I couldn't se it here, what happens if our character plays online, are we not allowed to play that character in other offline games?

Shadow Lodge 4/5

That is correct, at least not while that character is actively in a game, online or not.

Lantern Lodge 1/5

Also, if I remember reading the new PFS guide to organized play correctly, where it talks about tiers and subtiers, I thought that level 1 characters are only legally allowed to sign up in either tier 1 or 1-5 scenarios according to the new rules.

Can someone verify that please? I believe it is on page 31 of the new guide.

Grand Lodge 5/5

A PC can only play a scenario or module in which they fall within the Tier range. For first level PCs, there are Tier 1-5 & 1-7 and a single Tier 1 scenarios. There are also Tier 1-2 Modules and APs.

Grand Lodge 1/5

You may also play a pre-generated character and apply the chronicle to your character when he hits the appropriate level, right?

2/5

Quote from the newest Guide:

"If the player is playing a non-1st-level pregenerated character, he may choose instead to apply this Chronicle sheet to a 1st-level character by reducing this value to 500 gp."

So it seems you can apply at the appropriate level or apply to a 1st level character.

Grand Lodge 1/5

Question for the GMs here who normally do PbP.

What program do you use to edit the PDF of the chronicle sheet? I was thinking use a print to PDF program on the chronicle sheet but I am at a loss on what/how to edit it.

Grand Lodge 1/5

Hi Joseph

I notice my Dawn of the Scarlet Son is up but not my Infernal Vault.

Is this a lock now? If possible maybe I could have that added or even changed to Dalsine Affair?

Helaman,

I personally edit it using Nitro PDF, although pretty much any PDF editor works (Foxit, Adobe Acrobat, etc). You can also open the PDF in Photoshop or other Graphics editor of your choice and do it there.

I know a number of GMs print out the Chronicles, sign them by hand, and then scan them, if you're unable to do that.

Signed up to play!

I've never tried PbP for PFS before so this should be fun.

Grand Lodge 1/5

Usually I will use the comment tool to fill the chronicles, but have to print to PDF using Nitro in order to use the signature tool.

A separate question entirely, Joseph, when we have a discussion/gameplay thread up, how do we let our players know? Will we be able to contact our players? I have two that have contacted me so far, and know a third, but the other two, I have no idea how to contact them...

Dark Archive

Do the games officially start October 1? If the DM has his 6 can he go ahead and start? Not sure how the DM is supposed to initiate play.

Grand Lodge 1/5

I think it starts officially on October 5th.

The Exchange 4/5

How will I get contact information of my players?

I will be e-mailing the individual tables the contact information for their group. But this will not happen until the start of the gameday to help us account for any drops that happen between now and then.

Grand Lodge 1/5

Ok, thanks Joseph! Very nice!

1/5 Venture-Captain, Germany–Hannover

Allright in here too with Glass River Rescue. Just filled the application form.

Could probably do another scenario or Crypt of the Everflame as a module or Skull & Shackles Part 1 if wished or requested.

I am exclusively a PbP'er, so I am stoked about getting official support.

Can't wait for the games to kick off!

4/5

Hmm... what time zone are these in?
All the first time slots are at 1am for me! then 3am, 5am, etc. (give or take)

Not entirely West Coast North America friendly... if those are times converted to PST.

*

The time slots are actually referring to the scenario tiers (see upthread). Since this is PbP it will take place over many hours (if not weeks) 1 am to 5 am is actually a tier 1-5.

4/5

I saw the post upthread, but did not make that correlation.

Everything makes much more sense now =)

Grand Lodge 5/5

If by some point, say the end of this week, if no one has signed up for a scenario being offered by a GM, can that GM change it up and offer another scenario. Is that too difficult too edit?

I was wondering the same thing. I notice that almost all of the 1-5 games are filling up quickly, while the same cannot be said for the higher tier games. (Pretty typical for the PbP scene here, to be fair.) It might be beneficial to shift some of the higher tier games to lower tier games.

1/5

Don't know if this was answered, but can I post and add for my game here on the Paizo On-line forums?

4/5 5/55/55/55/5

I'm presently running two full tables of PFS players in parallel games and our next sessions are due to start 6 Oct, and there has been an expression of interest as to whether we could co-ordinate ourselves in with this event.

Although...

I note that GM sign-ups are closed so that current sessions can be filled but as we have two full tables already and don't require recruitment - can we be accommodated still?

If we were able to, how do I keep my groups together in a system that has open recruitment? I wouldn't like to open recruiting and find half of them miss out when more people sign up ahead of them...

You can post, but they need to sign up on Warhorn.

Grand Lodge 2/5

don't think i'm a member of the warhon bu would love to gm something...

Grand Lodge 1/5

I think that We have more tables than players right now. Why don't you sign up to play? :) Registering on Warhorn is easy and free!

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I've asked a few podcast to pimp the event, as well as posted links on the PFS online Google Group. Oddly I have one game full and one that only has a single player. I have opened up individual game threads (recruitment only) for my games, and also asked my friends on here to pimp it. Aside from my individual game threads, all of the rest has been focused on the event as a whole, so it may help to open personal recruitment threads for your games.

I've also noticed that there area few games that the DM's are not claiming yet. If you are one of those, that may be the reason players are not joining, thinking the GM has not shown. If you play in local games at a B&M, spread the word. We all know that there are far more players than DMs, and if we build it they will have no choice but to shamble to us and come. If we can really rock this one, that means more goodness will follow.

Grand Lodge 1/5

Agreed. ^_^

Shadow Lodge 4/5

I should also point out that I have asked, but that doesn't mean they will. :)

I had exactly one player in my game, then opened a recruitment thread - now I've got 4. It really helps! :)

Grand Lodge 1/5

Nice! I have 5 for one, and none for the other, but they are both 5-9, so I don't expect a lot. It also seems that Golden Serpent is not a popular scenario. I just like it because it guest stars one of the Foxgloves! ;)

2/5

I suspect many of the dedicated PBPers don't get the chance very often to play in live PFS games (I'm averaging about one a year), and since a PBP game can take a month or two I'm guessing that not a whole lot have the chronicles under their belt to have access to higher level characters.

4/5 5/55/55/55/5

This is certainly an issue DM Rah.

The only way I'd have characters up in the mid levels is through a mix of play formats.

Yep, the only character of mine that's at a slightly higher level (4) is mostly made up of face to face games. And she started playing in a module literally days before this announcement. :P All the others are 1-2...

Joseph, I notice almost all of the 1-5 tables are filled! You sure you don't want some extra tables set up?

This is true for me as well. I've got a few characters ranging from a level five, down to a level one, all of which have only been played online. I've been playing the level five for at least two years here, to get to her current level.

Hopefully there are others like me, so if any of my characters make it to higher level, there might be a game or two here to play her in.

The Exchange 4/5

How do I keep a table together that has been recruited outside of Warhorn?

If you have a table already, we can accommodate you. You would need to send me an e-mail (listed in the first posting of this thread) with:

- Your Name
- Your Paizo.com E-mail address
- Your PFS #
- Your Warhorn Username
- Location where your PbP is taking place
- Warhorn Usernames for every player at your table

We need this information if you and your table wants to be included in getting product support, boons, and PDF prizes. This allows us to get a better idea about how big the community is and will allow us to plan for the future (which we have some exciting things being discussed right now).

*Note: All of your players must be registered for the PbP Warhorn before I can make the table.

Who will do the reporting for the gameday?

The Online VO team will handle the reporting of this gameday to Paizo.com. After the gameday gets started, we will make a post about how and where to get us that reporting information.

Since my table of Blakros Matrimony has yet to have any players, I'm willing to switch to a 1-5 if necessary. Let me know if I need to.

I'd be willing to play at a 2nd higher level table if you need players to fill them out. I have plenty of characters so I can tie 2 of them up.

1/5

Joseph,
It seems I am a little late to the party on this. I would love to run a table or two if I am still able to do so. I did the GM signup and then saw the post saying it was closed. The players from my 8 PBP sessions to date can attest to my ability to GM. Please let me know if I am able to GM or not.
Thanks!

Grand Lodge 1/5

Question: At a PINCH there can be 7 players in a session.

I note several sessions with 7 of 6 players. Will the game be run at 7 if the game day rolls around with no reduction in players?

Also, confirming, a max of 2 playing sessions, correct?

I want to sign up but, do we just click on the play button or is there a specific thread we can refer to for the recruitment of the games? (not sure how this actually works)

The Exchange 4/5

Will we be allowed to run 7 player tables?

No, 7 player tables will not be allowed. Those tables with 7 players just have folks signing up to be alternates.

Is there a limit to how many tables you can play at?

The only limit for the number of tables you can play at is the number of characters you have created. There is a limit on the number of tables you can GM (2).

Sczarni 4/5

exciting times!

Grand Lodge 1/5

Thanks Joe! I have now replaced Golden Serpent, and am instead running the Bloodcove Disguise (Tier 1-7), so it should give more opportunity for low level play!

^_^

Shadow Lodge 4/5

Dang it, another game I can't play in . . .

:)

Grand Lodge 5/5

Aeshuura, I too dropped my Golden Serpent. Now I'm running Murder on the Silken Caravan. Thanks as well, Joe.

Silver Crusade 2/5

Joseph Caubo, how are we to show proof of games we played with characters higher then 1?
