Kikinnin remains where he is, caught off-guard by the next fireball in the other room. He's going to assume that it was completely warranted, considering the solid work it wrought against his current room's denizens.

Marigold emits another squeak of surprise as webs suddenly streak past her and stick against the wall. She quickly offers Maxim another bit of guidance and steps back out of direct line of sight to the...things, whatever they are.

And then as another blast of fire rocks the cavern, she gulps and eyes the ceiling nervously.

Let's just hope he doesn't bring the whole place down on us!

Marigold hits Maxim with Guidance again and then steps back out of the doorway.


Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Juraan quickly makes another bead descend the cavern tunnel after Maxim's alert.
Ref Blue DC 14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Ref Purple DC 14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
As the bead hits the floor it explodes liberating another hell of flames that engulf both creatures and start burning more webs around the place.
The area covered by the explosion is not affected by the web sticky strings anymore.

Kikinnin is kept stuck in the webs while Marigold touches Maxim for extra guidance.

Ryan tries again to burst the webbing securing him but unfortunately can't seem to get leverage on them. turning to ask Kikinnin for help see's he is caught as well. Feeling the heat from Jurraans's third fireball behind him Ryan tries to turn and face what ever is coming.

Round 5

If nothing is pressing Ryan aims a glob of acid at the biggest bunch of webs securing him, trying to weaken them.

Acid Splash(RT DC5): 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
DMG: 1d3 ⇒ 2 Acid disappears at beginning of Ryan's next turn


Iron Gods: Iron maps;

When JJ attempts to move closer to the action, he suddenly gets into the trap of the webs.
Stuck and entangled. You can free with Escape artist DC 26, break DC 32, or dealing 12 hit points with DR 5/-. Can also be disabled with disable device DC 22 for each 5-foot square.

Ryan fights with the webs without success.

The humanoid creatures still screaming because of the extreme heat, spit webs at Maxim and Juraan.
Web vs Maxim (touch, cover): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Web vs Juraan (touch, cover): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Maxim hides behind the wall and his web hits the cavernous rock, but Juraan is not that lucky and one of the webs take him and sticks the professor to the ground rending him immobile.
Escape artist DC 15 or Strength DC 19 to break free (only DC 15 if is someone else who attempts to break it for you.
You are entangled meanwhile, you cannot move and have –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. Also, to cast a spell you must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

The creatures start then to shout out aloud in Common "Haroon! Sssssave usssss your sssssacred godnessssss! Ssssskaven issss right Haroon! We need your help!" while one of the creatures retreats to the inner caverns. Contrary to you, you can see it walks over the webs unimpeded.

Juraan then moves 5 ft to the left, to help get the others unstuck...

Maxim scowls at the creatures mulling their nature;

Knowledge (Dungeoneering) DC13: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

...then loads his pistol with a flare cartridge (Move Action);

"Ettercaps at our backs! Reckon they're pullin' the webbed strings o' our eight legged friends... About to light 'em up a little!"

The gun-mage raises his pistol and aims at the nearest spider-man (Blue).

As he pulls the trigger, the dwur charges the hand-gunne with arcane energy (Arcane Strike - Swift Action)

Ranged Touch: Pistol (+Bless+Guidance): 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 25

Damage: Flare Pistol Cartridge (+Arcane Strike): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 (If hit Blue Ettercap is blinded for 1 round; DC15 Fort save reduces this to dazzled.)

Round 6 - Conditions/Buffs: Bless (+1 to hit, +1 vs fear saves)

The gun-mage then shifts forward (5ft Step), reloads with a standard alchemical cartridge (Move Action), then aims and fires again at the same target (Standard Action + Swift Action for Arcane Strike)

Ranged Touch: Pistol (+Bless): 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 17

Damage: Pistol Cartridge (+Arcane Strike): 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Recognizing the aberrations, Maxim starts to shot bullets at them to keep them at bay.
Fort DC 15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
The first bullet comes with a sudden flash. The ettercap attempts to close his eyes, but starts to shout "Ahhh! The light... you brought the light, your evilnessssssss!"

JJ attempts to cut the strings but his assessment is not good enough and the main bulk of web still holds him tightly stuck to the ground.

Meanwhile, Juraan gets free of the webs with an heroic effort and looks around to help his companions.
Only strength might be used here. Bursting Kikinnin or Ryan's webs is a DC 12 Strength check, while helping JJ on the sticky trap requires a DC 28 Strength check

Maxim reloads his gun and takes a new shot on the ettercap. The aberration shouts in pain as his right arm is burst by the dwarven powder!

Kikinnin renews efforts to break from the spiders' webs, glad for the fire in other places, as it indicates that enemies are currently not among his companions, biting and pincing. Seeing Ryan both stuck and in his way, he gives up on his own webs, and cuts the priest loose. "Get out of my way, now that you're free, alright?"

As fire continues to be the most effective tool on their side, Marigold is hit with a flash of insight - she had her own fire she could throw. She carefully attempts to maneuver herself into a favorable position, but not before offering Maxim one last bit of guidance on his next shot.

Marigold will hit Maxim again with Guidance and then move one square to her current map position.

Kikinnin bursts Ryan's strings before focusing on himself.

Marigold touches Maxim offering him some more guidance on his attack.

While the shouts continue to raise deep in the caverns, the remaining ettercap, disoriented by Maxim's blast, touches the wall and clumsily looks for the protection of the cavern.

As the ettercap stumbles from his view, Maxim grimaces and moves into the webbed labyrinth (Move Action).

The gun-mage deftly picks his way through the webs, then when the creature comes in view he halts and loads his pistol with bullet and powder (Standard Action)

With a couple of acid castings Ryan melts down the webs holding Kikinnin.

JJ cuts again one string from a critical place, this time the maneuver is well executed and instantly collapses the webs around freeing the young man!

Juraan produces his wand and attempts to use it on JJ, but he is too nervous and the device fails.

Finally, Maxim moves through the corridor, expertly avoiding the tricky webs around. On the find of the blinded ettercap he stops to load his pistol.

The ettercap seems to recover his sight and steps over the webs with easiness to attack Maxim ferociously.

The mouth bites the dwarf franticly, then he gets his claw stuck for an instant from one web.

From the cavern deepness an enormous spider-like creature emerges looking at Maxim despised "Ssssso, you sssssay thessssse onessss are messsssssing with you Skaven? Do not worry then friend"

You do notice a couple of twisted jaws protruding from her mouth like harpoons. It is also totally covered in spines.
The creature is flanked by two ettercaps, one considerably damaged.

K. dungeoning DC 14:

This is a harpoon spider, a singular aberration from the Darklands. It has tremendous harpoons she can use to trip and catch enemies, and her poison reduces the agility of her victims. She is covered in spines that damage anyone attacking her without reach.

Kikinnin hacks to free Juraan, still unsure about what's breathing down Maxim's neck.

Strength Check DC 19: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

Round 7

Kikinnin moves through the less-stuck group, hoping to get a sense of what JJ's barking at Maxim about.

Reflex Save v DC 15: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

He moves to the opposite side of the hallway, and readies a swing on the first thing chasing Maxim back their way.

Readied Attack: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 1 = 13 for 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 damage

"Better do as JJ says, Maxim. Don't like the look of any of them."

Round 7

Reflex (DC 15): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

In an effort to clear some space in the cramped tunnels, Marigold manages to duck and weave her way through the remnants of the sticky webs and around her companions until she manages to reach JJ. Seeing him still injured, she reaches out and sends a small wave of healing through his body.

Cure Light Wounds (JJ): 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

MG moves to her current position and hits JJ with a CLW!

Round 8

Continuing to hear even more commotion from the direction of the other cavern, the halfling holds her ground and begins digging through her pack. After a moment, she triumphantly pulls out a small vial.

Juraan isn't the only one that can throw fire!

Marigold pulls out a flask of alchemist's fire.

Juraan tosses another one of the weaker fireball beads into the cave (K31),
trying to get both the blinded ettercap and the big spider thing (yellow),
without hitting Maxim.

damage: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 5) = 8 (2×3d6 and 1×7d6 fireballs left)

Didn't Juraan break out of the webs last turn or the turn before?
I used a hero point for an Escape Artist re-roll on that one.

As the new montrous foe arrives Maxim eyes it curiously;

The gun-mage bellows a warning to his companions;

"Hell's Teeth! Our new friend is a harpoon spider! Aberration o' the Darklands. Has harpoons that'll trip and skewer ye, so mind these and its pizen that'll slow ye down! Ware its spines when attacking..."

He then breaks from the combat, attempting to skip back through the ensnaring webbing;

DC15 Reflex Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

(Looking to move to aside Kikinnin. Am pretty sure I can't use my skill and do full round withdraw - intel for the party is more important methinks! Hence Maxim is moving back up the channel - provoking attack(s) of opportunity?

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

JJ and Kikinnin approach to Juraan for help but Juraan tells them it is all good.

Kikinnin moves to the start of the tunnel and readies himself to receive any aggressor.

Marigold navigates the sticky webs with halfling skill and touches JJ healing him of numerous wounds. She then prepares a flask of alchemist fire.

Maxim surmounts the ettercap's poison and realizing about the danger of the new enemy, retreats to meet the group.
Identifying is a free action, thus you can withdraw without problem

Juraan:

It is hard to think your light sources allows anyone but Maxim to see the new creatures. Also you have no line of sight and I believe you will not throw a ball without seeing where are your enemies.
I have no problem for you to ready an action though and will play it like that.

As soon as the harpoon spider enters the new chamber, Juraan activates his readied action and throws a bead into the fray. The bead detonates engulfing the ettercap and the hapoon spider into flames.

The explosion takes the large spider-like by surprise and bust its back.

As retaliation, the spider throws one of its harpoons to the first in the tunnel, Maxim.

The fang flies over and hits Maxim in the chest, hooking his flesh there and exuding a thick glue.
Quick as a lightening, the spider starts reeling back the harpoon.

Maxim feels a terrible pull, he fights to maintain stability but the harpoon finally makes him fall to the ground.

Sensing that things are going horribly wrong based on the yells and shouts from the others, Marigold tries to hustle back towards the other cavern...

Sorry guys! I got slept in the sofa while writing the last post yesterday night! I somehow managed to post something but it feels so confusing and incomplete. Sorry again!

When Kikinnin and JJ approach, the ettercaps at the back of the harpoon spider throw their web nets at them!
Web at Kikinnin-melee penalty (cover, touch): 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 6 - 4 = 4

One of the webs find only the cavern walls, but the other almost entangles JJ! He is protected by cover and Ryans channel.
Kikinnin@ although technically not possible to occupy the space of a non-helpless creature like Maxim now, I see the rule as anticlimax and poorly realistic, thus, I allow it in this case to position over a tripped companion

JJ fights with the ettercap around the corner of the cavern tunnel and even entangled succeeds to stab his sword in one of the beast eyes. The ettercap falls next to Maxim and the harpoon spider!

Juraan sends yet another bead behind the enemy lines. This one explodes with incredible fury taking all the enemies with a potent blast! You do hear the pain cries of an unseen halfling behind the spiders.

Maxim@ because Kikinnin gives you cover, you can grapple 5' as a full-action without generating an AoO. If you are ok with this we will position yourself behind Kikinnin

Kikinnin@ yes, it is a nasty special attack, free trip, reposition and bite, and... it can do it not once but TWICE in a round!

JJ continues his assault on the Ettercap, hoping to finish the smaller foe before having to deal with the horror of the giant spider and spell slinging halfilng.

Marigold gasps in horror as a new challenger appears from within the room and blasts Kikinnin with blistering rays of fire. Even with Juraan answering the volley with yet another explosive bead, she tries to fight down panic at seeing both dwarves in such a perilous state.

Think! What do we have that can...oh...OH!

Struck by inspiration, Marigold digs into her pouch and pulls out a scroll that she'd nearly forgotten about and begins to read...gesturing towards the back of the cavern where the enemy halfling surely hides.

Marigold pulls out her scroll of Silence and casts it, directed towards the back of the cavern. DC 15 (I believe) Will save to resist. Man, this is when being a Life oracle would come in handy...

Partially restored, he debates what he can do, given the layout of the battlefield. Something nags at him, itches beneath his skin, as he tries to ignore something tingling his nerves. He shakes it off, for now, stepping towards the harpoon spider.

Ryan moves forward with Marigold, past her and kneeling down beside Maxim. (In the protected square) Healing Maxim from his brush with death.

Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 8) + 3 = 13 spontaneously converting Bulls Strength

" That should help", he says to himself about Maxim before he hears Kikinnin's bellow, " Damnable spiderkin"

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

Without hesitation Juraan bombs again the cavern, more webs blasting, flames taking spiders and halflings alike!
Ref vs harpoon DC 14 (evasion): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Ref vs green DC 14: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Ref vs unknown DC 14: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

In an heroic effort to save the day, Juraan casts a spell at the same time the bead explodes. Two missiles of force burst into the halfling! The spider shouts while the flames still burn it "Ssssskaven!!!"

JJ connects a hit with his sword on the ettercap as it is still burning on Juraan's flames. The ettercap cannot hold any longer and falls to the ground unconscious.

The young boy sidesteps changing the weight of his body to the left leg and connects a second hit on the harpoon spider that gasps in surprise when one of its harpoons is cut!

While Marigold completes her spell, her scroll crumbles to dust and a sudden silence takes the area behind the spider.
Skaven Will DC 15: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Marigold can feel the spell fails taking the caster's voice.

LoH Kikinnin: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Kikinnin's prayers receive a swift response, some of his burns disappearing all of a sudden. He then steps further closer to the spider and brings the axe down on the other harpoon. Deprived of its harpoons the spider starts to shake terribly in pain and finally collapses with all its legs up.

Ryan moves next to Maxim and calls for a healing prayer. Maxim wounds fully disappear.

"No! You took Haroon!" Skaven looks at Kikinnin as he talks "I will cut your beard and make a ritual to curse all your clan dwarf!"

The halfling turns then to JJ "And you youngster, you will pay for attacking the Ebon Triad with your death!" with a few more gestures and arcane words he finishes a spell.

JJ:

A huge demon with bull horns, wolf face and crank pincers is summoned by Skaven and jumps over you, cutting your weapons half then opening its jaws to eat you whole!

All others:

A vague shape forms in Skaven hands and fly up to JJ like a cloud!

JJ@ this is a phantom killer pointed at you. Will DC 18 to disbelief. If you fail, For DC 18 or die of fear. Remember Kikinnin's aura of courage gives you a +4 vs fear, which applies to both saves and supersedes the bless bonus.
If fail to disbelief but succeed the For save, you take this damage: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) = 12

Skaven moves back and disappears behind the walls of the cavern.

Remember the red area in the map is clean of webs thanks to firefall

JJ's heart beats faster and faster, impossibly fast. His chest starts to feel heavy and he slips to the ground. The very last thought on his mind was that of the lovely Celeste...

Great time for crap rolls, can I burn a hero point for the extra +4 bonus please?

You can take a +2 which is enough to save JJ, but actually checking your traits you have a +2 vs death effects, rendering the hero point as no needed
When you think the demon is up to finish you, the vision seems to get impress at hearing the Surabar surname. Your family sword shines and the demon rears, stares at you and says "You cannot hide from me. All the Surabars must die" while it fades.
Your heart still pumping hurts from the intense emotion.

You do observe JJ using his sword to protect himself from something. Then all stops and the young boy stands on foot, holding his heart in terrible pain but alive.

JJ, in terrible pain, turns his gaze on the halfling and with a determined look on his face starts forward.

I'd already rolled and added up Kikinnin's first Lay on Hands, but I'll gladly add on your lovely roll for Kikinnin's second Swift use of Lay on Hands this round :)

Kikinnin moves as fast as he can, in pursuit of Skaven the Craven. Seeing something pass from the halfling to the boy, the black-beard fails to understand what exactly occurred, but hears JJ's exclamation, so understands enough. He wants to end Skaven, and quickly. Double Move

Marigold blinks as she sees a strange shadowy cloud zip from the halfling's hands to JJ, her expression quickly shifting to alarm as JJ seems momentarily stricken by something she can't perceive. But then the moment seems to pass and though her friend does look worse for the wear somehow, she can't see any physical wounds on him.

Whatever that halfling did, he's dangerous. Who IS he?

Reflex (DC 15): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Not about to allow JJ or Kikinnin to get too far ahead of her she races down the rest of the tunnel, ducking past the last remnants of webbing before emerging into the second cavern - thankfully devoid of webs due to Juraan's explosive antics.

Spotting her friends in hot pursuit of the fleeing halfling, she hurries after them as well.
