Waking Rune

Starting early next month is the first official PbP game "day", where a bunch of groups are starting PFS PbPs at the same time, there will be boons given out, and all sorts of fun things.

I will be running #4-26 The Waking Rune

Blurb:
After a year of searching and risking life and limb, the agents of the Pathfinder Society have discovered the resting place of the Runelord of Sloth, who has been sequestered from the world at large for 10,000 years awaiting the proper time for his return. Thanks to the efforts of the sinister cult of Lissala, that time is now. In a desperate attempt to defeat this ancient evil once and for all, the Decemvirate sends its best agents, armed with relics found throughout ancient Thassilon, to foil the cult's last-ditch efforts to usher in a new era of tyranny and strife. Will the party succeed in preventing Krune's return to Golarion, or will the Pathfinder Society serve simply as a speed-bump in the runelord's path to domination over the entire region?

To play you must sign up using Warhorn. After which, cheking in here before hand so we can get started ASAP would be appreciated.

About Me:
I am a 3star PFS GM who's run a few pbps and played in close to 10. In addition to my ~65 slots GMed I have also played in about 150 total. I'm from the Bay Area but am currently living in Iowa

What I expect from you:
You should have a PFS character level 7-11 with a character sheet that's easy for me to access. (Pregens are legal, however due to the above average difficulty of this scenario I would not recommend their use.) On most weekdays you should be posting at least once a day most days. While I understand that real life happens I would very much appreciate the courtesy of a quick note if you're going to be unavailable.

What you should expect from me:
My occupation is currently homemaker so i have lots of free time during the day to post multiple times. I will be gone numerous weekends + Fridays as I travel around to various cons, but will keep you informed as to my schedule.

I am an experienced GM who has run this scenario multiple times and has spent close to 10 hours preparing it. That said, I will still make mistakes. If you do notice anything you think is wrong or even questionable please feel free to bring it up in discussion.

I will do my best to keep the game moving quickly and to be as fun as possible. I will not softball the challenges, nor will I increase their difficulty, be prepared to live or die by your own skill and the roll of the dice.

As always if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Liberty's Edge

This is Fletch, Tarondor's ranger. I need to update the character a bit, adding in boons, but he's substantially ready to go.

Fletch is a Switch-Hitter ranger. He'll be doing a combination of ranged and melee attacks. His large-sized wolf, Romulus, will be mixing it up in melee. Not a lot of surprises with Fletch.

Grand Lodge

Hello from Hugo - travel cleric of Abadar. This will be Hugo's final mod before retirement. I have enjoyed this series, so looking for a great finale'

Grand Lodge

Checking in!

I don't have my character sheet uploaded to my profile yet, but I will shortly. Looking forward to play this (finally!)

Thanks for checking in, we won't be doing anything real until at least the 5th so take your time getting yourself together.

Speaking of the 5th I will be away at NukeCon starting on October 4th (Friday) and will not return until the 7th (Monday) so we're going to be a couple days late in getting started.

Nuke-Con, hunh? Say "hi" to the Godmom and the Omaha Cavaliers (if they still exist) for me. It is pronounced the way you expect to say "Houston". I moved to Texas. This will be the first Nuke-Con I've missed (while in this country) since '99, IIRC.

So, I was thinking about signing up for this module, but I have EXACTLY one character in the level range, and I've already signed him up for another event. I figure doing that should be legal, but that doesn't mean you'll find it acceptable.

The character is here, in case you are curious.

DANGIT! Boons? I forgot to go through his certs looking for Boons! Not tonight . . ..

Can't play a character in multiple scenarios at the same time. You could sign up for this with a pregen, but I don't recommend pregens for this particular scenario.

Drat.

Kinda harsh, given the timeline involved for choosing PBP. FtF multiple tables at once is simply not possible. PBP ties up a character for about 1/4 of a year under that rule.

Ah, well.

Oh, and I pretty much don't recommend the pre-gens ever.

<snicker> Half of the table I am signed up for is Level 5 characters, and the current party will have to play the APL 8 version of the module.

I have offered to "step away from that table" so that they can build a table which will allow the level 5s to play APL 6 instead, if they want.

I don't expect you to hold a slot for me while I find out their preference, but it could end up that this character isn't going to be playing that module anymore . . ..

Grand Lodge

So I'm GMing another game and I've GMed Waking Rune, but didn't put the credit toward this character.

Liam is a level 11 Fighter, Sword and Board, who is a Paladin in all but divine power ;).

He's both a tank and a guy who can deal significant damage, with Dazing Assault and Sickening Critical to go with my Improved Crit longsword to cause some shut downs. My touch AC is high (20), My AC is 34 my saves are high (none below +10). I have a Bead of Protection From Toad (counters 1 Baleful Polymorph attempt)

He has a Bane Baldric to add a little eff you to any BBEGs.

And his to-hit is +23 (+20 for Power attack, +15 for Power Attack and Dazing Assault (DC 21 Fort or lose a round, got to make a save every time I hit you).

I automatically confirm against Evil (thanks to the potions of bless weapon I drink like water), which Sickens them no save.

I have Taxfest Boon for Good Hope.

I have Year of the shadow lodge boon for 3 combat rerolls.

I have the 2 boon which makes Lissalan's scared of me (+4 to my intimidate checks vs Lissalans).

And I didn't despoil myself with any of those profane marks. Though I'm not judging those of you who did (much)

That said, I noticed this has 2 Clerics and 1 Ranger with a lower level Alchemist. Do you guys want a heavy hitter frontliner with no magical abilities other than his weapons or would you rather me hold back and let you get a few Arcane casters?

Grand Lodge

Personally, I would be glad to have anyone ( strong melee or strong arcane) to help fill the table...not sure if we are better off playing scaled for 4 or push for a full table of 6. Either way, becoming a Risen is a possibility based on past experience with this series.

Sczarni

Are you "pirate rob" or a different pirate?

Sczarni

I've got an lvl 8.3 wizard I was thinking about bringing. He can handle traps and is also conjuration focused with pits, orbs, and other fun spells to control with.

I am, you have found the right place, remember you will need to sign up on Warhorn.

Based on the Warhorn we have so far:

Scott Nolan - Fetch - Ranger9/Cavalier1
Josh McIllwain - Baltar - Cleric 11
John Rutoski - Hugo - Cleric10/Ranger 1
Jeremy Chapman - ? -Alchemist 8
thomas sleeper - ? -Archer 10
Adam Bjelica - ? - Ranger 8

Also a couple other people from thread, I'm not sure if they line up with the Warhorn or not.

Dark Archive

My characters name is Malinor. He wears mithril full plate with spiked gauntlets and has two quivers on his back. He is Chelaxian and his face is pretty scarred up. He also doesn't seem to pay attention to a lot of what goes on around him.

I shoot things. I shoot them very well.

Posting daily will not be a problem. My character is on Dropbox. I can share him with you or send you the excel form. I got tired of printing endless character sheets and so now I use excel versions for games off of my ipad.

Alright, Adam will not be joining us and Jeremy Chapman expressed some reluctance to play up in this particular adventure so I believe we will be going with 4.

The scaling for this adventure is actually quite helpful so I do not believe only having 4 instead of 6 will be a major disadvantage.

As for character sheets, I am happy to either have them in your Paizo profile for your character or accessible via link from your posts by using one of the top fields, say race. and including a link to your character sheet there. That way I can easily access it from your posts.

The Exchange

Hey there. This is Jeremy Chapman. Ezrek is finishing a PbP and needs to have some GM credit applied and updated. Definitely the low man here, Ezrek is a Cryptbreaker, so has Disable and a few other skills. Hopefully he will be able to contribute and not slow down all these 10/11s.

Edit: Ha ninja'd! I had planned on coming in, but if the scaling seems beneficial, I won't fudge that up for you guys.

Oh hey apparently I spoke to soon. I think your skills may be more helpful to the group than the 4 player scaling. I can't guarantee your safety but I'm happy to have you and I imagine the rest of the group will be as well.

I've added a discussion thread and will be posting useful information there soon.

Also I know some people mentioned some familiarity with the scenario. I do expect you to play dumb when appropriate (mostly the middle section) and don't object I would like to know the how at least.

Have you previously GMed it? Using a GM * Replay? Read through it for fun? Read the GM prep thread? Sat in a room while another table got crushed?

Also I presume we are not playing hard mode unless you guys all unequivocally tell me you want it. (There are no extra rewards, just the potential for glory and lots of horrible flaming death.)

Grand Lodge

If I stole anybody's spot I'm happy to give it back. I signed up basically as an alternate if someone decided they didn't want to play. I will have to be one of the guys who plays dumb, and just let my rolls make my decisions for me when things pop up that require something other than swinging a sword.

Also, I'd like to ask two quick questions.

My character sheet is available on myth-weavers and I'll be doing some updating because I only use that sheet when I'm playing virtual table tops. Do you need to see my chronicle sheets? I have those and can scan them but if its not necessary or if you only want to see the sheets that have particular boons, I'll do that as well.

Grand Lodge

I've ran it before, but I am very good at playing dumb... especially with this character. :)

You haven't taken anyone's spot and we're happy to have you. (We had a player drop once they realized they couldn't play in two games at once.)

As I mentioned earlier regarding character sheets

I don't see any need to make you scan all your chronicle sheets, if later something weird comes up that I'm not familiar with I may ask to see a particular sheet but I'm happy to cross that bridge if/when we come to it.

As a reminder to all I would like character sheets available and finalized by Monday.

Grand Lodge

A PFS judge after my own heart.

Grand Lodge

I forgot to post last night, but my character sheet is in my profile now. Let me know if you need anything else, Pirate Rob.

Liberty's Edge

So Mr. GM, Sir, I have a question.

At GenCon last year, I got a boon that requires me to first make a Knowledge (local) or Diplomacy check once per scenario when I am in a large population center.

Are you willing to let me do that? It doesn't require your signature, just your GM's number.

Thanks,

Fletch / Tarondor

The briefing takes place in Magnimar, go ahead and make your check.
BTW is it the one about finding your mentor?

Liberty's Edge

Yup! And I've found 3 of the necessary 5 clues.

Turns out I no longer really need to roll. Take 10 will do it.

Knowledge Local (DC 15): 10 + 13 = 23

Can you tell me your PFS #, please?

15001

Dark Archive

My character sheet is in my Profile. Let me know if I need to do anything else.
