Has anyone yet referred to Hell's Vengeance as "Rise of the Thrune Lords"?

Is Razmir getting a section in Inner Sea Faiths? (Since he's a false god, I'd assume it will have different information from the rest; no Obedience, for example.)

Not at all. He's not a deity, therefore has no place in a book devoted to deities, in my opinion. He was included in Inner Sea Gods to the extent he was for completion, and because we had to fill a half page to make things work out pretty, frankly.

Nope; not till now.

I've noticed that, compared to a lot of creatures based in real folklore, Windigos have lately been cropping up in more and more horror movies, at least since the late 90's.

Why do you think Windigos have received such visibility, and what do you find personally cool about the monster?

Wendigos have been a part of fiction for a long time. I actually just watched a movie about them tonight, sorta... "Dark Was the Night."

I like that they're spooky woodland monsters with lots of lore about them and that they tie into a really creepy theme.

Question about deities (or rather, one specific deity in particular):

Is the Peacock Spirit actually dead?

There are some hints and suggestions that it is not, in fact, dead, and I'm curious as to whether you are willing/able to tell me whether or not it is still alive.

I was curious about the "Eternal Emperor" Oracular religion/organization in Po Li, Tian Xia.
How much is it present outside of Po Li? Is there other "Oracular religions" in Tian Xia (incl. Po Li?) or elsewhere?
Does Paizo plan on further exploring this group? PrC? Would they have 'martial' champions ala Paladin/Inquisitors?
Regardless, I think there is interest in "non-Japanese" Tian Xia, and the Lung Wa successors are prime candidates for that.

We've been very coy and secretive about the Peacock Spirit. Whether or not it's even a deity or ever was is not yet revealed, even.

We will say more some day, but for now... radio silence!

It's pretty focused on Po Li... it's not well known beyond that region, I suspect. We've no plans at this time to do more with the group, but we ARE going to do more with Tian Xia in the future. We've got info on the hobgoblin empire and the samsaran nation in particular in some upcoming books...

It was okay. I liked the first half better when it was still building up some creepy atmosphere, but the second half turned into a kinda boring, by-the-numbers siege scene that I've seen done a million times, and done better half of those times.

You can probably expect some Tian Xia stuff here and there, but we're unlikely to do a big book focused ONLY on Tian Xia anytime soon. Sales for the Tian Xia stuff we've done so far, beyond Jade Regent, have been underwhelming, alas.

I missed it in the theaters but saw it cheap on video tape (yes video tape) so I picked it up and I agree it is a great movie that the critics did not seem to get. Just watched it recently on Netflix.

I'm sure there is, but there's not one officially statted up yet. You might wanna check out the 3.5 Fiend Folio. It has a version of the wendigo that's a template that I stuck an easter egg for Ravenous into when I wrote it up—it has a "ravenous bite" attack.

You wrote the wendigo template!?

I loved that template... I was kind of sad to see it replaced by a standard monster.

can you explain it a lil better than what the book has, im confused so much.

i got 1 player saying that each pc should have access to their max teams, and the rebellion should have its max teams.

im thinking all teams, count against the total excluding the unique teams that dont count.

can you possibly be anymore direct in the intent so we dont have people reading into it.

I do quite like the wendigo template as well, but it's not open content, and when it came time to stat up a wendigo for Pathfinder, it made sense to approach it from an ENTIRELY different angle, because that way we avoided having WotC (rightfully) be concerned we were poaching closed content from their book. It's been kinda tricky, in fact, when I need to write about something for Pathfinder that I wrote a fair amount about for D&D as a result.

AlgaeNymph wrote:

I suspect that they'd have to cut the stitches now and then to get to the teeth to fix them... but that said, I think that a BETTER solution is that they pull their teeth before they stitch shut the first time. After all... if they don't use their mouth, they don't need to chew, and thus teeth are useless anyway.

Dunno. I talk about Call of Cthulhu a fair amount here and there on these boards and feel fine about that. I guess the "off topic" threads would work best?

Understandable, but maybe tying it in with new (setting specific) crunch could expand the interest segment?

Po Li -> Oracles (could include Iblydos stuff?), Kao Ling -> Hobgoblins (incl. Avistani mercenaries), Quain -> Kung Fu (+other martial art trad's)
Dtang Ma -> Sorceror stuff, Xa Hoi -> Dragons, Chu Ye -> Oni (+other native outsiders?), Ling Shen/Shokuro -> Fighter/Cavalier/Big Army stuff (+Molthune?)
Nagajor -> Naga & Nagaji, Minata -> Wayang & Tian-Sing/witchdoctor tribal stuff (+Fetchling/Shadow folk?), + Kitsune & Ratfolk & Tengu product(s)?
Or I guess even a Tien/Shu focused product, touching on Oracles, Monks/Martial Arts, Fighter/Cavs, merchant clans?

Not necessarily needing to be 100% focused on Tian Xia in all cases, but they could fit into "Of Golarion" products,
and "happen to" have a heavy focus on Tian Xia areas that exemplify the thematic focus...?
I'm not particularly over-interested in more crunch, but if it enables more attention to be given to these areas, why not?

I just replied to your PM on this question. In the future, please refrain from double posting questions to me; it uses up twice the time and I've got lots of other things to handle in a day as well. It's best to ask these questions here in this thread, so everyone can benefit from the answer.

The short version: the number of teams a PC can manage will often exceed the number of team actions your rebellion can take, particularly at the start of the campaign when your rebellion's actions are lower. Having 2 PCs with natural born leader is overcompensation.

Thing is, for me? The flavor stuff is FAR MORE INTERESTING than crunch.

100% Agreed...
I guess the idea could be approached by doing flavor books that also include non-Tian Xia stuff,
e.g. Armies of Golarion (incl. Ling Shen/Shokuro + Molthune + Lastwall + Qadira? etc),
Monastic Orders of Golarion (Quain, Vudra/Jalmeray, Ouat, Chelish +etc),
Dragons of Golarion (Xa Hoi, other Tian, Avistani/Garundi Dragons), and so forth...
as a way to start building up Tian Xia flavor background while not able to do as much 100% Tian Xia material.
Anyhow, I guess the problem is that the flavor stuff you do get out just builds the appetite for more of what you've teased!

BTW, I'm not into setting novels myself, but do those novels tend to lead to more sales of Campaign Setting stuff tied to same area?

I don't think they do—novels and RPG supplements have SOME crossover, but as far as I know, they are much more separate in who they sell to overall.

LazarX, you're thinking of Paradise Lost (Milton), not the third part of The Divine Comedy (Dante).

James, do you think it has something to do with the prurient side of human nature that enjoys depictions of other people being tortured but finds other people being rewarded boring? I mean, we have all kinds of movies like the "Saw" franchise depicting relatively innocent people being horribly tormented, but I can't imagine anyone paying to see a movie that consisted of an anonymous benefactor giving random people cash and puppies.

I think the REASON Satan is more interesting and evocative is because of the same reason I list above. Satan is easier to grasp, and thus easier to identify with and understand.

I think despair and torment and agony are easier to understand than perfection and bliss and paradise, yes. Conflict is what all of that boils down to. Conflict is what makes a story worth observing, and you can't have conflict if everything is perfect and happy and nice.
