small character, low level damage options?

Advice

Silver Crusade

I am searching for ways for a halfling weapon finesse character to generate some kind of combat damage over the first 4 levels, until an agile amulet of mighty fists can be bought. From that point on damage will be acceptable and will keep improving, but I am at a loss as to what weapons and equipment to use until then. The planned build is Paladin/Monk (master of many styles, snake and crane) plus Brawler archetype fighter and then Champion of Irori. This will produce a very hard to hit tank that can put out good damage via smite and unarmed strikes, but for the first few levels I want to find a way to contribute. Traits are open, but feats are pretty much spoken for at low levels (weapon finesse, combat reflexes, IUS, stunning fist, snake style, snake fang).
Attributes: STR 8 DEX 17 CON 13 INT 10 WIS 14 CHA 16 (need skill points in PFS so reluctant to dump INT).

Ideas?

Crossbow, gets Dex to hit and no STR penalty on damage. Also at low levels (if you have the money to spare) pellet grenades & tanglefoot bags can be nasty.

Nets are nice as well. Second the cross bow idea. Carry more then one loaded heavy cross bow so you can draw and shoot every round.

nets are cheaper than tanglefoot bags and great

Smoke and pellet grenades are useful

Carrying loaded crossbows may work by the rules. Having shot crossbows, I would not advocate it IRL.

Alchemical items of all sorts are especially useful at low levels.

Potions of bulls strength and the various oils to add to your weapons.

Unfortunately, all of those obviously cost money so use them sparingly until the major fights.

Flank and aid for the big brute barbarian to make sure he hits.

I would advocate using a bardiche and acid flasks until level 4. You already took Combat Reflexes so put it to work. Sure 1d8-1 isn't great damage and you have a lousy to hit with non-finesse weapons, but you weren't using a shield anyway and a cold iron bardiche costs 26 gp. You already took IUS so you can threaten adjacent at the same time, you just fish for AoOs with the bardiche and attack normally with IUS. You have a 17 dex and are small so throwing at touch AC shouldn't be a problem even without any feat support and 10 gp per flask is acceptable.

Scarab Sages

+1 to Nets. They target touch AC, are dex based, and are cheap.

Acid vials are the cheapest alchemical item, and can damage most things. always keep some handy.

Assuming you have Weapon Finesse, make use of Trip and or Disarm maneuvers. Even without improved the versions, they can contribute more than damage. And if you provoke an AoO, it's one that isn't going to an ally, and you are small and have a good AC.

Thanks for the tips! Net looks very useful. Any way to snag proficiency without needing to blow a feat?

Not really. Although I think there might have been a trait that gives it.

You just assume high dex attacker going against low dex target's touch AC at low levels. Probably got pretty decent chance to hit anyway. Especially if you can throw from within invisibility/vanish, stealth, surprise, etc... against flat footed touch AC.

Scarab Sages

Half-elf and Elf both have alternate racial traits that will give net proficiency.
Edit: Of course, that doesn't help when you are a halfling.

Shadow Lodge

Buy a warhorse.

You could be a small sized (Halfling descendant) aasimar and not get a strength penalty.
