Thank you. That's what I always thought.

For Dim characters, do Wondrous Items (worn) or magic clothing re-size like rings do?

Yes, the party is all 3rd level, so I've made him a Sorceror 2. Hhe needs to be the big AoE caster for the party, because the others are pretty much fighter/ranger types.

It's been a long time since I played a game at such low levels. I've built in a character flaw in that he's a pyromaniac, but that does not need to necessarily be his baileywick. I know too that as he gains levels, most of the baddies will have some degree of fire resistance. The trickster facet will be fund, but due to the limited spells known for the class I need to be careful with spell choices.

Any recommendations on best starting spells, items (I have 3,000gp to spend), feats, traits, etc.?

Thank you for the assistance and interest in helping.

I've got an Atomie Sorceror and am looking for suggestions for a strong build. Feats, traits and magic item ideas most welcome.

Thank you Hivemind.

Thank you so very much!

Normally I would have the same view, however I've actually asked because I wanted to take bias out of its generation. This creature is to be my bonded beast. I did not want to cherry-pick myself a perfect fit (if that makes any sense.)

I figured having a third-party generate it would make it fair and balanced.

Can anyone help me with what its stat block would look like?

Looking more for rewards for a paladin slaying big baddies above his level.

Are there rules or tables in PF for sacrifice rewards (for good creatures) like there were in the Book of Vile Darkness?

Simple question: can the Paladin communicate with the animal? For instance: "Go ahead and scout for creatures up ahead."

I know a variation of this has been answered before, but here is what I need clarification on:

BBEG1 fights party in round 1, and summons BBEG2 (identical creature, same stats). Party defeats BBEG2, and BBEG1 runs away.

Does the party get XP for BBEG2 (summoned one) or not?

Wow. I guess I have to tell her I was wrong. Cripes. Oh well. I guess my old man memory is not to be trusted anymore. :)

I told my DM that I read somewhere that a winged creature cannot fly after it reaches 50% of its hit point total, but now I can't remember where I saw it.

Can anyone point me to the rule?

Thanks much. That's exactly what I needed to know.

Should I use the standard as is found here:

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/animals/rhinoceros

or use the Starting Statistics stats block and level it up to 5th level? Not sure which way to go about this, and want it to be legal (not broken).

Advice?

Also, at what HD would its size change from Medium to Large, etc?

As I said earlier, the animal will be used as a fighting companion more than an actual riding mount, so this is all good. I'm really beginning to like the whole idea for both flavor and function.

I'd love the roc but knew it was out of reach at my level. The rhino sounded to me like a great option for bad-assery, particularly for a female character. :)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I have a 5th level human female Paladin and want a unique, ballsy mount for my Divine Bond. I will be using the animal more as a fighting partner than a mount. Any problems with this? Also, if you can think of a flying mount that would be appropriate at my current level, please feel free to recommend it.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I'm running a 4th level female Castigator Paladin, and am planning ahead for what I might want to have for my bonded mount.

Does anyone have any ideas for "flavor" outside the usual suspects? I've been looking at things like Dire Wolverines, or maybe something that flies (other than griffons/hippogriffs).

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I wouldn't mind seeing paladins and rangers getting orisons, at say 3rd level. The paladin pulling form the cleric list of available orisons and the ranger from the druid list. It's not as though they increase the power level a great deal, and it does let them do some interest things. Like creating clean water to provide to beggars in the streets. Seems like something right up a paladins alley.

Maybe I'll add a house rule.

That makes a lot of sense. I'm glad I started this thread. It's giving me ideas.

I totally agree with you on this.

That's too bad. I think it would be a great idea to add in future game expansions.

1 person marked this as FAQ candidate.

Is there any way for a Paladin to gain access to zero level spells? It's odd that most other spellcasting classes have this level, but I've never seen it for the paladin. Thoughts?

Much agreed.

Has anyone seen/got a stat block for an Atomie player character? I want to make an Aomtie 1/Wizard 11, but don't know what starting ability modifiers, bonuses/penalties, etc to start with. I think it would be a fun character to run. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks to everyone for the leads.

What I'm looking for is a utility that can generate a spellbook for any PC or NPC of any particular level.

It is not free but Hero Lab will do that for you. It is the best player and DM tool that I have along with my PFRPG RD app for my tablet. Those two things are all I need to play any game of Pathfinder.

Thanks much. I'll look into it today.

I need something as simple as this http://www.imasy.or.jp/~miyamoto/rpg/javascript/spellbook.html

Exactly John. Yes, thanks.

I need a spellbook generator that's at least mildly up-to-date with the newer books that will allow me to print out simple lists by spell level, rather than the spell card generators that I am finding everywhere. I remember there used to be some great ones for DnD, but cannot find a single one for PF.

Please, please, please dont' send me to one of those card generators. Thanks for the help everyone.

Thanks Cheapy!

Gotcha. Thanks guys.

The reason I ask is that RAW say that an attack is a standard action. When a character has two attacks, is that not two standard actions? If not, what should they be called? Or is it that the two attacks are considered one standard action?

Exactly as I thought. Thanks much.

Can a chacter with two attacks (due to level) do a Throat Punch (as the feat) followed by a grapple since the two are standard attacks? This is of course if the character does not move in the round.

Does "at will" mean the same thing as an "immediate action", meaning it can be done even if it is not your turn? If it is not an immedate action, does it count towards your actions (standard or otherwise) in the round?

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

I'm running a Monk with a kickin' +7 Wisdom modifier and would love to find a feat which allows this to be added to damage (and attack bonus if possible).

Any suggestions?

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Excellent! Thanks much.

When summoning a creature as per the spell, does it matter if the creature is fresh or salt water? For example, can you summon a whalet in fresh water?

Can Acid Arrow be used underwater to strike a target at medium range? I would like some guidance for appropriate rules/references.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions!

Crane style... what level are you anyways?

Also could you provide the build you are using? We can do a lot more for you if we know more of where you are now.

These are all great suggestions. Thank you!

Currently:
Dwarf Monk7/Rogue 1

Scorp Style
Combat Reflexes
Imp Un Strike
Boar Style
Imp Grapple

+10/+10/+5 d8+5 full attack
Sneak Attack available
Getting Boar Style +2d6 almost all the time

The way he's built he packs a wicked punch. Most creatures which grapple me end up regretting it. I'm just tired of being the only one taking risks.

In our last game, the casters finally started using Summon Monster, bringing in a pair of salamanders. Hopefully they will continue to back me up.

The swarms aren't so bad as long as the casters are around, but since I'm the only "hands on" guy, I tend to be the one getting all the tentacles, appendages, etc.

The elven boots may be the next item on my wish list for the group casters to make.

I play a monk in a party of spellcasters and alchemists. That being said I'm the only front line melee combatant in the group. My DM loves reach monsters and swarms.

What suggestions do you have for me to stay alive? I get grappled all the time even with a good CMD (31) because the monsters always seem to have incredible CMBs.

Feats? Items?

That is an EXCELLENT option. It also gets closer to the supernatural powers of monks in fantasy play.

How about Empyreal (WIS-based) Sorcerer? You could then buff yourself with things like Mage Armor or Shield.

EDIT: Would alignment restrictions come into play if you dip into barbarian?

Yeah, the barbarian dip would be an alignment problem. Where can I find the Empyreal? That sounds VERY interesting!

If you're an unarmed monk, Medusa's Wrath is the choice to go, easily. Team up with a caster to set the conditions then whale on the poor dumb schmuck who got in your way. Stunning fist or teaming up with the party caster is the easiest way to get it off.

If you still want crushing blow, as it is certainly not a bad feat if yo have "freakishly high" stats. But if your wisdom modifier is under 4, I'd stick with Medusa's Wrath for sure.

Yep, that's what I was leaning towards. Any recs for class dips?
