Bah I had a longer intro post but of course the Paizo forums ate them.
I added the opening boxed text to the gameplay thread, feel free to do in character intros there as well as ask Shelia/Ambrose/The Decimverate questions.
As a reminder I will be gone this weekend at NukeCon in Omaha. I would like sheets to be finalized on Monday so we can get started in earnest then.
If you all could take a moment to introduce yourself (not your character) in this thread, that would make me happy.

In the interest of making the GM happy (always a good thing), I am John R. from Missouri (aka GMAarvid on these boards) and I am looking forward to playing this as my final adventure for Hugo. I am currently wrapping up 3 other PBP adventures I have been running.
Ezrek Filosten |
I am Jeremy Chapman and the current Venture-Lieutenant for southern Indiana, and know both Hugo and Baltar (I was in Baltar's God's Market Gamble PbP last year as Ryster). As I said in recruitment, I have no problem letting the party decide if they want a Lvl 8 in the party. I don't intend this to be Ezrek's final adventure.! :)
Hugo Victor |
As the saying goes..."You do not need to run faster than dire bear, just faster than the 8th level Alchemist with you!" (sorry Ezrek, could not resist!) LOL
Glad to have you aboard.
Liam L'Outre |
Hi, I Perry, I judge regularly in Chicago at our collection of Game shops. Interesting fact, I was born in Missouri and my hometown is close to Evansville, IN on the Southernmost tip of Chicago.
I started playing PF about 1.5 years ago, though my first RPing experiences were on forums. Liam is my first character, I have several others, and I've never had to rez him, hopefully I can keep that going haha.
Liam's Tactics.
Liam has high initiative and perception +9 and +17 respectively, so I spot ambushes often and am ready to fight out the gate.
I like to close as quickly as possible, and my 40 speed means I do so pretty well.
That said, I also understand the importance of buffs and casters getting off some big shots before melee begins, so if any of you are blasters by design, just let me know and I'll ask someone to tap me first round with my wand of enlarge before I move in.
I like to use Dazing assault, which hopefully can take a few turns away from anyone I'm squared up against.
When I am focused on just damage, my 1-handed power attacks aren't overwhelming but they are effective, with my blows dealing 1d8+17 against non-baned targets and 1d8+19+2d6 against my baned targets.
look forward to finally playing with Tarandor instead of being on opposite sides of the screen as him. and Look forward to playing with the rest of you.
Pirate GM |
As a reminder I am disappearing over the weekend to go to a Con. I am leaving midday Friday and will be returning Monday afternoon. Feel free to continue rp/questions though or take the weekend off.

Ah, but this Alchemist has wings in order to fly out of the grasp of said dire bear. He'll wave and toss potions of haste down to you. :)
Hugo Victor |
You forget that Hugo is a travel cleric with fly, dim door and teleport. :-)
Looking forward to this. My biggest problem last time (with near TPK) was my group was all casters and had no front liner. If Hugo is swinging a Greatsword on the front line...we have bigger problems...dire bear or no. LoL
Liam look like he will fill that role nicely.
Pirate GM |
Just to make sure I've got it right.
We ended up with:
Scott Nolan - Fetch - Ranger9/Cavalier1
Josh McIllwain - Baltar - Cleric 11 (Has GMed it)
John Rutoski - Hugo - Cleric10/Ranger 1 (Has played it?)
Jeremy Chapman - Ezrek -Alchemist 8
thomas sleeper - Malinor -Archer 10
Perry Littrell - Liam L'Outre - Figher 10 (Has GMed it)
John Rutoski, your description sounds like you've played it already, so does that mean you're using your GM * to replay?
Scott, Jeremy, thomas: Am I correct that you are unfamiliar with the adventure other than all the crazy rumors about Runelords, 14th level spells and being teleported into the sun.
Hugo Victor |
I have not played it. I have played almost all the others of this series with Hugo. I was referring to the prior mod in the series. I apologize for the confusion.
Liam L'Outre |
Wife's in labor having my baby be on in a day or two
Hugo Victor |
Congrats! Your first?
Liam L'Outre |
I'm ready to go again :D
Hugo Victor |
Ready to go. Do we need to add any of the "borrowed" items like the spear or shards to our list or just state which ones we take?
Ezrek Filosten |
Ezrek is ready as he's going to be. Sorry for the delay. I had four GM credits applied and have been second guessing myself in how to spend the 26k plus gold.
Upgrade Mithral Chain from +1 to +2- 3000
Upgrade Cloak of Res. +1 to +2- 3000
Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier- 5000
Admixture Vial- 5000
Clear Spindle Ioun Stone- 4000
Elemental Gem (Earth)- 2250
Boro Bead 1st Level (x2)- 2000
Potion of Cure Serious Wounds- 750
Crafted Various Alchemicals- 500 gp apprx
Ezrek uses his Hybridization funnel to combine various alchemicals, listed in char sheet.
Liam L'Outre |
Jingasa is always a good buy.
Pirate GM |
As a note we will be using the new secondary success conditions chart to determine prestige earnings. Most of the faction missions for this scenario are defeat Krune anyway so there's not really much loss.
That said The Silver Crusade mission actually comes with some possibly useful intel which I will gladly share if we have any PCs from the Silver Crusade.
Pirate Rob |
As a completely off topic note I just wanted to share the photostream of my Bones mini painting. I've got a lot to go, but I'm getting there.
Hugo Victor |
Very nice. I did not realize bones were out already. Not sure why I was thinking next year for some reason.
Liam L'Outre |
Huzzah! Hugo, Huzzah!
Hugo Victor |
Well it looks like something finally worked. :)
Need to pincushion her before she gets it back.
Hugo Victor |
Fletch, definitely worth checking. When I saw your bow attack number was almost the same as Hugo's with his crossbow, and you said favorite enemy, have higher dex, Full BAB, etc. You should be closer to Molinar's numbers than Hugos. :-)
P33J |
Fletch: +10 for BAB
+1 for Weapon Enchantment
+2 for Favored Enemy
+3 for Dex
You're at 16 there.
The creature, if it was close enough to attack you with AoOs while you shot, would have also been within point blank range.
So that's +1, so you're up to +17
Your character stat block only has your attack bonus without any modifiers from Favored enemy at +12, you should be at least +13 due to your +10 BAB and you're +3 Dex. Throw in the +1 for your bow enchantment and you're now at +14. With no feats, no class features putting you any higher.
Pirate GM |
I don't think it would have made a difference here, she still had about 80hp when you begun firing. Will be good to check it out for the future though.
"Fletch" |
Solved the problem of Fletch's bad math. I had clicked the wrong strength maximum in Hero Lab for his composite longbow.
His Int drain is up-to-date, too.
Pirate GM |
Hi everybody, I just wanted to take a minute to check in, see if everybody's having fun and make sure nobody's getting left behind with the fast pace. (>15 posts/day average in the gameplay thread)
As evidenced by the first fight this scenario is more dangerous than normal but I think you guys have the tools to handle it. That said, there are plenty of scary things to come.
Hugo Victor |
I am good with it as long as you do not mind me waiting to post until at home before or after work. Good fun so far and nobody dead yet. :-)
Ezrek Filosten |

I'm having fun, though this one has me on the edge my seat. I haven't been this nervous since I played Bonekeep. Thanks for reinforcing my fears. ;)
Pirate GM |
Game is going along plenty fast, I was just worried that those of you who can't post multiple times during the day might be feeling marginalized by missing out on some of the action.
Liam L'Outre |
Yeah, I'm excited. I think GMing it previously has me even more on edge than if I didn't know what was coming haha.
Ezrek Filosten |
Life Runes- 27 pts/round Neg. Energy or 3 pts ability damage from poison/disease.
Control Rune- Servant Creature or Powerful Command
Alacrity Rune- Impede Speed/Mobility
Defense Rune- Batter or Shock damage
Armor Rune- Scorch, Tear, or Sabotage (already broken)
Pirate GM |
Thanks Ezrek. Beat me to it. I'm going to leave my post in gameplay and campaign info though.
Liam L'Outre |
I'll make an attempt with the Defense Rune and use that flail.
GM can we keep swinging until we break it or is it a one and done attempt?
Liam L'Outre |
Heads up. I'm going to be at Girl Scout Horse Camp (yay.) all weekend with my daughter. I'll have my iPad and will be able to post but it will be hit or miss until Sunday. I'll be available the rest of the day normal speed until 6.
Huzzah!
