Spider Mounts / Companions...PFS Legal?

Advice

Is it possible to get a spider as a mount or animal companion.

Are any of these ways legal in PFS?

I looked in the Bestiary's "Animal Companion" section and none were listed but I don't think that covers all possibilities.

Any suggestions for a class/race/feat combo to get a spider companion or mount (for a small character)?

Vermin Companions

Source: Ultimate Magic

Vermin companions follow the same rules as animal companions, advancing their Hit Dice and other abilities per Table: Animal Companion Base Statistics. Vermin companions can be trained as if they were animals using the Handle Animal skill.

Mindless: Vermin companions have no Intelligence score and possess the mindless trait. In spite of this, vermin companions may learn one trick, plus additional bonus tricks as noted on Table: Animal Companion Base Statistics. If a vermin animal companion gains an ability score increase (at 4 Hit Dice, 8 Hit Dice, and so on), the druid can apply this increase to the companion's Intelligence, changing it from — to 1, at which point the companion loses the mindless quality and is able to know up to 3 tricks per point of Intelligence, plus the additional bonus tricks, as per Handle Animal. Vermin companions have no skill points or feats as long as they have the mindless quality.

Trip: Because many vermin have multiple limbs, they are very difficult to trip. As a result, a CMD entry has been included for each, indicating the bonus to CMD such vermin receive against trip attacks.

this is for druids

Yea a small druid character can potentially ride their spider at 4th level when it becomes medium

Hmmmm, I hadn't seen vermin companions!

Scorpions and Wasps also look good for small druids.

Unfortunately I was hoping to make more of a mounted archer than a druid.

well you can still take the archer feats and use your magic to make you better, and you can always take druid until 4th and then go archer, I would say that rangers can take the vermin too, but it will take you longer to ride it.

Yes, longer....5th level he means...then you take boon companion.

beastmaster ranger?

Sovereign Court

Well an archer for the most part is just the right equipment coupled with a decent strength and good dexterity scores. The amount of feats you need is pretty small over all compared to other things and divine spell casters actually have good synergies for it with the amount of battlefield control they potentially could have.

The only real issue likely is the whole proficiency thing coupled with wanting to be small to ride a spider. Halfling Warslinger could be interesting on spider-back.

Is there a special saddle I would need to get to keep from falling out off my mount if he was climbing upside down?

I have the boon to play a Nagaji and a Nagaji on a Giant Chameleon also seems like fun, maybe with a reach weapon to back up his archery.

Still spitballing this idea.

Thanks for the feedback and input! Very helpful!

Sovereign Court

Probably an exotic military saddle and some rope. Kind of an odd strapping system.
