Well seems to be some interest, I would have to add the new Class skills that are missing on those excell files and also the sub class skills, so will put a link and add those files to my googledocs if you want to see them.

Skill list (with additional skills)
Sub Class Skills They are considered "Common" skills.

If you'd like, I can add them to the PDF I'm working on as well.

That would be great! The interested have any ideas of a server they would like to play in? Start some time after the apocalypse or at the apocalypse?

Might as well begin at the beginning of the Apocalypse.

I am looking at the classes, but I'm leaning towards either Bard or Enchanter, with an eye towards battlefield control.

The Japanese server might be easier for GM, since it's the most described. Although some other server would give more freedom to build the world you want. I have no particular preference, but Scandinavian or Chinese might be nice.

For the classes I'm leaning towards Samurai or Guardian. Maaaybe someone from Healer group.

Well all clases have at least 3 or 4 "builds" for what I saw, except for the Guardian that has like 5 or 6.

-Double shield (translating this skill), sword and board, archer, spear, hafted, shield, two handed weapon.

I don't mind doing China, most variant classes are just a re-skin of the regular ones so not much changes but probably some skill names and equipment so it's doable, and woul be interesting to see all the farm bots wondering around not knowing what to do, then again their server has several million players and about 1/10 of that are bots.

Shameless bump!

I would like to hear input from those that have expressed interest in what they would like to see, or questions if any.

I'm still working my way through the rules, but the loot ticket system seems a bit clunky, imo. We might look at a different system for advancement instead (although what that might entail I'm not sure yet).

I do like the class balance and powers so far. Some of the charts did not import well, so I am doing my best to replace them.

As far as the server that we're going to be on, I would like to offer the suggestion of doing a european server instead of Japan or Chinese.

The log ticket system is weird, but it's really just options and is also a record of basically what quest, exploration, or raid you did.

There is 4 type of tickets

Character Rank up Ticket (level up):
HP +Class bonus
All Base Stats gain +1
Two "Combat" skills gain +1 CR (Gain 2 new Combat Skills)
One "General" skill gains +1 CR (Gain 1 new General skill)
-Recalculate if necessary do to change in base stats.
-Max Skills a character can have are 10 (Not counting Sub Class)
-Level cap I think is 20 or 21.
-Only 1 sub class skill can be active even if you have several, so it's not worth having more than 2 sub classes.

Fate Point Ticket
Gain +1 Fate Point

Treasure Ticket
Gain gold, equipment, items, or components.

Other Ticket:
Another Sub Class
New Connection
Join a Group (other than the PC guild).

Yes, some skills do not work like the manga/anime because its a tabletop rpg. Summoners specifically come to mind, with their summons just being an active effect not an actual creature that fights.

Another thing I am working on is dividing up the subclasses between those that have at least one skill and those that don't.

Mr Savage wrote:

10 skills? Have I missed something in the rules?

Well with a max CR 21 you won't have more than 10 skills since most skills require you to level them up at least to level 3.

So it's a soft skill cap, for Combat skills so if you want to take more Combat skills is fine also.

For example the "Leech" build for Guardian requires a Spear two handed or single handed.

Spoiler:

Damage:
Scarlet Thrust that has a Max level 5
Merciless Strike: Has a Max level 3

Onslaught has a Max level 5 - two handed spear
or
Cross Slash: has a Max level (SR) 5 - and this is the single hand spear.

HP drain boost for Scarlet Thrust:
Resilience Max level 1 to increase the recovery

Defense
Iron Bounce that has a Max level 5
Counter Break has a Max level 1

Hate control
Stand Out: Max level 3 "Combat" skill

Combat Skills
Weapon Mastery Max level 3 - boost a single damage type (spear)
Attack Mastery Max level 5 - boost Attack Power

Situational
Fish to Catch Max level 1
or
Heavy Armor Stance Max level 1

That's 13 levels of Combat skills, leaving you with 13 General Skills

General Skills:
Stamina Save SR 1
Forcible Recovery SR 1
Warcry SR 1
Payload SR 3 - Increase inventory

Out of 13 levels 5 are basic and warcry removes a debuff so it's good.
Add 7 more General skills as needed for the first 13 levels.

I'm checking in on how to make characters and such.

Guess it would help if i download the rulebook.

Is there any way a Samurai can get his hands on Twin Arm Style from Weaponmaster group? The class has defensive School: Kazamori Thunder style that adds the second blade's attack to Barrier (and later Evasion) but has no attack dual wield style. I find it strange, because in anime Soujiro clearly uses both attack and defense dual wield style.
Beside using the Fox Tail race's talent Substitute Tail and losing 10 HP.

The rules cover dual wielding. Basically you deal damage with the weapon that has highest damage of the two, but get both penalties or bonuses from both weapons.

Soujiro is a "Retribution" build and doesn't really dual wield iirc.

He uses it when fighting the guy who stole the armor during the Christmas arc.

Yeah, I now the rules cover it, but that's not really dual wield if you don't use both weapons. With Samurai's Kazamori Thunder you use the second blade for defence. With Twin Arm you combine both weapons attacks.

Although, if we will be playing on Europe then I don't see a Paladin wielding two weapons. So that's fine I guess. Just wanted to ask. I probably be a Guardian or a Cleric anyway.

I'm still in the decision process, but after looking at powers I'm now leaning towards Swashbuckler or Enchanter.

Well I'm still translating skills, and some of them have updates to skills that change them entirely like Cross Slash.

If you are going guardian this changes to skill since the last update I translated last night:

Cross Slash
Tags: [Combat] [Special Attack] [Blade]
Max SR: 5
Timing: Major
Check: Opposed (Accuracy vs. Evasion)
Target: Single
Cost: Hate 3
Range: Close
Limit: -

Give [Pursuit: (Attack Power + [SRx2])] to two targets.

Great Wall Style
Tags: [Combat] [Style]
Max SR: 2
Timing: Constant
Check: None
Target: Self
Cost: -
Range: Close
Limit: -

This skill only produces an effect when you have two [Shields] equipped to your [Hand Slots]. When you use [Block Missile] you add +1D instead of +2 to the result of the check.

(SR2): One of your equipped [Shield] gains [Physical Defense +3].

Front Lines
Tags: [Combat] [Movenment]
Max SR: 1
Timing: Move
Check: None
Target: Area (P)
Cost: -
Range: Close
Limit: 1/Scenario

Target may immediately [Normal Move] up to 1 sq.

(SR2): One of your equipped [Shield] gains [Physical Defense +3].

Hate of Counter Break got lowered to 2.

All classes got 2 or 3 new skills or tweaks to existing skill and in some cases complete revamps... which is sort of a drag lol, but nothing that can't be dealt with as things go along.

Madcaster, if you want to go Warrior, I'll make a healer (since I often do in MMOs IRL anyway). I don't mind doing so at all.

It's not that I don't want to play a healer. It's just that both tanks and healers are cool. I played both in couple of MMOs and that was awesome.

But I think I decided - Wolf Fang Guardian with tons of Strength and 2-handed Spear for leech.

Skills:
Combat:
Scarlet Thrust 5
Onslaught 5
Weapon Mastery 3
Attack Mastery 5

Resilience 1
Iron Bounce 5
Counter Break 1
Stand Out 3
Taunting Blow 3
Fish to Catch 1

General Skills:
Stamina Save 1
Forcible Recovery 1
Warcry 1
Payload 3
Bloody Tolerance 1
Wolf's Constitution [Training] 1
Physical Toughness 1
Training [STR] 1
Training [POW] 1
Fortune Star 1
Forge 2

Can't say if it's good. Mr Savage, does it looks fine to you?

They look good if you where about level 14.

So your main attack is also your sustain, since you are constantly regenerating health every turn. I would use Merciless instead of Onslaught just for fluffy stuff of applying bleed (Decay) damage.

Iron Bounce is your primary defense skill, and counter break helps. Stand out is to recover Hate Top and Fish-to Catch is nice.
Taunting Blow I don't know if I would take that skill, but it's not a bad choice either.

I would change Bloody Tolerance for the racial skill of Moonlight Glow, you are outright canceling damage from any type.

I hate Guardians they have so many build options lol.

So I have my character built:

Johton
Half-Alv Kannagi
CR 1

Str 2
Dex 5
Pow 7
Int 3

HP/Modifier 48/+5
Fate 1
Damage 0
Magic 5
Recovery 3
Physical Defense 9
Magical Defense 8
Speed 2

Attributes:
Athletics 2
Endurance 2
Disable 5
Operate 5
Perception 7
Negotiation 7
Knowledge 3
Analyze 3
Accuracy 9
Evasion 5
Resistance 7

Skills:
Combat: Guardian of Souls, Purification Barrier, Heal, Chiming Bell Barrier, Healing Mastery (Training), Prayer of Recovery

General: Mystical Path

Equippable Tags: Katana, Bow, Magic Stone, Light Armor, Accessory, Bag

Posessions:
Adventurer's Set, Backpack, Sandwich, Ash Ring (Magic 4), Sigil Guard (Magic Power +1), Padded Armor (+3 PDEF, +4 MDEF), Mantle (+1 PDEF, +1 MDEF), Feather Hat (+1 PDEF)

Personal Data:
Real Name: John Criton
Gender: Male
Level 74
Subclass: Exorcist
Guiding Creed: Protection

I'll have to try my hand at making an enchanter since that's the sort of weird esoteric build I like playing with.

I don't really like Merciless Strike because of low damage, even with Decay. Yeah, it's fluffy, but we're talking MMO.

Moonlight Glow - I don't know how I missed it. I'l add it to my General skill list.

Other than that, I've got the basics and will go with the flow, probably changing some as the game progresses.
