Cractecter creation:
Stats=4d6 drop the lowest or Foible focus.
2 traits and 1 campaign trait
backstory explaining why you sent off to explore.
any races are allowed.
no psionics or occult, or third party.

Recruitment ends on the 26th

4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 3, 6) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 4) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 3) = 15 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 1, 1) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 6) = 19 18
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 3, 5) = 16 14

I'd like to throw together a swashbuckler. I'll ruminate on the stats and perhaps come up with a workable backstory over the next couple of days.

I'll give the 4d6 method a try. I've heard good things about Kingmaker, so let's see if I might conjure something that I could toss into the box.

4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 4) = 14 -> 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 5) = 19 -> 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 4) = 13 -> 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 5) = 19 -> 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 5) = 16 -> 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 1) = 5 -> 4

That's... uhm... wow. I'm speechless, really.
I'm... not sure I can make something like that happen. On one hand, the roll is kinda on the high end of average, but... 4. Sweet lord.

Ok, let's give this a try using 4d6 and drop lowest...

4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 3) = 16 - 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6, 2) = 16 - 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 6) = 18 - 16
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 1) = 17 - 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 5) = 16 - 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 6) = 14 - 13

Those are some pretty good stats...so many options, I'll have to give this some thought.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 3, 5) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 2) = 15 14
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 5, 1) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 6) = 19 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 5, 5) = 17 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 4) = 17 15

Not bad.

@Captain Ford oh you poor soul. Ouch

Is this an open recruitment?

yes

Silver Crusade

4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 4) = 16 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5, 4) = 12 = 11
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 6) = 19 = 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 3) = 18 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 4) = 18 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5, 1) = 11 = 10

Not bad I can make some thing with this

What is foible focus?

I'm pretty sure that it is pick two stats, one gets an 18 the other an 8. The remainder of your stats are generated by 1d10 + 7.

Foible focus

18
8
12
13
16
14

Some type of caster... haven't decided

roll: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 4) = 13 = 12
roll: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5, 6) = 22 = 17
roll: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 4, 4) = 17 = 13
roll: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6, 3) = 14 = 13
roll: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 6) = 18 = 17
roll: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 1, 2) = 12 = 11

I'm thinking either an arcanist or a swashbuckler. I'll put together one of each and see which I feel more inspired by.

18
8
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Decided to try foible, since I've never done that before.

Think I'm leaning heavily toward a Hunter.

Silver Crusade

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

I don't wish to rule. I wish to dominate.

I: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 2) = 17
hope: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 2) = 11
I: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6, 4) = 20
get: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 5) = 18
good: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 2, 4) = 14
rolls: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 2) = 5

That 4 though...@CaptainFord At least you're not alone in that regard, eh?

Things Might get Racy Over Here...:
I would not blame you if you said no GM Calvus, but might you, perhaps, be willing to allow me to use the race builder from Advanced Race Guide? I would keep the RP low (no higher than Tiefling/Aasimar) but having that stat set with a +4 to one of them would be nice... If you're not cool with that (again, totally fair, no contest) I can still work with it.

4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 1) - 1 = 6
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 5) - 3 = 12
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (4, 6, 3, 5) - 3 = 15
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 2, 6, 2) - 2 = 10
4d6 - 4 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 5) - 4 = 16
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 4, 4) - 1 = 13

1 Dump stat, the rest =Good to ok. I can live with that.

I always enjoy Kingmaker, how would you like us to do starting equipment? Average, roll?

4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5, 4) = 15 12
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 1, 2) = 9 8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 5) = 17 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 4, 2) = 12 10
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 5) = 17 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5, 4) = 21 17

Looks like I'm gonna be a party face, probably a Cleric.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 5, 2) = 17=15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 3) = 16=14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 2) = 17=15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 1, 3) = 10=9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 1) = 13=12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 5) = 17=15

Question of note GM is it possible to reflavor a campaign trait for someone who is really far out (like say from Cheliax or Katapesh)?

Im thinking half-elf empyreal sorcerer/ cleric/ mystic theurge(early entry style)

I'm building an Human Aldori Sworldord Fighter, but I need to know what the starting gold is, please.

Starting Gold: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 6) = 17 x 10 = 170 gp

This of course assumes rolling for starting gold. DM Calvus, if this is a poor assumption, please let me know.

Talomyr checking in with his submission.

@DM Calvus: If you need clarity on anything, please ask. Also if you have suggestions based on how you intend to run the game, I would like to hear what you have say.

Silver Crusade

DM Calvus... Synthesist Summoner you have not said no to this.. so i'm checking if you'll allow one in your game? If not all good I have another character to submit.

Paladin baby!!

Focus STR
Foible WIS
DEX: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
CON: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
INT: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
CHA: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

Sexy rolls, perhaps a little too sexy...

I'll see what I can come up with

Probably a sorcerer

18 Charisma
8 Str
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Dex
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14 Con
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Int
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8 Wis

e: Wow, that's... pretty crap. Any chance at a reroll?

if so, they're below

alt roll?:

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Dex
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9 Con
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16 Int
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17 Wis

Honestly, a lot more palatable.

Got my character up. Pyotr Nikol Tovanya, Human Fighter of House Lebeda, at your service.

What's focus-foible method of determining other four stats? I see one 20pb (or 15 points on one-for-one basis) and lots of d10+7 rolls.

Ok, I have an old kingmaker character I can remain for this, Magnus Leifson. I will adjust stats and purchases, update, etc but background and personality will remain the same.

Silver Crusade

And here he is. I need to check equipment and traits, but I've changed stats and adjusted accordingly.

Grand Lodge

Dotting for interest.

Dotting and rolling. Still no idea what i want.
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

24pt build? not too bad

Okay, going to make a sword and board fighter for this application. Ability scores first:

4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 2) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2, 5) = 17 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 3) = 12 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 5) = 19 16
4d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 2, 3) = 17 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 4) = 16 13

Not bad, 31 pt buy. So here is the application:

Lucius Baradain

Description:
Lucius is quite a handsome looking young man. His hair is a tussled dirty blond, and his eyes are a pale grayish blue due to his mother's Ulfen descent. Being somewhat vain in nature, Lucius takes care of his appearance, keeping his face closely shaved and his stylish clothing clean. Lucius is extremely athletic, possessing a tall, lean and muscular physique. His expression is often mischievous, but at the same time calculating and shrewd.

Physical Traits
Height: 6'1
Weight: 172 lbs
Hair: Sandy Blond
Eyes: Brown

Personality:
Lucius is quite intelligent and extremely athletic, and sometimes overly cocky. He believes in himself, if perhaps sometimes beyond his ability. This tendency towards overconfidence can grate on people, though his easy-going disposition and sense of humor leaves him not without his charm. Lucius considers himself to be something of a smooth operator when it comes to the opposite sex, but he is probably greater in his mind than reality would indicate.

Whatever negative influence life amongst the children of Nobles has had on Lucius, he is a man of possessing fairly strong morals and principles. His parents raised him to have a sense of duty and compassion towards others, and to protect those who cannot protect themselves. Lucius believes in the rule of law, though he has a practical understanding of it that leaves him flexible and reasonable towards its application.

Finally, while court life has proved to be lax and decadent, Lucius does still have a strong work ethic when it is required of him. During his time in Restov, Lucius worked hard and proved his ability beyond any doubt to his superiors.

Background:
Lucius grew up in Restov, the youngest son of Theodric Baradain, a loyal soldier in the employment of the Lebeda household. Lucius grew up in Silverhall with this parents, and led a fairly simply childhood. Baron Lebeda recognized the intelligence and talents of the young Baradain boy, and paid for Lucius to be trained in the sword and the art of war in Restov. His natural gifts apparent to his masters, Lucius excelled in his study of engineering and his training with the blade.

When he was sixteen and finished his studies, he came home and found employment serving under his father for the Lebeda household. By this time, Baron Lebeda had died, and Dame Sarrona Lebeda was regent while the Baron's eldest son Lander was still a minor. Lucius being of an age with Lander became fast friends with the future Baron, and found himself spending time on Royal Hunting expeditions with Lander, and other such privileged activities.

Worried that his boy might be getting soft by spending too much time in the court and gaining considerably more influence than himself, Theodric volunteered Lucius for the assignment of traveling to the River Kingdoms to investigate issues with banditry on behalf of the Baradain household. Though unhappy at the prospect of leaving his friends and family, Lucius begrudgingly decided to take on the task.

Writing Sample:
As his eyes scanned over the document, an unmistakable scowl began to form on the brow of young Lucius. Glancing up from the document to look his gruff middle-aged father Theodric square in the eyes, Lucius suspiciously inquired "Just why exactly are you showing me this? Why should I care about bandit activity in the River Kingdoms?"

With a sour, yet bemused demeanor, Theodric responded curtly to his cocksure eldest boy "Because you’re going on expedition Lucius; Lady Lebeda has asked for volunteers to put an end to the banditry bordering her lands and harassing trade to the west." With a shrug, Theodric smiled and added "This is good for you Lucius, you need to get some field experience."

Growing ever more incredulous by the minute, Lucius wave the document about as he retorted "Field experience? This is a sheriff’s work father; I didn’t go to study in Restov to skulk about in the woods hunting for petty thieves!"

Unmoved and intransigent in his position, Theodric flatly stated "You have much to learn Lucius, and this kind of experience can tell you much about the Kingdom." Walking across the room to the wait table, Theodric poured himself a cup of wine before smugly addressing his son once more "In any event, there be no use in arguing with me; I’ve already put your name forth to Dame Serona, so you’re going lest you wish to disappoint her. You leave in two days."

Though he was now seething with anger, Lucius controlled his emotion as he coolly countered his father "Lander and I were supposed to be on a hunting expedition in two days…"

"Aye, you were Lucius, but I guess that will have to wait." Without any further discussion, Theodric got up and left the room, but not before adding "Better get packing son."

Standing somewhat dumbfounded, Lucius shook his head as he considered the exchange that just took place. After a few moments, Lucius gradually resigned himself to his fate with a sardonic grin; indeed he couldn’t very well say no to Dame Sarona Lebeda, and his father knew that.

So, it's off to the River Kingdoms is it? Well then, time to go make a name for myself…

Kingdom Role:
Lucius would make an excellent General, and future skill points will go towards any skill that helps develop him in the art of war such as Profession Soldier.

While General would be his first choice, Lucius could also excel as the Marshal, Warden or Royal Enforcer.

Character Direction:
From a gameplay standpoint, Lucius will be a front-line warrior, definitely in a tank capacity with moderate damage output. As a Fighter, he'll favor heavy armor & shield for high armorclass, and will be selecting all feats that lead towards and effective dual wielding sword & shield basher.

Here is the character sheet for Aestereal's swashbuckler. Background, appearance, and personality will be done in the next couple of days.

Grand Lodge RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16

Here is my shot.

4d6 Method:

4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 2) = 8 7
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 5, 6) = 19 17
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3, 5) = 16 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 4, 6) = 15 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 2) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 2, 6) = 19 17

Not bad! But that means I am one of the following: weakling, clutz, sickly, learning disabled, clueless, or nerd... Yeah, I can work with that!

Derren Foxlight wrote:

I was considering a similar build, but couldn't get the feats to work out right at 1st level. Is there something mechanically I'm missing that gives you an extra feat? Normally the swashbucker does not get a bonus feat of their choosing at 1st. Just curious for future reference.

Oh man, you're right. My build is wrong.

I managed to confuse myself pretty hard when I swapped from Inspired Blade to regular swashbuckler and back about five times. Also, it was late. Disregard Derren Foxlight until further notice, please.

Dot.

Scarab Sages

dotting for interest, Heya JCmarine how you doing?

I will probably go with something a little multiclassy, Like and elven ranger rogue whose was raised and trained by his parents in the family business of tracking down and "acquiring" stolen property. Disapeared in the Greenbelt, but I will look into it after I get some sleep (I work midnights)

So yeah, thinking I am gonna go goblin alchemist with this. Winged marauder and grenidier archetypes. Because reading a alchemy book is ok if it is to kill the tall folk for reading. Focusing on bombs and buffing my condor for combat.

Yes that would be better. The rolls do not actually help so yes. reroll is better.

I did it! Derren's crunch is once again legal. I think. It depends on whether or not GM Calvus allows Heirloom Weapon to count as proficient with Dueling Swords for purposes of feats.

500 gp starting gold?!? Sounds like I've got some spending to do yet. :)

In light of that news, there will be a few changes to the equipment of my submission.

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path Subscriber

Gonna roll some stats, see whether I can come up with a concept that fits them:

4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 4) = 20

4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 6) = 16

4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 1, 2) = 13

4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 2) = 10

4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 3, 6) = 13

4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 2, 6) = 16

Gah. I just finished creating my character, come in to post, and I have 350 more gp to spend! Guess it's time to get that pony I always wanted...
