Need a PF spellbook generator (not a card generator, just a list)

Advice

I need a spellbook generator that's at least mildly up-to-date with the newer books that will allow me to print out simple lists by spell level, rather than the spell card generators that I am finding everywhere. I remember there used to be some great ones for DnD, but cannot find a single one for PF.

Please, please, please dont' send me to one of those card generators. Thanks for the help everyone.

So a database that has all of the spells, and then generates random spellbooks from it?

d20pfsrd.com

Exactly John. Yes, thanks.

I found the 'card generator' approach curious as well. Is this just a leftover from earlier versions?

I need something as simple as this http://www.imasy.or.jp/~miyamoto/rpg/javascript/spellbook.html

It is not free but Hero Lab will do that for you. It is the best player and DM tool that I have along with my PFRPG RD app for my tablet. Those two things are all I need to play any game of Pathfinder.

Thanks much. I'll look into it today.

This is a fairly up-to-date listing, with custom parameters:

SpellsDB

What I'm looking for is a utility that can generate a spellbook for any PC or NPC of any particular level.

This might not be exactly what you asked for, but here's what I used when making spellbooks in my Runelords game: Listing of all spells
It's just a doc with a list of all the spells from non-AP Paizo sources, from d20pfsrd.com. If it's not a "standard" source (CRB, APG, UM, UC, ARG), I include a book designation in superscript following the spell name, using d20pfsrd's abbreviations. It's not an automatic random generator, but I think that tailoring spellbooks is best, anyway, since there are gonna be some staple spells, and a spellbook speaks to the personality of the bearer. It takes a bit of time, and players might not truly appreciate the level of effort you spend (hey, you never know), but I'm fond of spellbook craftsmanship. Here, you gotta delete the spells you don't want, so it's not hard work, just a little tedious.

(Edit: I'd make a copy of it just in case something happens to it.)

However, I have vague future plans to make a spellbook selector, which makes defining a spellbook easier (something along the lines of check the boxes of spells that you like, then hit generate for a nice listing, or something). Mostly as a fun side-project. But, I haven't had a lot of spare development time lately, so it might be a few months before I get to it. :P If and when I get around to it, it'll be found near my Item Generator for Settlements (maybe not on that exact page, but there will at least be a link there). The item generator takes priority over the spellbook generator and/or helper, unfortunately.

In the GameMastery Guide (book/pdf only, not on the PRD) there are a series of tables to randomly generate spells. It's meant for random scrolls, but could be useful for making random spellbooks.

I found this, which is kind of a card generator (sorry), but it does have some pretty neat features to it.

Edit: Just found these which are random spellbooks as loot and this which is a complete spell list index, probably the closest thing to what you are looking for if I understand you correctly.

The other thing that I like is the iPhone app I have called SRD Spellbook which is $.99 on the app store.

Hero Lab will generate a random spellbook? I'd love to know how.

Who said "random"?

John Kerpan, then the OP replied with an affirmative.

Thanks to everyone for the leads.

I know that and I saw that, however, neither my post, nor the original post said anything about it needing to be random. The original poster did confirm that he was looking for something like that, but not all of the suggestions are for randomly generated spellbooks.

So, if I misunderstood and your question was sincere, then I should have just stated that I did not mean to imply anything about a random spellbook generator in Hero Lab.

If I did not misunderstand and you were trying to use sarcasm instead of actually trying to add something worthwhile to the conversation, then I would point you to the "most important rule: Don't be a jerk" line right next to where you selected to submit your post.

I apologize to Mewnknight for this slight derailment, but the problem with forums like this is that people feel they can use sarcasm and be a "jerk" to people that they do not know because of anonimity. Even while they are distracting from someone asking a legitimate question and someone giving a legitimate answer. I think that is called flaming and should be discouraged.

MendedWall12, I do not not know you and I am not sure of your intent, but I do not care for sarcasm like that, especially if you have nothing positive to add. Just my two cents and I don't mean to be a jerk or worse back to you. Thanks!
