My fall progress reports for my students are due *tomorrow*, and I haven't started them yet.

My students haven't been able to go outside for recess for two days because the air quality index is too high. They can't wrap their brains around it "because it's sunny and it's not raining out".

Aaaand I had a little girl get dropped off sick as a dog yesterday, throwing up *everywhere*. Her mom tried to say "Oh, she was just complaining about her breakfast."
"Did it have black sesame paste in it?"
"Yes! How... oh."
I'm glad I know what black sesame paste is, or I seriously would have suspected the girl of having PICA.

But on the bright side, I was finally able to run our family Legacy of Fire game for the first time on Monday after a two-month hiatus. And we might even play again (gasp!) this weekend!

What's wrong with black sesame paste?

(Serious question here, all I could find was that it was blackened mushed sesame seeds)
Edit: this IS in fact the sort of question one should ask while naked.

What's amusing is that I use Sonic, the ISP, and have never eaten at Sonic, the restaurant.

So I had a serious WTF moment there...

We'd enjoy the visit!

However, Coraline is more beagle than pug. She's got the big pug eyes and a pug-like nose, and her tail curls a bit, but that's all she's got going for her pug-wise. So, IM might be disappointed.

Oh, and "real" fire news: NobodysWife's aunt and uncle were allowed to return to their undamaged home yesterday, so apparently in spite of the headlines firefighters are making progress...

It was a joke based on the fact that when people introduce their dogs they always use one of those three words to describe them.

Honestly though, he doesn't notice actual people unless they enter his sniffing radius, or they scratch his back, he loves a good back scratching.

But I have a great reason.

Ah, Global Megacorpation, will you never cease to amaze and frustrate me?

I did a handoff to my manager yesterday. She kept complaining that my files weren't up-to-date. I kept insisting they were. We started comparing files.

And apparently our official fileserver has a major hiccup in it right now: If you upload an updated version of a file, it updates the timestamp, but not the file itself.

So I'm sitting here telling my manager, "No; they should be fine, the timestamps are all OK!"
"But I told you to fix this!"
"I DID!"
Downloads correctly-timestamped server version

It's 60 degrees, so no hat.

It's drizzling though, which evidently is cause to wear jackets... Oh come on, umbrellas now!

Damn parents today, can't handle inclement weather, why back in my day...

I'm wearing shorts and my Pac Man back in the day T-shirt, I'm not cold in the slightest and the drizzle isn't even enough to make my clothes wet.

Another cool drizzly day! Woo! I got to wear my new sweatshirt today. It says yay on the front in sparkly letters, and thanks to the good weather it isn't a totally sarcastic yay today. Just mostly sarcastic. Parent teacher conferences this evening mean there is definitely a good deal of sarcasm to that yay. Indubitably more as the evening goes on.

As an ingredient, nothing; it's delicious in mochi dumplings or in ice cream.

As the primary component in kindergartner hurlage, it's... not pretty.

I'll ask Hi, since at the moment he's living out of his car and using prepaid mobile for his internet connection. He's extremely tech-savvy, and may know a trick or two.

(And don't worry, lisamarlene, it's by choice, not by necessity. Hi's an odd duck. He can get a hotel room whenever he needs one, and our studio is always open to him. He just chooses not to own a home, nor rent from a landlord.)

Hmm... there's the whole "privacy" thing, where I don't post information about my friends unless they've given me explicit permission to do so.

So I believe that I can say that:
(a) Shiro underwent planned surgery today
(b) His life is not in any immediate danger

I happen to know that he's OK because his son has already made sure he's settled in for his stay at the hospital and said son is coming up to do Bowl'd with us tonight.

And yes, Hi is weird. It's why he and I get along so well.
