Talingarde Must Fall!.....Lucendar's WotW Campaign (Inactive)

Game Master Lucendar

1 to 50 of 118 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

The cold air whips past you, as you wrap your cloak tighter around your neck, the pale moonlight glistening off the sea. As you look around, you wish you had time to admire the beauty of the scene…but you don’t! The smell of fish reminds you that you stand in front of the Dunham Fishery warehouse on the North docks, fast approaching midnight. It will be soon now or at least that’s what the message said. Your eyes scan your surroundings, especially the three other strangers not further than 30 feet from you, all waiting for the same thing you imagine. Your hand does not stray from the grip of your weapon or spell, watching out for the agents of Mitra or evidence of a set-up, though the docks are abandoned at this time of night, except for you and the three strangers. Perfect meeting place then for what you need...more like, desperately need! The law is after you and closing in quick. By the gods, how did your crime go so wrong? You were supposed to be miles away by the time they discovered your crime. How did you miscalculate so badly? It doesn’t matter now. The roads out of the city are cut off, the Knights of Alerion dispatching patrols desperately looking for you, not to mention the numerous bounty hunters looking to make some coin off your capture. Your residence has been ransacked and your so called friends/acquaintances have forsaken you, seeking to save their neck at your expense. This is really your last resort, being smuggled out of the city by ship by the Night Masks, the only underground thieves’ guild in Talingarde. But as you palm your coin purse, you can tell it’s quite light. How will you ever negotiate passage with such few coins for what must be a costly trip? It does not matter, you managed to arrange a meeting and you can only hope for the best. Screw Mitra! You are a survivor and you will find a way! A cornered animal is at its most dangerous. Asmodeus will see you through! And for this reason, you still do not take your eyes off the strangers near you….

Welcome to my Recruitment for a Way of the Wicked (KoT) evil Campaign. If any of you know my style, I like to change things around with APs and modules. So I was thinking, why start in prison? How cliché! (No disrespect to author of fine module!) So this is my alternate beginning (different twist). You’ve committed the crime but have not been captured and you’re looking to escape the city. I like the sense of urgency it instills and how it gives the players more control. Hope you agree.

Please read: Player's Guide

Character creation rules:
1st level
25-point buy
Alignment: LE (must be able to play well with others)
2 traits (one must be from Player’s guide (crime committed) and again, you have not been apprehended)
Classes: All except paladin and summoner. Anti-paladins allowed.
Races: Core and Featured Races (except Drow) only
Gold: Average starting gold per class

What I’m looking for: 4-5 player group. Concept (statblock optional) with ties to Asmodeus and your reason for committing the crime (what went wrong? How do you feel about having nowhere to turn? Your immediate and long term plans if you got away?) Also list your posting frequency. Looking for creativity and flavor! Any questions, let me know.

Recruitment will close 1/16/14 at noon EST though I reserve the right to change the date, depending on how many applications I receive. Hope to hear from you!

The Exchange

So for clerics, is Asmodeus the only god they can worship?

As the Player's Guide states, for clerics worshiping Asmodeus is strongly encouraged.

The Exchange

Ok and are alignment requirements waived for other classes that aren't allowed to be lawful (say an Arcane Trickster)?

Dark Archive

I like your idea, Lucendar :) I'm not going to play, so I'll get back to lurking now.

Uncle Taco wrote:

You can be Neutral Evil if you wish, as long as you don't promote in-party mayhem/death. Same goes for barbarians and any other class now allowed to be lawful.

Dot! Could be fun, I've never played an Evil character before!

Oh man, I might have to give this a go. My IRL WotW game died just after escaping the prison ao this campaign would actually be perfect.
I do love evil campaigns...practical evil that is. I'm sure most of us have played with the other sort of evil character.

Not really sure what I'll play yet, maybe an Alchemist though. As it is sure to come up at some point, what are your thoughts on the Advanced Class Playtest Classes?

It's too bad most people dislike psionics as WotW would be the ideal place to try out Dreamscarred Press' Dread class.

Advanced Class Playtest classes are acceptable.

Ooh, I may come in on this... I do enjoy evil characters on occasion, and I liked the WotW game I was in for a bit (ended midway through the prison escape).

Rose was created for a WotW game that barely got started. In that time I really enjoyed playing her though.

She's an Aasamar Antipaladin who is basically what would happen if you took any of the characters from Mean Girls and mixed them with a Sith Lord. She's sugar coated arsenic.

Her backstory ties in directly with the setting and AP plot. Even her archetype is taken from the game.

Based on your specifications I think she's ready to go. Please tell me what you think.

Me as a player, I'm very reliable. Prolific, even. I'm on the boards constantly.

Lady Rose: The background is fine but those stats are a 45 point buy not 25, even with +2 Str and +2 Cha. :)

Sovereign Court

Very interested, here is a quick background. I will have character up this evening when I get home.

background:
Razul has studied fencing techniques for years. The ban against dueling has grated against him for for all of that time. He has sought out less than savory characters from pirates to races from the underdark to perfect his techniques. He has also participated in whatever illicit combats he could. His disdain for what he views as the weak leadership of Talingrade has made him disrespectful of its laws. After all, it is only right that the strong should rule the weak. The idea that some dirt turning farmer has any equality to him is ludicrous! Unfortunately for Razul, his last duel resulted in the death of his opponent. Not expecting any type of officials to be present, he was surprized by guards as he was collecting his winnings. The ensuing fight ended with the death of a couple of the guards and now Razul is fleeing.

I'm thinking about making a Abyssal Bloodrager with a couple levels of anti paladin, so sign me up! I'll have the character fully fleshed out within a couple hours, I'm playing a similar character in a PFS PbP so it shouldn't be too difficult. My posting frequency is more or less instantaneous, I have a lot of free time and will be checking back often.

Background:

Under the effects of a powerful shapeshifting spell gifted to him by his "father", known by many as the demon lord Haagenti, Atisael stormed a cathedral of Mitra and struck down the priest during a service. The crowd screamed with terror, most attempting to flee through the main doors as he desecrated the holy temple. After setting fire to the alter, Atiseal exited the burning cathedral greeted by dozens of guards as he opened the door, but he was prepared for this. He drew the second gift given to him by his father, a small potion of invisibility. Suddenly, a burst of bright energy struck Atisael from the heavens returning him to his true form and revealing him to the guards and everyone around him. Haagenti had failed him, and now the world knew what he had done and who he really was. The guards charged, but Atisael vanished before they could reach him. He fled to his home but the sound of heavily armored footsteps echoed through the alleyways, he had to escape the city and he knew there was only one group of people who could get him out. He had to contact the Night Masks

Hope thats not a little too over the top, it was the fist thing to come to mind.

Blodrage (6 rounds/day): A bloodrager can enter a bloodrage as a free action. While in a bloodrage, a bloodrager gains a +4 morale bonus to his Strength and Constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on Will saving throws. In addition, he takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase to Constitution grants the bloodrager 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the bloodrage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in bloodrage, a bloodrager cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.

Bloodline: Abyssal
Claws (Su): At 1st level, you grow claws. These claws are treated as natural weapons, allowing you to make two claw attacks as a full-attack action using your full base attack bonus. These attacks deal 1d6 points of damage each (1d4 if you are Small) plus your Strength modifier.

Fast Movement (Ex): A bloodrager’s land speed is faster than the norm for his race by 10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light armor, or medium armor, and while not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the bloodrager’s speed because of any load carried or armor worn. This bonus stacks with any other bonuses to the bloodrager’s land speed.

I would like to submit Lord Black. Urban Druid.

Background:
It was a night of terror and revalation. Marcus had become lost in the Wild Woods and a storm of unnatural ferocity had descended on the ravine in which he sheltered. As lightning plied the area, he prayed for deliverence. First to the gods of the realm and then to whoever would hear his plea. His lamentations had no effect and indeed hail soon began to fall and the roar of a tornado approached. Grasping to whatever cover he could find he screamed with rage at the elements. Suddenly he felt a dark presence and a horned figure that offered him deliverence at a price. He must destroy the noble houses of the land.
That was five years ago. Marcus has grown into quite an attractive young lad. The dark figure still appears to him at night when the moon is dark and has taught him how to survive in the wilds, how to make the animals do his bidding, and most important what plants are poisonous. He was able to seduce several of the local girls into worshiping this dark diety, with him taking the title of Lord Black. While they worked on perfecting their skills at poisoning, Marcus worked to worm his way into the household of the local nobles. It worked, soon he gathered two of the local baron's daughters into his coven. This was his undoing however as his growing group attracted the attention of a band of witch hunters. They wiped out his group, killing all the non noble members, the two noble daughters have been sent to a nunnery. Although he escaped he is on the run and curious as to who sent him this message.

Alright, I think I have a decent concept going, but some of the flavor of it hinges on a question for the GM...

I'm looking at playing a Sorcerer who'll have the False Focus feat, and ideally, I want him to have an unholy tattoo of Asmodeus's unholy symbology. However, those cost 100 gp, 30 more than the sorcerer's average starting gold. Is there any way I could get such a tattoo, perhaps at a discounted price for it to be worth less regarding the feat or such? If not, that's fine--I'll rework the background and character a bit.

EDIT: Also, can I mix the Pit-Touched Wildblooded Bloodline with the Orc bloodline via the Crossblooded archetype? There are conflicting feelings on this, so it's best to get your take.

@Loup: I can reduce the price of the tattoo to 50 gp, but no to the other request. Not a fan of the cross-blooded archetype.

Ah, you are not! Alright, I'll probably go straight Pit-Touched then. That'll actually make some of the building easier in some ways, although it disrupts my ultimate plan a bit. Ah well, I'm happy with this as well. Should have something up later today!

New question as I'm rebuilding: would the Pit-Touched bloodline still count as the Infernal bloodline for the Tiefling's Fiendish Sorcery racial ability? I'm trying to decide between a Tiefling and a Human (although we have two angelkin aasimars already, it'd be interesting to have a bunch of them, play up the fallen angel theme...)

I would rule yes.

Dark Archive

I would like to sumbit my character Amanda Malburne, a former servant of the Church of Mitra who discovered that her birth was a result of a pact with Asmodeus her mother made and her divine magic was in fact granted by Asmodeus himself. This revelation turned her to become a loyal servant of Asmodeus and she infiltrated the church until her cult leader was captured and tortured, revealing her as an Asmodean servant. Her class is Inquisitor and she has the Infiltrator archetype. Her extended story is on her sheet.

Thanks Amanda for the application, and from a cursory glance, you're missing a feat. :)

EDIT: Just saw you took Dual-talent. Nvm!

Just realized i created the previously posted character with a 20 pb so ill end up redoing his stats slightly if im chosen to play.

Dark Archive

Are we using the +2 extra skill bonus per level rule? If we are I'll pick 2 more skills for my character.

@Amanda: What rule is that and where could I find it?

Dark Archive

Step 4 Pick Skills and Select Feats. The campaign recommends giving 2 extra skill points per level as the party will be highly self-sufficient and have the odds stacked against them.

Ah, you mean the campaign house rule. I thought you meant something else. Yeah, sure, that house rule will be in effect, but we can modify any characters upon selection in the OOC thread, but you can do so now as well.

Dot. Might make an antipaladin I've always wanted to try one but can never get selected in the evill games I apply for. SO here goes!

Alright I'm going to roll a fighter for a working toward assassin build. My crime will be Grave Robbery.

Oops, fixed that. The previous GM had an odd stat rolling system and I got lucky. Stats are per your specifications now.

I was in the same game as Rose before the GM vanished. I adjusted back down to 1, perhaps Rose and the GM here can help me fit in? Hound is a barbarian who is ready to serve as hatchetman to the leader.

Bane88's Ninja enroute to assassin PRC. Crunch pretty much done.

Name: Irra Shadowsong
Race: Gnome Female
Class: Bard (Illusion Specialist)`
Alignment: LE
Crime: Attempted Murder
Party role: Support, Secondary Casting
Backstory: A fellow at a bar was rude to Irra, so after he staggered out drunk, she cornered him in an alley and summoned all manner of frightful and horrific figures to torment and scare and scar the man; he had a heart attack, and nearly died, but soldiers and clerics came in time. He turned out to be higher-rank than she knew, and she was sent to prison for attempted murder.

More on backstory later.

Lady Rose wrote:

Unless I'm mistaken, it's a 30 pt build now instead of 25 (2 16s = 20, 2 14s= 10, rest cancel out).

Waiting on background and crime.

Dammit! Dex should be 12, not 14. I adjusted it in my point buy calculator, but somehow didn't adjust it on the sheet. Now it really is fixed.

16 x2 = 20
14 x1 = 5
12 x1 = 2
10 x1 = 0
8 x1 = -2

total 25.

Intelligence on sheet/profile still shows as 12 not 10 (27-pt build). LOL! Just reduce that to 10 and your build will be legal! :)

This is really getting old. I should not even attempt to do math number stuff while on nyquil...

Ok, now take a look at it. I know I will need to do an internal audit to fix all the derived numbers, but that will have to come later. Bringing a character back to level 1 and changing their attributes is more difficult than it seems like it should be.

Does Lady Rose need the services of a barbarian again?

Always. Rose loves a well trained and faithful dog.

(In the previous game, Hound did a great job pushing the game forward. Very reliable player.)

I sounds like an interesting take. I am currently running a couple of groups in this adventure, would that be a problem?

I am thinking a human cleric, no archetypes worshipping Asmodeus. I would be able to post once a day.

@Big OM: Not a problem if you're running the game currently. As I stated, I like to change published material to my liking.

I originally developed Lanarial for a WotW campaign that failed before we even got off the first floor! I have modified the stats to apply for other games, so would need to adjust them for this. I really want to play him as originally designed...here is the original background...

Story:
I have always been alone. I have always been an outcast. I have always been discarded. I have always waited…until now.

I was conceived from the lust of a “holy” priest of Mitra for my outcast elven mother; I was torn from her body when she could no longer conceal her shame and was stoned by the “righteous” Mitrans for her sinful ways. Yet somehow I survived. Discarded, thrown away, I lived. I was given to the church orphanage, where I was never allowed to forget my sinful mother nor my unworthiness of the food, clothes, and shelter I received. I was beaten, ignored, taunted, and used as slave labor for the Mistress and her staff at the orphanage. I was never allowed to learn what the other children learned. So I learned my own lessons…

I learned to fight. I learned to hide. I learned to disappear and strike from the shadows. At sixteen I killed my first person – a kitchen scullion who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It felt…liberating. For the first time in my LIFE I was in control. I decided the outcome. I controlled not only my fate, but the fate of someone else. It was glorious. And I knew what I was. Not an outcast – I was the hand of vengeance.

So here I sit in Branderscar, condemned of High Treason for almost killing my ‘father.’ I searched for years to determine who he was, and once found I plotted his death for months. I had the bastard in my sights - perfectly hidden on the roof with my old bow and a specially crafted arrow that would tear his flesh with the tiny barbs I had cut into the head. I aimed; slowed my breathing; drew; and let my pain, my anguish, my hate fly towards his heart. The High Cleric of Mitra. My father. Who lives only because the wind shifted at the wrong time. The breath of god, perhaps.

But this place cannot hold me. It cannot contain my hatred for this man nor those who condoned his actions. I will exact my revenge on every self-righteous son-of-a-b**@~ in this piss-pot city and burn the temples of Mitra to the ground!

Would a half-elf (drow-descended) be acceptable per my current crunch? I'm applying for another campaign concuurently with this one, but will happily drop the other one to play this!

@Lanarial: The half-elf (drow descended) is acceptable. The alignment will have to be evil though and the stats can be modified later, if you wish. What is the crime? Attempted murder?

Alignment would be NE. Original Crime was High Treason because he attempted to assassinate the High Priest of Mitra. Unfortunately I can not see your linked player's guide - it comes across as computer code / symbols. Could be my work computer!

It's a slow day, so I'm going to build a crunch for you and post it as a spoiler (and keep in a separate text document =) with your character build specs above! When I get home I'll try the link again and see if I have any more luck - that might change the trait a little...
