FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (for GMs)
How do I sign up to GM?
Go to our GM Registration form. Fill out the form and choose which scenario you would like to GM. Please fill out the form for each separate scenario you wish to run.
How many games can I sign up to GM?
You may only GM one table of one special. You may sign up to GM as many other games as you choose, though we ask that you consider what you can reasonably handle while still providing a great experience for your players and completing all games within the given timeframe. Remember, life happens to the best of us, so please do not commit to maximum capacity.
If this will be your first time GMing PbP or you are still learning the ropes, we strongly recommend that you only do one game at a time. It’s more work than it looks.
What if I want to sign up to GM a Special?
If you wish to GM one of the Specials above please fill out this form. Deadline for submission is Jan 22, 2024.
In addition, we require that all those who GM a special have some prior experience with GMing Play-by-Post! GMing PBP is fun, but specials are a time-pressured environment inappropriate for learning the techniques of a new format! Instead, GM something else with us, and then apply for the next set of specials we offer.
What do you mean by scenario support?
Paizo will gift you the scenario that you wish to run — if you sign up by our deadline. Not included: APs, Adventures in hardback books (e,g.: Dark Archives, King Maker Companions, Emerald Spire, or Thornkeep.
If you need scenario support, you must register your game by February 05, 2024.
What if I want to add a game as a GM after the February 05, 2024 Scenario Support Deadline?
That’s fine, you just need to provide your own copy of the adventure.
May I add a game after March 04, 2024, the official start of PBP Outpost VII?
Yes, you may add a game after the official start of Outpost.Though you must still register your game through the GM Registration for tracking purposes as well as finish the game by the end of Outpost. The Outpost team reserves the right to rule that it is too late to begin a game for convention credit.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (for Players)
How do I sign up to play?
Once we begin to get some submitted games we will create the spreadsheet with all of the games for General Player sign-up on February 12, 2024. This spreadsheet will be posted shortly.
What are the different PBP Lodges?
Will there be boons for Players and GMs?
We expect to be able to offer boons for PFS1, plus increased AcP for PFS2 and SFS.
Can I participate if I am new to Play-by-Post?
Certainly! Just let your GMs and Players know. They’ll be glad to help. We also have plenty of resources available to help you prepare, reach out within the appropriate lodge so we know what you need.
When will you open the seats for signup?
We will open up early signup for GMs on February 05, 2024. This is a courtesy for our GMs. GMs. Please limit yourself to 1 table of your choice and 1 Special until February 12.
General player signup will open February 12, 2024. Please only sign up for the number of games you can handle. It’s better to enjoy one or two games than to get overwhelmed. Also, please remember other people are excited to play. Even if you are a player who can handle multiple tables, please be considerate and sign up for only a few to begin and allow others time to sign up before you add more.
Wah! Why do you have so few tables of the Special? I won’t get a seat!
Don’t panic! We will be starting with only so many tables each Special. We’re doing this so that we can better respond to demand, and so that we don’t overschedule tables.
What kind of scenarios fit the theme?
With a theme of The Allies We Made Along the Way, we are focusing on scenarios that include allies, friends and collaborators the Society meets and befriends in their adventures.

I see an error in a listing.
Pathfinder 2e 3-29 Equal Exchanges, the Hidden Current
3-19 is actually Pathfinder Society Scenario #3-19: Mean Streets of Shadow Absalom. Which one is it suppose to be?
There was an error while copying information, I've fixed it. Should be 3-19 - Mean Streets of Shadow Absalom

Less rules content but more, "Uh hey I messed up the map on Google Slides, any ideas how to fix it?"
If you do it, you can use Undo. There's also a way to restore an earlier version, but since I'm posting from my phone I can't look it up.

I was thinking if someone else does it or if I'm trying to prevent mess ups. I'll give an example. So there's a dungeon map, PC tokens are on it, NPC tokens are on it, and an AoE template is placed on the map. Unfortunately that can 'trap' the tokens under it so I need a way to always keep the tokens on top. In certain 'document software' you could make something a watermark to keep it in the background. So something like that or some way to navigate/manage multiple 'layers' created by certain effects.
Hopefully I didn't confuse everyone.Pirate Rob |

You can set an image to be the background of a slide. That'll keep it permanently on the bottom. Google Slides does weird things with aspect ratios if they don't match the slide. IIRC the easiest way to do this is to paste the image into slides and then take a screen shot of that cropped to the slide and then select that image to be the backround.
There's no way to force to tokens to be on top but when you add a template you can right click and "send to back" and that'll put it on the bottom layer, but still above the background.
I frequently don't go through the extra steps of making the map the background and just right click send template to back and then right click send map to back to get things in the order I want.

Sometimes I've used a map that's just a copy/pasted image, and then hidden things that the players don't know about yet or can't see under the map. That way I can keep track of the position but the players can't see them.
Same trick, really.
When I need to see those hidden tokens, send the background to the back. If they're still supposed to be hidden after I checked on them, send them to the back again.

@all: I apologize if my previous post sounded demanding/entitled, that wasn't my intention at all. I was just surprised because last Gameday there were way more PFS1 (and also some CORE) tables...
kaervek78 wrote:I've noticed the same thing. You can also GM and change that. There are not many PFS1 games offered so far - and no CORE at all...
Will there be PFS1 CORE tables as well?
Maybe also for the special?
I am currently attending GM school to be able to step up in the future. :-)

Yes - this, 100%. If there is any one single piece of advice I would give to GMs that use Slides, it's this. Please - learn how to set an image as a slide background. Here is the Google how-to for that. It is a huge quality of life improvement for everyone, both players and GMs - especially for people accessing the map from a mobile device.

Thank you and also Pirate Rob and Super Zero for the help. Putting it as a background is great unless there's more than one template in play. Say for example a Magic Circle vs. Evil and an Entangle. But I think I can set one (longer duration and/or not moving one) as the background and then 'Move to Back' on something that's of a shorter duration or that might move - like the Magic Circle.
I'm still experimenting with Google Slides to try and learn how to do the 'tech things' to run.Tonatiuh Ramírez Venture-Lieutenant, Online—PbP |

GM Early Signups now open!
Early signups for FCFS and Specials tables are now open for our GMs (and ONLY our GMs) as a special thank you for running games for Outpost VII. Please remember to limit your signups to 1 special table and 1 regular table for now. When general seating opens on the 12th, you can sign up for more tables.
Note: Anyone that jumped the gun and signed up for a table seat before this announcement will need to sign up again as all fields were cleared.

Maybe also for the special?
If you want to play the special in core, then when signups open, put your core character on the wait-list, making sure to include CORE in the tier. If there is enough demand, we will see what we can do.
GM Rutseg |
I am willing to GM for the Outpost but I see the time for scenario support has already past. Is that a hard limit or can we still get support? I am considering to run #4-01 - Rise of the Goblin Guild, Core or Standard, whatever gets more interest, or perhaps another season 4 scenario.
I only discovered about the Outpost today when I started to see threads popping in the Recruitment forum. And I guess many recurrent GMs and players had similar issues to find out about this event.
As a way to improve awareness, it might be positive to have the option to receive an email with the announcement of such events for everyone who has participated on them in the past, specially GMs, as not all of us keep track of the Online Play forum.

General Seating now open!
General seating is now open for all players. While there is no limit to the number of games you can sign up for, we do ask that everyone do their best not to overcommit. We also would ask that you not sign up for tons of games at the very beginning, to give everyone the chance to find a seat at a table. Sign up for a few, then wait a day or two to give others the chance.
Remember that the 1 game per character rule still applies to Play By Forum/Play by Discord games, so no signing up to play in multiple games with the same character.
For more information, read the full announcement at the Paizo Forums

I have either reported a game a million times or not at all. I can't tell whether the form isn't being submitted due to an error, or whether there is no confirmation screen. When I click the submit button, nothing seems to happen. I have not received an automated confirmation E-mail, which I have received in the past.
If it isn't being submitted due to an error, it may be because there are no Time Slots in the drop down menu, but the Time Slot field is required, so nobody can fill it out.
Watery Soup |
The game has appeared on my screen. There has been no confirmation about which of my submissions went through, and there has been no reply here, both of which are annoying.
The game has been reported without the replay from one character, and I don't know whether I had forgotten to check the box (possible), or whether the inputter forgot to check the box. This has to be remedied, but there are no instructions on how to do so. Should I submit a new RPG Chronicle? Which way - the Guest link or the Create a New Game? PM someone? Who?
Normally, I'd just find someone and PM, but I'm posting the complaint publicly, because in general, I've found all the communication about this convention to be lacking, all the way from "let's open registration and not announce it in the Lodges" to now.
bigrin42 Venture-Captain, Online—PbP |
First, let me apologize for not keeping up with this page. For some reason it got moved off of my list of active threads to watch.
Waterysoup, if you are still having issues reporting games, please PM me either here or on discord. There was an issue with guest GM reporting requiring a starting time slot, and not having one available. We've addressed that now, but I understand it was aggravating.
That said, it would be nice if you dm'd somebody either here or on discord to get your answer quicker. I understand that it can be frustrating when you are posting on the announcement thread and no one is reading what you have to say, but if you want a solution, the easiest way is always to go directly to somebody the idea.
If you had dm'd somebody, I could have had the issue fixed for you in 5 minutes or less.
So again, sorry you got frustrated with no one responding to you. I imagine the other event coordinators probably had this thread fall off of their watch list for The same reason it fell off of mine. Let's get this addressed and move on
