And to think, Disney wasn't sure Frozen would do all that well. But it did way better than other animated stuff this year.

Scarab Sages

Nekkid and frozen?!? Ouch! That might hurt.

Scarab Sages

My older brother and his wife brought a belated birthday gift for the boy yesterday - a suitcase (complete with wheels and extendable handle) shaped like treasure chest and decorated with Jake and the Neverland Pirates. The boy loves it. He's been pulling it all around the house this morning.

Scarab Sages

All right kids, time for me to go get ready for the day. Y'all be good, but if you can't be good, be careful.

Nope. It does not run on Windows 8 - can't find required .dll

Is it a DirectX-related/-named DLL? If so, grab the standalone/offline DirectX 9 installer, as it has some files that DirectX 11 in Win8 is lacking that older games look for by name. Installing DirectX 9 on a PC that already has DirectX 11 shouldn't have any other effect (your old and new games will still run using the DirectX 11 runtime).

When I first tried to install the GOG.com version of NWN2 Complete on my Win8 notebook, I got a "couldn't find" error for a DirectX DLL. Installing the standalone DirectX 9 installer allowed me to successfully install NWN2 afterward without an error. That was about six months ago, and the Win8 notebook still runs fine now.

It's api-ms-win-core-url-l1.dll

I know that feel. Looks remorsefully at old school h games that won't run

Story of my (computer gaming) life... There are so many games I would love to play again (or for the first time because I missed them when they were new...). *sniff*

Going back to Frozen, we adults were discussin how amazing the animation was and noting how, back in the day, Little Mermaid was considered cutting edge. Frozen blows it out of the water. Hell, Frozen blows it all out of the water. It makes me wonder what they'll do next.

Despite my hatred of Disney, I too am intrigued by what is coming down the pipe.

Not if you're me.

I am back after eight hours of Sunday overtime. Ouch, my feet.

It hurts. I think the first time I played Warcraft(not WOW, just plain old warcraft) was not long before I moved in with my then fiancee/now wife back in 2007.

By plain old Warcraft you mean Warcraft I, II or III?

I'd have to check... I think it was either two or three.

Did it have Thrall and the ability to have heroes who leveled up?

If so, it was three. That was a good game. And then they ruined it with the MMO.

And in other news, I think I finally have come to understand why websites are so expensive.

They're such a hassle to create.

I am jealous. I must now sacrifice you to Jhelos, the god of jealousy. Please don't take this personally.

Ah, the Yankee Trader, the good-natured simple telepath, and the gate. Great story

Best Simak ever did was the City series of stories. I'd love to see a movie-treatment of that

Another possible field of expertise for engineer: Cryonics. Will I have enough options for that one, though?

Meatloaf? Meatloaf? Meatloaf? Meatloaf? Bacon Explosion meatloaf?

Oh, and another contender - anatomy.

Bat meatloaf? It's hellishly spicy, though...

What kind of engineer? Multiple disciplines might fit that field.

Booo! {throws JMD031's Die of Bad Puns at the dragon}

I'm looking at that Bacon Explosion recipe, and it looks kinda... bland. Has anyFaWTLie made it or something similar? I'm thinking adding a little chorizo, minced garlic, some good mushrooms... maybe something else? Maybe a little (not too much) cheese inside... a mix of manchego, chihuahua, and oaxaca/mozzarella?

He is very huggy.

Morning FaWtL folk, one and all. Hope you are all well, had a lovely weekend and have a good day today. :)

Lovely day Saturday, the sun was shining, and the little one was in great form. He's teething a bit, but still in great form regardless. He's bitey. ^_^ His Mum agreed to let me have him again next weekend, so I'm hyped. :D

Sunday was grand, the weather was lousy, but that's okay. I was in playing Project Zomboid and X Com all day. :P A grand auld weekend altogether.

That's brilliant news LordSynos, both for this week and the next.

Scarab Sages

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Monday! It's a bit chilly here this morning. And I think we're only supposed to get up into the 50s. Winter's last feeble attempt to make our lives unfun.

Silly winter.

In other news, I accidently creeped my wife out. We usually have a monkey stuffed animal hanging off the top of the boy's door so that he can't close it all he way. Lately, it's been creeping him out.

Before going to be last night, I checked on the boy (as always) and noticed the monkey was missing. So I found it in the other room, and put it back in place. I figured it had fallen off and he had dragged it in the other room.

This morning I get a text from my wife asking if I had put the monkey back up because she had taken it down upon request from the boy. She freaked a bit when she saw it back up.

Oops. Bad daddy.

Scarab Sages

In other other news, the wife wants to go into New Orleans to visit with family and show off baby girl. She wanted to leave this Friday and stay through the weekend and all next week. I told her there was no way I was letting her get on the road by herself with two kids.

So I looked at flights, thinking I could ride down with them, fly back to Houston, then fly back to NOLA to do the return drive. That would have cost like $800+

F~~~ THAT S~#@!

How's about I drive down with them on Friday, drive back on Sunday, then do the while thing in reverse the following weekend.

Scarab Sages

What the hell is up with me and all these long ass posts this morning? I know I'm typically overly verbose, but that's when I talk.

The Moores can probably attest to that. As can Jess, Badger, Patrick, and an untold number of people who have met me IRUL.

If I'm typing on a computer, I can get long winded in my typing, but not usually when I'm on the phone. Damn stoopid tiny keyboard.

CURSE YOU, TINY KEYBOARD!!

F#!&! I'm doing it again.

Scarab Sages

S*~&BALLS!

Scarab Sages

There! Nice and short.

Incidently, my phone autocorrected S&%%BALLS to all caps. I have trained it well.

Scarab Sages

It'll also autocorrect BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...to all caps And this specific length.

Scarab Sages

All right! Some good, quality posts here today. But now I must away!

Forsooth! Parting is such sweet sorrow, my brethren. Be good today, and try to have an awesome day. Peace out!

Sorry Orthos.

Another frackin' snow day.

do you have SwiftKey? It makes typing fun! Also, the winter Wonderland keyboard rules! I make it snow every time I swipe!

Though probably more an ice and wind chill advisory day than a snow day. We didn't get that much.

Don't be sorry for me, it's in the high 50s and comfortably cool despite the rain. Which isn't all that heavy. =)
