Pathfinder Iconic Action Figures

Paizo General Discussion

I am a big action figure collector, I have been collecting for a long while now, and I have been thinking it would be very cool to see roughly 12" versions of the iconic characters. I mean highly detailed action figures that are just beautiful to look at. Thought I would post it here and see if anyone else would be interested in that idea.

12" highly detailed collectable figures of the Iconics?

So far i only bought anime-inspired action figures(Bandai's Soul of Chogokin line specifically) but these could be interesting.

Not particularly interested, actually. Any potential love I could have had for RPG action figures went down the drain with the debacle that was Shadowrun Duels.

I'd buy an Ezren and a Harsk.

That would be awesome.

I think something along a 5-6" action figure size would be more doable. Akin to Star Wars figures, or the small size GI Joes. While I think it would be cool for a collector to have some large GI Joe/Barbie/General Custer/6 Million Dollar Man sized figs, it would not be cost effective to manufacture.

Now, what we need is to have someone make clothing for the 12" GI Joes and Barbies out there so you can dress them up like the iconics.

I guess you are right...6-8" collectible figures of the iconic characters. I would buy the whole set, and have them on a shelf above my PF books.

I've looked into it, and for right now the costs associated with building molds for this type of thing means we'd need to sell several thousand of each figure (likely more like 10 or 20 thousand), and that seems like a bit of a stretch to me.

I want Pathfinder action figures too (and I know Lisa does as well), so in the meantime we're doing everything we can to grow the size of the Pathfinder audience in general to the point where something like this becomes more feasible.

We _are_ producing some Pathfinder Mini-Mates with our partners at Diamond Select Toys, with the first set (featuring Merisiel, Harsk, Valeros, and a Goblin) coming out some time around Christmas. Mini-Mates are about 2 inches tall, and come with swappable equipment, hair, and outfits, so it should be pretty cool and a nice way to pass the time until genuine action figures are a real possibility.

Awesome! It is cool to know that you guys have looked into it. I will definitely be getting my hands on those Mini-Mates when they come out. Thank you for addressing this thread too! Never thought it would actually catch the eyes of Paizo.

Hmm. Interesting. As long as you go LEGO and not MegaBloks when that time comes...

I LOVE my Play Arts Kai Mass Effect figures, and the would LOVE to put the Pathfinder iconics next to them on the shelf!

As someone who really loved the old LJN AD&D action figures (at least the pre-Battle-matic/Shield Shooter ones), I'd be all for this. The Dragonne and Hook Horror of that line are still some of the most well done, detailed I've seen, and with the advancements in action figure detail in the years since those came out, I think these could be really awesome.

Just imagine:

2-3 series of Figures would cover the Iconic characters, Then another series of Iconic monsters like the goblin. Crap every series could have an exclusive goblin for that series or a limited edition goblin. GOTTA COLLECT THEM ALL!

I would surely take many of the "base" iconics, in particular:
Merisiel
Valeros
Seltyel
Kyra
Seoni
Sheela
Amiri
Of course they would have to be really awesome.

I would say quality comparison to the Blizzard's Action figure line, but just way cooler characters :)

Interestingly, we have the last batch of the Hook Horror LJN action figure here for sale on paizo.com! We managed to buy a large batch of these figures, unpacked and loose. For $9.99, you can hardly go wrong with this vintage piece of D&D history!

VERY excited for the Minimates deal and will be snagging the whole Pathfinder line of them.

Working with Diamond Select holds so much potential! I'd love to see the Pathfinder line of busts or statues start with a Merisiel, followed shortly thereafter with a long and successful line of Golarion's finest.

I may be wrong but it seems like busts/statues survive at a MUCH lower print run from my past experiences.

Doable?

Imo, if Paizo ever does make a line of collectible figures I would love to see the "Red Dragon Goblin. He would never leave my desk.

Action Figures are the terms used by guys who'd rather not admit that they're playing with dolls.

Noooooooo! It can't be! It says "large size action figure" right on the box! Next you'll be telling me that fashion outfits are code for "doll clothing"!

Personally, I don't think I'd buy action figures. I already have mini's.
