Let the fighting err negotiations begin!
Thanks for the update Lee! :)
I would like some clarification on how these results were arrived at, because from the understanding I had of the process, Freevale should not be where it is currently placed.
Congratulations, everyone!
Hang on, there was an error on my sheet, We'll get a corrected list up shortly.
so does this go on for 10 weeks?
While you are at it Lee I don't think the three pre-existing settlements are represented on the map with icons.
No surprise about Golgotha taking W (assuming that stays). I always thought it was the best 'general purpose' location on the map.
Seems we got the result we wanted and I need to reach out to neighbours.
H2Osw wrote: so does this go on for 10 weeks? Yes. 9 more weeks.....
Congrats to all who placed on the settlement board this week!
Looks like the map has been updated. Thanks for the speed fix Lee!

Lee, would it be a) worth your time, and b) not confusing, for you to add Callambea, Brighthaven, and Phaeros to the map as well?
Congratulations, everyone!

That moment where you get excited about getting one of your favorite locations... Then you find out you are one of those guilds that got bumped because of the minor error... And though your next choice is also one of your top picks... It just doesn't have the same luster because you had already in a matter of minutes grown attached to the idea of the former. :p
Lee,
If you can include the three settlements posted above, that would be very useful for future forums discussions (I for one don't know where those settlements are located without referencing yet another webpage or map). Thanks.

Yea that's my fault. I haven't had the time to modify the script to include them yet. I'll try to take care of it today and post the updated overlay when I finish it.
Thank you for putting it on your list of things to get to. There isn't an extreme rush but it would be really helpful for the new folks coming in!
Thanks as always, Taylor.
Yes, Freevale is in spot I now, right next to Thornkeep!
I hope everyone realizes that Freevale will be vacuuming up all the newbies that wander out of Thornkeep?

The icons are hard to distinguish. Instead of these icons I woud suggest giving each group two colors, one for the center and one for the territory. This way you can keep the letters on the hexes.

I figure by noon on the West Coast someone'll've started a pool on how many groups change site next week.

Icons for the Big 3 are up. No color was assigned to them so no hexes for you

Congratulations to everyone!
Thanks Lee & Taylor. The map looks great and really helps to visualize the inter-relations between the various groups.

I've got a fairly interesting settlement, well away from political turmoils and near a major town. If you want to prosper and build a better world join Les Compagnons [AD] (Currently French speaking but we will build a multilingual society)

Taylor,
Could you please add names to a tool tip like feature on the map? Essentially just hovering over the icon while the name of the Guild/Settlement is displayed.
Yes, we need some way still to see the site-letters. We'll never be able to describe--to anyone, but especially newcomers--the symbol-and-colour combos adequately.
T7V Jazzlvraz wrote: Yes, we need some way still to see the site-letters. We'll never be able to describe--to anyone, but especially newcomers--the symbol-and-colour combos adequately. Click the 'Control Overlay' button... it swaps between letters and symbols / area of control.
I want to congratulate all of the settlements that got their first choice. Now the test to "Have What We Hold" begins....
There is also a second opportunity to be had here, and a very positive one. We all will likely look to out immediate North, East, West and South. "You all see that neighbor of your's?" Do you want your enemies that close? Probably not, I would think.
Third opportunity, goes to those settlements that did not make the cut this week. It might be a good idea to make contact with the settlement that got that location, and have a friendly chat.
On a personal / settlement note: Any company that picked "X" for their first choice, I would like to here from you. We probably saw the same advantages of this location, so perhaps we have other goals in common as well.
Drop a post in Settlement: Aragon (CN) or PM: The Goodfellow, Xeen, Talon Fox or Myself (Bluddwolf).
Added Current Settlement Hex, including Row and Column on the map to the Community Editable Spreadsheet. Note if you're used to sorting and resorting, you'll need to remember to pick a new hex as your sort column.
If you can see the script menu in Google docs, that is updated. I have added sorts by Row, Column, and Row and Column, to help you find your closest neighbours.

CBDunkerson wrote: Click the 'Control Overlay' button... it swaps between letters and symbols / area of control. Aha! Thanks; I'd not noticed it being a button.
A few days ago I picked X as my personal favorite, but possibly not for the same reasons as you guys did. :) Very happy with "I" though, my opinion on locations has been going back and forth anyway.
To be really honest, I could probably make a case for *every* location as far as I am concerned.
Merged the images they use on the landrush site, here's a (not-very-good) something to look at until Harad finishes his unofficial pfo map revision.

Glad to see mystical awakening got a top pick for us... looking good so far!
Darcnes wrote: Merged the images they use on the landrush site, here's a (not-very-good) something to look at until Harad finishes his unofficial pfo map revision. Would be interesting to have a separate mockup where the colors around the Settlement indicate Alignment. I know not all Settlers have indicated their Alignment, but curious to see if there is some pattern.

I like that you reduced the hexes separated by elevation. This shows better that some have reduced close resources. Yet some (e.g. W) don't have much competition for hexes 4 and 5 steps away.

Harad, you are the man, what can I say.
So, first week turned out great, the store is up and running - is this the time when Goblinworks feels ready to bring this baby to the masses?
Will there be articles on the gaming news sites now? Or is the lid being kept on for a while longer?
Congrats to all, happy to see some neighbors!

@ Lee, Taylor, Any Other Super Goblin,
Any chance to get some info on the bonus for sticking with the spot you won in the first round? You don't REALLY want to shuffle icons every week, do you? ;)
