Hello everyone. I'm currently running The Emerald Spire Superdungeon on a roll20.net campaign and I realize that there is some stuff that it is said but not show. As an artist this is important to me so I decided to create some of the stuff that is not in the book to use as visual aids and handout to the players.

Don't read if you just find the note:

Starting with the piece of parchment that you find in area A12. Skizzert's Chamber. This paper show an Azlanti rune that represents the number six that is key to teletransport to level 6 of the dungeon. I hope you like it.

Paper with Rune

I'll be posting whatever else I make as I read the adventure. Thanks

This is the Azlanti rune for level 1 on the Emerald Spire below A14

Rune on A14.

Very cool! I'll definitely keep an eye on this. :)

Oh! Thank you. If you see something that you think is missing let me know. I got some ideas to expand on the artwork but it will be cool to have more.

Very nice artwork.
I'm definitely going to steal those and use them when I run the dungeon. :-)

More Azlanti Artwork. This is the piece of paper you find on area B8 on level 2. This is the Azlanti Rune for the number "four". Later this week I'll be doing the keys you also find in level 2, so check this post at the end of the week.

Wonderful, thank you! I might be running this soon.

This is sweet! I'll be running ES soon on roll20, and I've been looking for something just like these pieces. Thank you!

Just wanted to post and say that I used your art in my Emerald Spire campaign tonight and it's been a big success. Really hope you keep making these. :)

Thanks to everyone for the support! I will be doing them as my group progress in the Dungeon. But if you need something specifically done from any level let me know and I will gladly draw it.

Awesome thread man. I do have one request, but I'll PM you.

Thank you very much. I'm glad your group like my artwork. I will keep doing it and maybe expand on another modules or adventure path.

I will do them as my gaming group gets through the dungeon, but they are going slow. If you see something that you think needs an illustration please let me know.

Again Thanks.

My players just hit lvl 4, Godhome, and the Godbox really gave them fits. I had a design in mind for the doors, which the players just didn't get.

The "puzzle" component (6 doors, 6 slots) was completely lost on my players until I spelled it out. I think a good thing would be to sketch the Godbox, see if you can come up with a rendering that give players a clear idea of whats going on.

Thanks! :D

I'll work on it. My players are in the middle of level 3. Tell me more about your design idea.

Just doing a spoiler cuz this may get lengthy

Box Puzzle:

So, image a door with 2 poles, in the left and right side respectively. There is a handle on the left and right, which allows access to the center of these poles.

Twisting left retracts the poles, and right extends them.

Currently, all the doors have 1 pole extended, jamming into the stone above and below the door, and that's the doors the trogs use.

There would be some problems with this set-up in real life, but enchanted materials are great :D

The Godbox sits on a 3 foot pedistool, where the 6 doors can be slid in horizontally. In ancient Azlanti, there are instructions on each of the 6 slides.

The reason for the poles is something to hold onto. if you think about a flush surface and a door, you need something to grab.

This lead to an optional puzzle in my game. You really only need one pole, so I've decided each side has a function and effect. I also decided a rejection happens if both poles are retracted - the door wont go in more than half - way (stopped by a magnetic type force).

For mine, there is a diagram at the top, showing two symbols like:
I _

This is normal, controlled operation.

I decided the topmost controls water, two poles out means shut down. Left pole out means normal water flow, right pole out flushes the lavatory areas.

2nd is food, again, two pols is shut down. Left pole is normal food, right pole is meat for Azlantis (so, not rotted)

3rd-5th are the three Constructs and lighting. Both poles out shuts down a construct, and the lights noticeably dim some. Left pole is what it's doing now - guarding the Box and normal lighting in an area. Right is maintenance mode, they will go around assisting in repairs, and the lights are in bright mode.

6th is the key power, and has a series of writing on it:
I I both poles out, shut down all power. The instructions state each door must be inserted with both poles out for this to work.
I _ Left pole out: resupply food, produce up to 5x the normal quantity
_ I right pole out water: Resupply water, again, produce 5x the normal quantity
_ _ Emergency Defense & summoning: This has the most instructions above it. The instructions state all left poles must be out. The automations begin an active patrol, attacking any non-reptile or non-Azlanti. (If the PCs had a certain badge, they would not be attacked either. No such badges exist anymore.) The summoning portal Goes to its maximum rate, 1 summon every 10 minutes, but the potential targets are broadened. This may result in a hostile dragon, a sea-monster that is struggling for air, or many other things. If any door is removed in this mode, the 6th door pops out like a flopy disk. Also, again in the faded instructions, if this state is maintained for more than 6 hours the box will burn itself out.

By request of John The Cab. The doors from level 4, I took some of your ideas and give them a little twist. I hope you like it.

Level 4 Doors.

I also play the Puzzle thing you suggested it was a lot of fun. I'll be posting the runes for levels by the end of this week.

Again thanks for the support! Let me know if you use the artwork and if is helpful in anyway.

I was a little bit worried with how my players would handle the puzzle, the door art should definitely help point them in the right direction - thanks for posting it. :)

A sketch of the Godbox itself would be awesome!

Looking ahead, I wonder if it might be a good idea to do a sketch of the rotating turntables on level 6? A visual aide might help the players better grasp the idea.

I Took the puzzle idea but in a simpler way and it work.

I'm about to start reading Level 6, let me see what I can do with the Turntables. Thanks

Just curious, what did you simplify? Cuz my players didn't get the one I presented even close to solved :D

The way I played was that any doors in slot with both poles retracted deactivates an aspect of the Dungeon, and as they get closer and closer to deactivating the Godbox the Troglodytes star to get more angry. For my the focus of this level was less on the puzzle and more on the fact that the tension is building to the point were is it inevitable to fight all 16 troglodytes.

Nice. Yea, my group had that climatic fight too.

They ended up blinding most of the trogs after combat started, then intimidating them to run.

As for requests, another good one:
The emerald automiton shark on level 5. My group will be fighting it next week.

Ideally, I'd live it to have a golden colored clog like Clanky does. That seems to be Klarkosh's big thing.

Here's a cool inspiration picture, I'll probably use it if you don't have time to do up something awesome :D

And great work Celurian. Really top - notch stuff here :D

Hopefully people haven't lost interest in this post. I know I have been a little slow......ok a lot slow with drawing and posting new artwork for this post. But I haven't forget. Here is theShark-Tail Automaton for level 5.

If you have any suggestions for more illustrations let me know.

Thanks

Nice!

I'm enjoying these! I love having visual aides for my players, but I have the artistic ability of an aardvark. I'm planning to run some players through this module at some point, but have no definite plans yet.

I'll use whatever you get drawn, though! :)

We've just started the module this week, so thanks for the images. They're excellent!

After a month of Hiatus. My group is currently going through level 7, I was thinking of drawing the Fiendish Troglodytes, but I want to see what do you suggest.

Just noticed these. Will be starting to run this for the boys next week. Dotted for imminent zoinking. Thank you, Celurian, for sharing your talent! :D

I love your drawings so far! I am planning to run a group trough the Spire after I finish Plunder and Peril :)

Here is the Holy Symbol for Kro'Akoth from level 7. I'm thinking of doing a revision on this illustrations. Overall I feel that the concept doesn't work or is to generic. If you can give a little feedback it would be highly appreciated.

Kro'Akoth Unholy Symbol.

Thanks!

If you need extra artwork for "plunder and Peril" I would be happy to do so. I'm thinking of starting another thread with extra artwork for some other Pathfinder product but I don't know which one would be good to do.

While I immensely appreciate your offer, I would say, make artwork for the things you want to run yourself. That way we can all benefit from your creativity and skill, while you dont have to feel obliged to run requests or devide up your valuable time.

Well the campaign I'm running is going really slow (in a good way) we are having fun with the setting and the characters.

I can draw something extra here and there.

By the way Check out the New Wayfinder #12 I have a couple of illustrations there.

Cheers!

As its a tempting offer, I will think about it. :)

celurian, I just stumbled upon this (when I searched for 'Shark Emerald Automaton' on google - it was a long shot...).

You, sir, are awesome. I absolutely love that shark drawing!

Shadow Lodge

Amazing work!

Love the artwork, my players are just about to meet the big bad on level 3, I'm going to implement your artwork into the game.

Just want to make sure that you know your efforts are still appreciated. I am using your runes.

I have just started to read Emerald Spire book and going to run it for my players and these pictures you have made are perfect.

Thank you very much =)

Thank you everyone for the support.

I will continue to post extra artwork for the emerald spire, but the group has decide to change to another campaign for a while (we have lost a bunch of players so we are recruiting some new ones)

We will be playing Reign of Winter, so I will be doing another thread to post additional artwork for that adventure path.

Great resource for EM GMs!

Thanks!!!

I'm getting ready to run this for a new group and look forward to using the pictures as they move through the Spire. Thank you for posting them.
