I can deal with that. I will update later on.
I did not remember virtual gearing or ABP. I will take a look at things and see what I am missing.
:)
In other news, I will be out of town this weekend, and though I did not put much contribution into the last bit of RP possibilities, I will try to stay involved while I am in Minnesota.
Ezechias |
Awesome news about the gearing! That said...
Apologies for the lack of posting for the past two days, I've moved into a new apartment and my ISP still hasn't restored my connexion. I'll do my best to post from my phone in the meantime, but if I need to be botted, please do so. Sorry about the inconvenience!

Wayfinder does make things easier =^^=

Ezechias |
Depends. I like using it to read posts while not at home, or make short replies, but I hate typing long posts with it, or posting actions for a fight which I can't see the map for. It has its uses!

Ezechias |
Just to clarify, what's the current total value of our gear at this level?
-Posted with Wayfinder
Chakat Hellstrider |
aaah. then with that i can get better armor =^^=
Ezechias |
Sorry, ISP issues still not solved and couldn't access the map from home.
Gear for level 2 (1000 gp total):
Mwk Splint Mail (350 gp)
Mwk cold iron scimitar (330 gp)
Heavy Steel Shield (7 gp)
Alchemist's Fire *2 (40 gp)
Holy Water *2 (50 gp)
Paladin's Kit (11 gp)
Holy Symbol, Silver (25 gp)
Potion of Cure Light Wounds (50 gp)
Oil of Bless Weapon (50 gp)
Total: 813 gp
Also, can we pool resources to get a wand of infernal healing (750 gp)? If we all contribute, it wouldn't be that much (around 110 gp each).
Chakat Hellstrider |
Happy with that, still had about 200 coin left after i upgraded my armor
lavdi |
I honestly don't think that Iavdi would listen to any such call for nonlethal.
They have obviously been tainted by the ideas of Chaos itself; when faced with an infected arm, sometimes the best solution is to cut it off.
Unless you intend on taking these men prisoner and delaying our mission?
Kevroth |
Life is a whirlwind sometimes...
Sorry for the delay in my stuff. Can we use the crafting prices when we are paying for gear as we level up if we have the appropriate skills?
Dragonofashandflame |
@Ezechias: yes you can pool resources to buy a wand. You can even buy a wand at reduced charge for a similar reduction in price.
@Kevroth: yes, but make the rolls and all that stuf (we're using unchained craft, so you should be easier) big stuff like armor and whatnot will probably take time.
About the possibility of redeeming the soldiers: I think that's a very sensible question, Iavdi, and certainly in-character for Iavdi. What WOULD you do with 10 human soldiers? However, it IS possible to redeem them, I suppose, id someone tried to talk them down
D'hara |
I'm pretty confident that D'hara could cowl them into submission, but it would take time. She doesn't diplomacy but she does have a +15 to intimidate humanoids. She'd probably be even scarier with Iavdi and Hellstrider on her flanks ready to charge into their ranks.
It generally takes more than one poor choice of action to condemn a person, so it's entirely possible these men are redeemable. The battle between good and evil, and I'd wager between law and chaos as well, is often fraught with many struggles and mistakes.
Besides, it would probably shine in our favor to return with a squad of recruits for the Commander. We know the enemy could have shock troops. May as well get some of our own. They could eventually even become someone's Leadership followers some day.
lavdi |
Thinking from the perspective of being in character for Iavdi, he'd most likely, given ample time, see these corrupted heretics burn for their crimes. He actually did just receive a new toy that he needs to test out...
But I can see why the Redeemer Paladin wants to attempt to redeem them, and I'm not sure I want to create actual party conflict this early, but Iavdi legitimately doesn't see the effort and time needed to even attempt to turn these fallen souls (which might not even be possible, unless you count the expertise of the Rack as something to be relied upon) as worth it, especially since we have been given an important mission directly from the acting Hellknight commander.
[back in Iavdi's mind] If the majority of the group expresses their desire to intentionally become less effective at combatting this manifestation of chaos in an effort to save these few bodies, then fine. Iavdi will go along with it. But he will still advocate for their execution should they falter in their redemption, and he will not be held responsible for any actions they commit while under the Hellknights'..."care".
lavdi |
Besides, it would probably shine in our favor to return with a squad of possible recruits for the Commander.
We have no way of determining how long it will take to free them from their crazed state, or if it is even possible.
Also, definitely love how none of the focus is on the woman. From Iavdi's point of view, we are simply preventing a crime from taking place, stopping the spread of chaos, and do not care who the victim was, or how she fares afterward.
Go Team Hellknight!
D'hara |
I feel like the crazed state is more desperation than enchantment or corruption, but I could be wrong.
I don't think it would take us much longer to try to convert the soldiers than it would to kill the soldiers. I think we're only talking about minutes. Any longer and we just move on.
Perhaps Iavdi could be convinced that punishing the soldiers at the Fort may prove to inspire others to not follow down the same path. Once we get them to the Fort, it's really up to the Commander what happens to them.
I imagine this is going to be the first of many incidents where the group of 5 evil/neutral characters differ with what the paladin has in mind, but it's a good chance to role play difficult issues and I for one am enjoying the opportunities.
D'hara has about 200 gp to contribute to a party fund.
lavdi |
I wasn't talking specifically about us, doing it right now.
I meant the time that other Hellknights back at theFort have to dedicate to doing so, instead of fighting out in the Worldwound.
But you're most likely right, adding these creatures' skulls to the top of the wall after burning them publicly would be quite useful.
In case you couldn't tell, Iavdi is definitely the stereotypical "witch hunt" type. But not the ones that destroyed the Crusade before this one; he actually cares about what they did to deserve death, and this (abandoning the fight to get what they want from this woman) looks like a crime punishable by death to him.
Edit: I actually have to do Iavdi's new gear calculations, but I'll try to leave some for the wand. Why Infernal Heaing, though?

@ Dragons - Can I begin crafting a pair of Mastercrafted Primal Iron Kukri? Mainly the question is in regards to the Primal Iron. Base cost is 324 gp each.
Kevroth's level 2 equipment will consist of the following:
MC Armored Coat 200gp
MC Cold Iron Dueling Sword 340gp
Attempting to craft by Kevroth. Per Unchained Crafting, Flawless Cold Iron keeps the DC down to 20.
Craft (Weapons): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 2 = 9.
Assuming that a failed check equals full price.
MC Cold Iron Kukri 127gp
Crafted by Kevroth. Per Unchained Crafting, Flawless Cold Iron keeps the DC down to 15.
Craft (Weapons): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 4 + 2 = 17.
Cost is (308/4)+(100/2) = 127. Did I do that correctly?
MC Thieves' Tools 100gp
Longbow 100gp
Explorer's Outfit 0gp
Quiver of Arrows 1gp
Silver Unholy Symbol 25gp
Backpack 2gp
Bedroll 1sp
Grappling Hook 1gp
Iron Pot 8sp
Mess Kit 2sp
Pitons (10) 1gp
Silk Rope (50 ft.) 10gp
Trail Rations (5 days) 2gp 5sp

@Kevroth, gonna say no on the primal iron. It's 3pp, and i ahve weird aversions to 3pp. it chaffs me so.
Dragonofashandflame |
If there are any survivors.. (either because they're all knocked out, or because they yield), you can use the coerce opponent option for intimidate. Basically, you spend 1d4x10 minutes ... convincing... these guys that they're better off doing what you say. They become cowed and they do what you say for a week.
you could then use these guys as, well.. cannon fodder, or give them to Nebarius for punishment. Whichever seems more appropriate.

Fair enough. I didn't see that it was 3pp; I generally try to avoid that stuff as well.
Ezechias |
So did we purchase that healing wand? Who agreed to contribute? I'm counting Dhara and Iavdi (as well as myself) so far. Any others?
@Iavdi: I'm sorry I didn't see your question earlier. I've chosen infernal healing not only because it is very thematically linked to the Hellknight cause, but also because it has by far the best ratio hp healed per charge (10 per charge). It's the absolute best for out-of-combat, though CLW does a better job during combat.
Dragonofashandflame |
Sure, you crushed the demons, in front of Fort Nebarious.
You were sent out to find the Librarium and find something that could help in the battle against the Worldwound.
Then, you found some crusaders who were driven mad by the conflict and were trying to sheathe their swords in a virgin (that's not a euphemism, they actually were trying to coat their blades in her blood) for power against the demons. You put a stop to that.
Now, you're at the Librarium. There's a crusader in the building with some tieflings and town guards who have cornered some of the scholars in there and plan to do some very not nice things.

Congratulations! Welcome to the club of the sleepless parents (tm). Now you'll be keen to post your combat action in the middle of the night, just after feeding your baby kid. ;)

I am fine with that plan. Hopefully Faxon is not going anywhere...
Giosue Rhigetti |
So Darsanaga hasn't gotten back to me. I gave him a week, and this has been one. I have a person lined up to fill his spot. So. perhaps, we should head back to the Fort, resupply (and refresh spells) before tackling the Tower of Estrod?
Giosue is pretty low on magic.
Ren Satele |
Hello All ^_^,
I am Ren Satele, bard and hunter extraordinaire, played by Niertis. I've been informed that you are in need of a replacement for Darsanga. After discussions with a mysterious Dragon of Ash and Flame, I have offered my, and my companion Dathna's, assistance. We patiently await you at the Fort.
