RotRL Recruitment for Existing Campaign

Recruitment

Looking for a replacement character for a cleric who had to drop due to RL issues catching up to him. Current party exists of an armored hulk barbarian, dervish dancer bard, regular bard, and a sorcerer, all at the tail end of level 1. A healer type would of course be preferred, but if you are spectacular enough we might accept something different. I will note that all things being equal, we will choose a healer type replacement.

That being said, here's a few other things:

1) I expect once a day posting, no exceptions for weekends. Things happen, and if they do, give me the courtesy of a heads up so we can make arrangements to DMPC your character until your return.
2) Respect your fellow players and me. You can disagree or make a point, but don't be a jerk about it, as the Paizo website implores you.
3) I try to accommodate all styles, so don't feel compelled to roleplay more or less than your fellows. This is all of your stories, after all, and I wish for all of you to be entertained!
4) I will roll initiative and post it for combat, then EVERYONE posts their actions. Combat is a fluid thing, and I treat it as such. Therefore, I will not tell you what the enemy is doing if he goes before you in combat. I will resolve a full round of combat after getting everyone's submissions. Don't worry, I will make sound tactical decisions in case your action gets preempted. You always have the option to state contingencies, such as 'I attack A, unless B moves up to me, in which case I attack B'.
5) I will roll initiatives to help speed up combat.

I look forward to your submissions, and we hope to make a choice relatively soon!

Here's a link to the Gameplay Tab, if you wish to check things out before deciding if you'd like to submit: Gameplay

Dark Archive

I've got an Aasimar Life Oracle (with aspirations of becoming an Oradin) who'd probably fit well into your game.

However, I have a question regarding him: He's an Aasimar with Dwarven parentage, so would it be okay to swap the Scion of Humanity trait for a Scion of Dwarvenkind equivalent? It's mostly a fluff thing, but it's really important to the character and his background.

-edit-

Also, I forgot to ask! What are the character creation rules?

The Exchange

I remember this game. I'm going to put together a cleric.

CTK, I remember your submission (slayer, wasn't it?). Different game, but same rules.

Seranov, I knew I was missing something, and apologize. Only core races allowed. I feel aasimars and tieflings are too OP compared to their more common brethren. If you want to submit that Oracle with a core race, we will certainly take a look at him!

Character Creation:

20 point buy
Average starting gold
No evil
Core races only
Open to all classes, but preference will be given to healer-type classes in this instance
Min-maxing is discouraged. Please make a viable character concept, but if you have 2 18's and the rest 7's, I'm likely going to veto you without another look. That's extreme, I know, but I hope the point is made.

Dark Archive

I'll pass, in that case. Good luck in your search. :)

The Exchange

Ah, different game. I looked over the thread and all, I think that I am going to go with remaking Mordecai (the character from before) as a cleric of Cayden Cailean (he was already a worshiper in the other sheet.

Going to have to do the crunch over though.

I'm thinking of Togog Treesplitter, Lawful Good Dwarven Cleric of Angradd (Good, War (tactics)). A monster-hunting holy warrior with a kind word and healing spell for the needy, and a brutal swing of his axe for the evil. Emphasis on battle, buffing and healing.

I offer Cretus for your consideration.

Only just put him together. Will need to flesh out a story for him tomorrow for you.

At this point he Fled Cheliax, as his unique relationship with life energies upset some of the more enthusiastic member of the Asmodian church. In Particular his ability to turn into a form of elemental light that seemingly healed people set some of the devilish folk I'll at ease.

He wound up in Sandpoint, in time for the Swallowtail Festival, and has decide this is a good place to settle for the moment. The presence of the Theatre and the fact that a festival was about to start appealed to his love of life and the energy of performance.

Cretus is a happy man, equally at home in the country side as he is in towns and villages. He takes pleasure in everyday things that others might take for granted. Occasionally though, a look of bewildered sadness will over come him and he can seem confused in these times.

The truth is, Cretus is haunted by a long dead bard. The spirit found him wandering alone in the woods near the local church of Asmodius when Cretus was only a lad. The bard had been working against the regime in Cheliax, and had been executed as a consequence. Given the youth of the boy, and the charismatic strength of the bard himself, it was easy for him to push into the soul space of Cretus. Indeed it was so easy, that the bard spirit itself took most of the control. Now, the majority of the time Cretus is run by the life and adventure loving spirit of the bard, a man dead more than fifty years.

I'll try to flesh that out some more soon.

I can do a post per day. However I'm in Australia, so my post times will differ from most players. Hoping that's not an issue.

Togog Treesplitter
Lawful Good Dwarven Cleric 1 of Angradd (Good, War (tactics))
Medium Humanoid (dwarf)

Spoiler:

Scion of a merchant family bringing lumber from the lowlands to high mountain fastnesses, as a young dwarf Togog’s family - his sister Tefra, mother Marna, and father Gimko, as well as many loyal servants, employees and retainers - was wiped out in a Giant attack on their caravan. Mad with grief, Togog was taken in by the clergy of Angradd, who focused and directed his rage into worship of the dwarven god of war. Though Gimko was always careful, Togog has a hard time not blaming his father for the annihilation of his family - and Togog judges and blames himself, both for not doing more and for thinking ill of his dead father.

His greatest influences were his teacher Baral, and his fellow acolyte, Rogi. Baral is the dwarf Togog respects most in the world, and will always turn to for advice, though the aging dwarf rarely leaves Angradd’s seminary. Rogi, by contrast, is a travelling cleric like Togog, though more cheerful and mischievous. Togog worries about Rogi often, especially that he doesn’t take the threat posed by giants seriously enough. Though the younger dwarf shares Togog’s hatred, if not his fervour, Rogi’s more focused on the lesser, but more common, dangers posed by goblins to dwarven and human homesteads.

Now he travels, bringing good healing and the protection of law to the innocent and deserving - though he believes in helping those who help themselves, and will always encourage the weak to find their own strength. For giants and evildoers, his swing of Angradd’s mighty axe is the last thing they’ll ever see.

The task of paying respect to Sandpoint’s newly-constructed cathedral is far from a popular one among the dwarven clerics, and they were happy for him to take up the obligation. Though Togog himself takes fulfilling his task seriously, he’s also motivated by rumours of giants mobilising in the wilds of Varisa, seeking both to wreak further vengeance, and to protect others from the fate that befell his family.

Withdrawing, going to run my own game instead. Good luck to you all.

Decided to go another route, I went ahead and built a Life Oracle with her focus on healing. This is CTK, by the way, Read up on Oracles and I am seeing that they're not a bad class, people seem to always take the goofy haunted curse and act weird about it, but there's a chance for some good RPing in the flavor here.

I have a partial sheet here, finishing some stuff up as I converted another character sheet into this one:

Here

Will add weapons and back story in a few hours when I wake up.

Internet was down most of the morning and still is. But here is my character write up:

Divina is, conceptually, a young woman who walks the line between life and death and good and evil. She doesn’t know her true purpose, but she receives visions from time to time and a vision is what leads her to Sand Point (of what is up to the DM's discretion depending on how she would be introduced). She’s strongly focused on healing others with a slight focus on ranged combat, knowledge of religions and languages.

Legend has it that Divina’s family is intermingled with both fiendish and celestial bloodlines, though she isn’t a direct descendant of any kind of outsider her healing magic and curse is closely tied into that.

Character picture here.

And weapons and the rest of the armor and stats are filled in on my sheet.

We have 3 females and 2 dwarves currently in the party. Just fyi.

I'm fine being a dwarf among dwarves. Togog would probably be more comfortable that way anyhow.

A mostly female party doesn't really affect anything for me, but given that a lot of people can't tell if I'm male or female from my writing I don't think it will be a matter of me playing a woman annoyingly.

Also she, as a person, would probably be right at home with anyone that's not a group of evil characters. Check out my other two games to see how I operate my characters, though (hint: the games died quickly due to gm vanishing).

Are you looking for the characters to come in with traits as well, Crispy? If so, is it early enough along for a campaign trait to still be suitable?

Yes, please use a campaign trait. We are still early enough along for that.

not applying as I am in enough runelord games/varients of said Ap

just wanted to say hello to an old friend:

Hey there Zella, Noro is still around theboards and has even inspired some. glad to see you still enjoying the game.

I'd like to submit Andrin Valdemar for consideration. A grandson of one of Sandpoint's founders, he's extremely invested in the town and its peoples' wellbeing. He's stiff, proper, and extremely polite to a near fault as he struggles to come to grips with what happened to him last year and the strange abilities he's had since.

I'd originally made Andrin some years ago as an Oracle with the Life Mystery, but I've reskinned him now as a Shaman in the hopes of giving the new class a spin. If you're interested in seeing how he interacts with folk, his posts from the previous campaigns are how I still plan to play him.

Thanks for considering him! =)

Forgot to add my shield on the sheet before and fix my money. So just those minor changes were made.

Keseth is a Divine Hunter Paladin of Erastil just home to Sandpoint after being trained in Magnimar. He has no healing at level 1, but he'll have a bit after he picks up Lay on Hands. I don't usually play divine characters so when I saw this on Sunday I took a pass, but I came back to it and read some of the way you guys post and thought I'd take a crack at it.

You're going to probably want to flesh out the rest of your sheet. At the top of the site if you go to where it says "Account" and then re-type your password there will be a page with a bunch of little framed off sections. Go under the one that says "Messageboard Aliases" (it should be on the left hand side) and you can create a new Alias as long as the name hasn't been taking by someone else. When you create it you can make a profile for just that character.

And when someone clicks on it they can see all the stats and things you enter into there.

Been trying to get in a RotRL game for ages, so I had intended to submit a Archer Cleric of Erastil, but then I noticed the almighty Oterisk had submitted a similar concept :D

If the recruitment is still going I may conjure something different.

Thank you all for your submissions! The party has decided to go with Togog, the dwarven cleric. Togog, I will PM you a link to our Discussion thread shortly.

Thank you very much! Commiserations to those who missed out... wishing you better luck in future!
