True, it didn't help win the support of the diehard Thor fans when the Odinson was moping around like a beaten dog in the background while Jane was running around letting Mjolnir lead the way. I'm also still trying to figure out what happened with the Kid Loki and Old Loki personalities. Loki was well on his way to becoming a whole new self, then they sort of poured him back into the old, evil Loki mold.

Do you have a source for Aaron saying this was a permanent change?

I've found some quotes saying it wasn't going to be a short-term, 5-6 issues, revert before the next movie thing, but I always understood it to be a story arc leading to the Odinson's return.

I think and hope that Loki is playing his own game as usual and that Malekith and his group will get into trouble, after he reveals it.

I like his stuff with both Thors. Sure i have some small problems. For example Kurse losing his power like that could not work. first he was always a big guy strong enough to fight Thor and it had nothing to do with his amour.

And i never thought that the change would be permanent. I read too many comics for that to happen. And if I learned one thing from that, is that sooner or later it is always back to the standard.

It was in one of the interviews he did for a website after the big announcement on The View.

I thought the Dark Gods weren't about worrying about being "worthy" or anything. They just existed. Desak didn't seem to care if Gods were worthy or not. He just killed them because they posed the biggest threat to his pantheon.

Gorr doesn't HAVE anything other than Gods must die.

Desak didn't just kill the Dark Gods, he killed any pantheon he came across. He even killed the Greek Gods in a vision shown to Thor. Desak wasn't a part of a pantheon. Desak was a regular guy on his planet that got screwed over by his gods. The Designate, a character they developed to be a Female Thor then discarded shortly afterward, gave him an amulet that gave him the power to turn gods' divine power against them. he went on a tour of the cosmos killing gods until Thor finally stopped him. While Gorr may have been genuinely insane and malicious in his intent to kill all gods, the motivation is the same.

Beard,

I dunno. I thought the motivations were different give that Desak didn't pull as much "I leave dead bodies everywhere" as Gorr did.

I'm not suggesting Desak isn't cooler, but the fact is Gorr had something Desak didn't, which was a fear factor. I didn't fear Desak. Gorr...disturbed me.

I guess I'm the only Jane Foster Thor guy on this thread...

Nope, you aren't. only that this thread is actually supposed to be dead with the end of Secret Empire and that I have no time to argue with people who don't like it, especially not if that topic could easily escalate into general politics which we know Paizo will not have here.

So just for the record:

1. The Jane Foster Thor storyline is one of the best Thor storylines ever.

2. I've immensely enjoyed Jason Aaron's writing for years now and the only thing I regret is that I didn't start reading his Thor story sooner.

3. Writing isn't about inventing new stories, but about taking stories already invented and giving them a new spin. That's how Marvel Thor came into existence, btw., so as far as Jason Aaron was inspired by elements of the old lore, he did exactly that, and that's as original as you can get nowadays.

4. For half a century, Marvel and DC pandered to a specific part of the general audience (young, white males). They finally found out that there are other people, too. 'twas about time.

5. Btw, everytime someone dies in the comics, they pretend as if this time death would be permanent, even if every reader knows that the hero in question will come back sooner or later. I don't like it, but obviously they fear that customers just will sit back and wait that story out, if they are honest about it. It's totally asinine, in my mind, but if Aaron said something in this direction I'd chalk it up to that mindset.

Near as I can tell, he talked about it not being a short-term change, prompted by speculation that they'd change her back before the next movie came out(2nd Avengers at that point I think.)

He may have said it would be permanent somewhere, but I haven't been able to find it.

Just because Wormy is right! This thread is our new thread. Old thread is dead!
