PW1,

Unfortunately, Intangibility doesn't allow for snatch and grab. That is, reaching through a window or wall, grabbing the stuff, and pulling it through and running away with it.

My thought was something like Intangibility, but with that addition.

I'll rework it with Intangibility, and rework the backstory some.

ik

Hmmm that is a major increase in Intangibles power. It could get ugly fast. I am willing to allow it ON A TEST BASIS but it will cost. My initial feeling is a +4 mod (so 9pts total) with the stipulation that is is a spirit roll to grab something while phased and objects will not phase pack until you do. Needless to say if we go with this and I have to yank it latter you will get the 4pts back.

What do you think?

Why must you tempt me so?!?!

Please tell me you have no more openings & I should just move along. I was in a PbP Necessary Evil Campaign on these very boards about a year ago (it died).

Irnk.... not sure if you remember the root aliases of some of the people who have been posting... but the eminent PWO was in that campaign.

As was I, though with a differently ethnically focused bruiser.

updated background:

Concept: Can turn into a ghost-like form.

Rather than "fight the good fight", Carl used it to do smash-and-grabs without the smash. Basically, walk up to a jewelry display, break the display case, grab the jewelry, turn intangible, and escape. Combined with his burglary abilities, this more than supports his drug habit.

Looks: Carl is well-built and relatively good looking with sandy hair and hazel eyes. He is not too bright (low Smarts) and kind of stupid (low Spirit).

Carl is part of the underground crime world. He never cared about the V'sori occupation. It just meant there were fewer police. Grab the jewels and fence them. Then get high. Then get more jewels.

Sent by Imagine to obtain something from the V’sori, Carl made the grab, but in the heat of the chase was unable to turn ghost-like. Carl ran. Got caught. Got banged on the head.

The Very Sorry interrogated him to find out how the item got targetted. Carl figured that he might get let go if he told. So, he gave up Imagine’s name.

Now? Now, you ask? Carl is wearing a little device the Very Sorry put on him. As soon as he goes intangible, it zaps him unconscious. Carl does not like having a shocking dog collar.

Having trouble pinning down a character concept for this one. I'm going to back out so Irnk can get in.

There is room for you both, but I understand concept issues.

I will keep your slot open. Drop me a pm or a discussion thread post and I can easily work you in.

Irnk Nope, you are not getting away that easily. Now give me a concept!

Speaking of the discussion thread. I am opening it now for banter and Char-gen and cookie recipes.

Recruiting is officially closed but given the way of PBP a note is always worth a shot.

Villains United. <snicker>
Ira Kroll - Carl, a phasing thief and addict.
Nohwear - Silicon Sorcerer, augmented technomancer
Atlas2112 - Imagine
DM Frogfoot - Held slot
Mark Sweetman - Sapele Lalolagi, angry wall of meat.
Irnk - unknown

Mmmm, I'll keep thinking about it. I would love to be a player in one of your campaigns. Let's see if something grabs me over the weekend. :)

@DM Frogfoot:

If I may, might I recommend that you pick up the Player's Guide and peruse the powers sections? A host of ideas can leap to the fore just by looking at it's infinite selection. Such as:

1) Shadow Warrior: Extra Actions and Energy Control--Darkness(stacking).
2) Cat o' Nine Tails: Duplication and Force Control w/ Bind
3) Death's Left Hand: Infection(maximum)w/ Strong & Always On.
4) Gun Nut: Fighting w/ guns & Malfunction. (Let's see the V'sori fight without technology!)
5) Black Hole: Invisibility and Negation

That's just a moment's contemplation. I'm sure a man of your infinite character can so much better. =)

Plenty of time

Let me know if you want random ideas. Maybe something in the background guide will spark something.

Well, bother. I thought I posted here earlier...

Since Mark Sweetman has once more pre-empted my attempt to claim the Brick/Brute spot & it sounds as though Imagine is very much like my previous character in the Campaign I played with Mark, I have looked through the rules & another concept I have toyed with does seem to be viable. Probably going to go with an Energy Projecter/Manipulator type. I will have a background at least tomorrow, possibly a full mechanical write-up as well.

Many many kinds of bricks in the wall. The angry wall of meat slot may be taken but Crock is not the only model to build on. Ace from the Royal flush gang, a Jekyll-Hyde type, plastic man, or the heavily armoed ever loving blue eyed thing. Plenty of room for high str types.

Irnk - question for you in discussion.

This team could use someone who is good for intel. Call me Mr. Seen. In my former life I was a Maori hack psychic who conned people out of their money by pretending to be in contact with their deceased loved ones. For the past four years under V'sori occupation, though, I've learned that my remote viewings aren't just lies; I'm actually gaining the knowledge that I require somehow. I can't speak with the spirits of the dead, but I know and see things that should not be possible for me to see or know, by using intense concentration and meditation.

I immediately took to the work, using my impossible knowledge to steal and wreak mischief, just because I could. I studied ancient psychic students throughout history and have tattooed my face in ornate Maori style. My hair is brown, and closely shaven to the scalp, and my eyes are a fierce shade of green. Even I don't understand why my psychic powers are suddenly manifesting; but even as I was doing some research into the phenomenon, I grew careless and allowed myself to be captured.

Minor power idea: See through solid surfaces by pressing one palm to the surface. Major power idea: see future events happen before they happen.

hmmmm interesting idea.

Thoughts & Questions

Awareness could be tweaked to do remote viewing.

Good fighting/deflection/parry could be combat precognition.

Seeing through things is what Awareness does.

Non combat precognition is a tougher nut to crack.

How to you see the noncombat precognition being used?
Is it under your direction or are we in GM controlled visions territory?
If it is under your control do you see the character taking an active part in action sequences or would you stay at the base and provide over-watch a'la Oracle from Batman?
With knowledge of future events how were you captured?

Poor Wandering GM wrote:

Thanks! I was struggling to come up with a unique powers idea that would stand out from the other members of the team. This could be a fun concept to play with.

Poor Wandering GM wrote:

Well, I haven't purchased the books yet so I don't know exactly how the mechanics would work. I assume there's some rough analogue to Perception checks in Savage Worlds? If so, I would pump that "stat" or skill or whatever, and whenever I rolled for it I could ask about something that is about to happen, like when you do Discern Realities in Dungeon World, only more supernatural.

Poor Wandering GM wrote:

My idea for the power was basically remote viewing that occasionally slips into future events. I would be in control of the power through concentration, but it also leaves lots of options for the GM to intrude with unwanted/harmful visions. My character barely understands his own power, so there's lots of wiggle room for interpretation.

Poor Wandering GM wrote:

That idea - staying behind and providing intel from afar - never occurred to me, but it could be a really interesting way to take my character! Since I designed him as a sort-of divination specialist, combat wasn't the top of my list of priorities (though I like the in-combat precog thing too, sort of like the Force assisting the Jedi). I'm still on the fence about this. Overwatch could be a very interesting role to play in a PbP.

Poor Wandering GM wrote:

Obviously my visions of the future are imperfect and incomplete, or else my character concept would be brutally overpowered. The more possibilities exist for a given situation, the more difficult it becomes for me to discern what is actually going to happen and what is just a risk of happening. When I was captured, I was taking a risk that my capture wouldn't happen. I bet on the wrong horse.

DM Frogfoot wrote:

Ok getting a grip on this...

Controllable non combat precog/remote viewing is going to be very difficult. It destroys too many plots and 'Scry and Die' is not something I want to introduce to NE.

So limitations....

I like the touch limitation on seeing through walls. You have to be there for the power to work and you might have issues seeing through some walls. The double hulls used by submarines/oil tankers/spaceships will cause issues. X-ray vision is normally a forbidden power in NE but I think this might make it work.

Limitations on the non-combat precog/remote.
Tossing ideas most of these will likely not work
.....Link to the target/target area.
.....Self blind. You cannot forsee the effects of your own actions.
.....Information is symbolic. See David Lynch. I played a character in a convention prep one shot. The character was a psychometrist named 'Yesterdays Man'. Whenever he used his object reading power he saw what had happened as a scene in a B&W 40's noir film. All the information was translated into that limited genre. A person in power armor became a guy in a very stylish suit whose face was always out of shot for example.

This is a tough power to have in an RPG but I am sure we can find a solution.

I like self-blind, it's like how the Doctor can never time travel to change his own timeline. I'm liking pushing my character into more of a martial artist type character, who uses limited foresight (like, seconds) into the future when in combat. However, it's linked to adrenaline, so it's not something that I can just summon up at will. Maybe if I have clues and an opportunity for contemplation I can get cryptic and symbolic hints at the future of a given person or place. Because I've figured out that I can only experience precog in high-stress situations, I'll have experimented with self-mutiliation.

Sounds good and combat pre-cog is easy to model. Deflection and Awareness powers along with high fighting skill or the parry power. The Good Luck and something like the Jack-of-all trades edges to model the fact that you have subconsciously foreseen the results.

Still recruiting? Picked this book last week and looks like a good time.

Sorry bilbo currently full at 5-6 evildoers.

However...... We both know that pbp games have a severe attrition rate so please keep an on this space as it will be a miracle if a a slot does not open up. Given my experience at least it will even be quite soon.

So please, if you think you might like to play feel free to lurk, and comment in the discussion thread.

Right on. I will whip up a character for the second string bench, lol. ;)

Perfect!

My name is Juan, and I wear magic P.A.N.T.S.

I look like almost everyone. It's one of my greatest strengths, that I'm average. I could be the guy behind the counter at your second-favorite grocery store, a bridge construction worker, or the guy who drives a street sweeper at night. Medium size, medium build, brown hair, sometimes a mustache. Sometimes a hard hat. Sometimes just a good book and cup of coffee.

Oh. Right. The magic P.A.N.T.S. They're not really magic or pants, but they're mine.

Photosynthetic
Adaptive
Nanotechnology
Tactical
System

It's a sophisticated nanobot suit that can do many things, but my two prototypes can only perform one chief function at a time. The suit can be a carapace to soak damage, a blaster to deal damage, or help me fly. However, it can only do one of those things at a time and requires a certain amount of time to restructure between roles. It's a temporary limitation. I'm still working on it.

That's another thing. I may look like average Joe, but I have a gift with technology. I can fix a lot of things and reverse engineer complicated machines and code.

What have I done? Amateur. Don't you know better than to ask that question? Ask me what I was accused of instead, which so far is a list as long as my arm. Corporate espionage. Assault. Attempted murder in the second degree. Various, ridiculous computer hacking charges. Even trespassing. Sometimes I have to steal to keep my lab running. Sometimes I want a little payback. No, I'm not going to talk about that.

Lately? I've done a bit of this, a bit of that. Mostly I try to scrounge power sources of the small, portable, and nuclear variety. I infiltrated and robbed a Thorium repository in the United States three months ago. Oh, and a shipment of former U.S.S.R. plutonium just landed in my lap last month. Really. Scout's honor.

But what put me in this V'sori prison was when I took about a sixth of their primary database. I wasn't sure what I would find, hacking into one of their shuttles and using a link back to a mother ship. I used some of the V'sori cracker programs that are still available and a mass downloader. By the time I started sifting through the data to get an idea of what I had there were troops coming in my front door. I figure I'm still alive because they want to know what else I may have downloaded and who else has seen it.

Good to see you seditiousbroom.
Hop on over to the discussion thread for character generation and meeting the locals.

Still need to buy the PDF for this one, will take care of it tomorrow when I get home from work.

Hello, this certaintly does look interesting, altought I dont know if you would accept a complete noob of savage world, I dont really know much about the system. Anyway he is my idea.

a) What is your concept? An Evil Priest who is psychotic, yet philosophical maniac, he has the solipsist idealogy that one's own mind is the only thing sure to exist and he says that he cannot die because the world is only a dream and that all people might just exist in his imagination. He works as an asassin, making what he believes is "the will of god" (which is funny if you considering he believe he is god)
b) What do you look like? Hair/eye color? Height and Weight? Think of what your villains mug shot would look like.

Fair lean skin, pale color, blond a in general a very pleasant and charismatic face. Which however hides his psychotic demanour

c) What can you do? What separates you from the masses? Brains? Training? Acidic blood? Magic tea cozy?

He has "the power of god" as he calls it its the power to manipulate light complete with "light speed" (not sure if thats possible but maybe as an idea)

d) What have you done? What separates you from a random thug? Describe a typical crime. There is a reason you could not be at the welcoming ceremony with Champion.

He randomly kills people on a dialy basis. He decides this trough his "revelation". His asassinations tend to be mothodic and calculated however, they are only one per day. Sometimes while listening to confessions he looks at the "desires of people" if he feels like it he does it. He normally kills by decapitation and most of times leaves a calling card. nad takes a memento.

e) What have you been doing lately? How have you spent the last two years under V'sori occupation? Most importantly tell me about your capture by the V’sori. Yes you have been captured, no this cannot be negotiated.

After having successfully killed for many years trough his facade, he has been reccently been arrested the the champions. He is ok with this for this is the "will of god too" after all its all part of his imagination.

Dark Archive

I like the idea. It kinda reminds me of the fan theory that if you were part of the Matrix, then when someone else was "rescued," to you they were killed. Thus, mistranslated, people can be rescued by being killed.

Will you have access to the NE players guide? It is VERY important. Rules wise you can stagger on using the Test drive download from the Pinnacle site but for powers, and more importantly the critical background I will forget to tell you, you really do need access to the players guide.

Also please use a spell checker. I am a crap speller but the checker on this board helps to keep me readable. I don't expect perfection but a PBP game runs solely on words.

Hmmm you did read the Evil not Psychotic bit in the opening post in this thread. Think Stan Lee Jack Kirby era rather than Sin City. Why would other villains work with you rather than turning you in to the V'sori for a reward?

c) What can you do?

Quite doable at first glance. So a light manipulating speedster, correct?

Nope. Just no. Victor Zasaz and his like need not apply. Remember this is a game about Four-Color villains. Again why would people, the other PC's etc., trust this character with their lives.

I am not sure what you are saying here. Not sure who the champions are. You did read the spoiler about Necessary Evil right?

You were captured but Champion (NE's Superman) is very dead. You were captured by the V'sori the aliens who currently occupy the earth.

All in all there are some issues here but nothing that can't be hashed out. A good start, I await your response.

Re the murder thing. Look at the other players.

Sapele no doubt killed several folks in forging his kingdom. I expect he even enjoyed the fights and struck from stealth when he was able. But there is no feeling/mention that he reveled in the killing. He may well have but it is not a core element on his character.

Carl is a super-powered meth-head and an excellent shot. He kills people, with his power and skill set he pretty much has to to get by, and he does it through stealth, likely with then occasional methodical plan. But again the killing is for a reason, in this case drugs and money, and killing is not a core character element.

Imagine rapes peoples minds. To some this is more transgressive that simply killing them. I expect she has killed and made others kill. But here again killing is not a core element.

Fiddler has likely killed as well. His power set relies on melee fighting and that leads to bodies. But there is nothing to indicate that he seeks out victims to simply murder.

So basically if you want this character to enter the game you need to make it clear to me that not only is killing not a core element but you need to clarify what the character's core element is.

Shadow Lodge

Oh ok wait i kinda didnt get it at first... ok let me get this right, in this campaign more than evil evil people we are playing more of like antiheroes?

I have my methods I will get it soon, basically since im engaged in a couple of things i will probably wont be able to completely check on the material till sunday.

I did this kind of fast , I apologize for the typos. Normally Im very careful on my writing while on pbp, not that much when im writing with my main account.

DM wrote:

Yes, light based powers basically, I dont know if you know "Get Backers" he based on this guy

DM wrote:

Well he is for instance not a backstabber, he believes the in a world which was made by his mind. Think of a director watching a movie, he gets really pissed if the actors get endagered, specially the characters which he is more fond of. His personality is somehow based on Felix Walken from Baccano if you need a reference. But because of this he does not have moral bondaries per se (due to his silopism ideal), he just enjoys the order of the story displayed beyond his eyes.

Also im not the disruptive kind of guy, dont see the point in pvp

Having said that I dont mind having him less psychotical. I had a couple of less evil concepts I could try. For instance I was also thinking of having him work for an organization of the church (any church) which involve many works such as asassinations, less random killing, more "im doing a job" kind of killing. He would still keep his personality and way of seeing life.

DM wrote:

Ok i just reread the whole thing, i had read something completely different for some reason. I understand we are now living in some kind of distopia. In this case he would have been captured due to his powers in order to be studied further

Book
Cool glad to hear you are getting the Players guide.

Spellcheck
I may just be being picky cause cause I'm in a bad mood but
the spelling thing really matters to me. Even in applications, especially in applications really as it is all I have to go on. Sorry if that is a pain.

Powers
Ok that guy is way overpowered for this game. So let's start breaking it down. What is/are the most important things you want to do? It looks like the main things mentioned are some kind of ranged attack, what sounds like intangibility. All the stuff about unstoppable attacks. Forget it unstoppable is boring. Besides if you have unstoppable attacks then the other side gets them as well and that makes for a short game.

PVP
Strangely enough this campaign has no issue with backstabbing. You are villains after all. Mind you I expect the others might take a dim view, and as you are all about equal in terms of raw power,I see this as a self-correcting problem.

Murder
I am mainly concerned with the one a day killing thing. Frankly this will get boring fast. Punching down, attacking someone weaker than yourself, has no challenge, no drama, no reason for the other players to be interested. Is short it is dull. Pbp is slow enough as it is without adding needless padding.

So with this all in mind and having read the correct info on Necessary Evil please redo the application questions. Try to give me a feel for your villain. Try to convince me that this character is interesting and active and engaging enough to support a series.

~PWGM

Shadow Lodge

I also had another idea of a bounty hunter whose main power is cancelling powers. He's the guy you call whne you need anything supernatural put down. He does help himself trought the use of intelligence and technology while his nagation power protect him from the supernatural

Also an excellent idea. Feel free to pitch this person as well.

The bounty hunter sounds more four color and less independent graphic novel. The feel of this game is more 80's Marvel and less mid 90's manga. I adjusted my concept from the original I had pitched, too. I could see the bounty hunter working well in any Spiderman comic. Hobgoblin did the same thing with his gas grenades.

Shadow Lodge

Ok so I got my copy of NecessaryEvil guide earlier than expected. Anyway here is what I have tought so far.

a) What is your concept?

Heaven Chanceller, bounty hunter.

Who is him? He is the guy who you look for when you need to deal with the supernatural. Do you want a hero beign put down? you call him. Do you have a problem witha ghost? you call him. Did your cat became a eldritch horror? there he is. He is there for whoever pays him. As one of the few who can deal with this kind of jobs, he gets called a lot.

b) What do you look like?
Dark eyes and black hair, palid skin. In certain way he looks very gloomy.

c) What can you do? What separates you from the masses? Brains? Training? Acidic blood? Magic tea cozy?

His ability "Zero" as he calls it removes heros and supernatural abilities. He also has a number of self made articles which give him an edge an any battle, he has perfected his toys inspired on the heroes and creatures he has defeated or killed. He normally cancells the objective's powers first and uses technology to overpower his foe.

d) What have you done? What separates you from a random thug? Describe a typical crime. There is a reason you could not be at the welcoming ceremony with Champion.

A dicator in Afric is really pissed because his plans are beign interrupted by a local hero, panther warrior. super fast and superstrong with beast like powers. Heaven is called to "erase" this menace. He studies his habits for quite some days and the he proceeds to eliminate him. Is easy, hereoes get confident. They relly too much on their power, and so he erases his power and ends up beating him to a pulp. A pitty he lacked regular training in combat, a powerless hero is easy to kill. Bullet on the head, bam, not so diffent than killing a fly.

e) What have you been doing lately? How have you spent the last two years under V'sori occupation?

After Visori's occupation bussiness havent gone good lately, the lack of heroes has basically cut off his main supply of funds. He still gets jobs to deal with the supernatural but due to visori's control jobs have been scarce. In general Visori's thread has really pissed him off since he has lost the fancy lifestyle he has been going trough.
______________________________________________________________________

Now basically on powers his main atribute is cancelling powers, he has technology and knows hand to hand combat. I havent decided exactly on which techpowers he will have yet, that will depend on how i make the crunch. One could say he is somehow like and evil batman with the powers of the haitian

Nice.

So a bit of the Punnisher / Hunter of men vibe. I can see why you were not killed with the rest of the heroes and why the V'sori would bother with you.

Excellent.
How were you captured by the way? Sold out? Set up? Bit off more than you could chew?

Looking forward to the crunch.

Shadow Lodge

Thinking that he was somehow contacted by the visori to do some cleaning job, he relunctantly accepted since he was low on funds, but after killing the hero which was hiding he was doublecrossed by the Visori. This particulary pissed him off, they had broken his contract, he vowed to hunt every single one of them

Due to the normal Slings and arrows of PbP we need an extra body or two so I am reopening recruitment for this game. ~Poor Wandering GM

If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans. ~Stephen Hawking

The Necessary Evil campaign for Savage Worlds has long been a favorite of mine, so much a favorite that I am taking the likely insane step of translating it into play-by-post.

Necessary Evil, for those poor souls unfamiliar with it:

Necessary Evil posits a world where superheroes have been active since at least the First World War. This world by and large looks like ours. Ok computer controlled flying cars have just hit the luxury market and failing organs can be regrown thanks to knowledge gleaned from the 1918 zombie uprising. But it mainly looks like home. This world is then set on fire.
It turns out Professor Hawking was correct.
Four years ago Earth was attacked by the K’tharen. Luna base was lost and earth’s defenders both military and meta-human were hard pressed maintaining the war at a stalemate. Then rescue arrived. A new alien force the V’sori, apparently a former slave race of the K’tharen, were hunting their former masters and found then here. We didn’t ask questions, we just accepted the help and watched the K’tharen ships burn. Earth had triumphed; our Heroes had saved the day again. The victory celebrations spanned the globe. Thousands packed the streets to witness the welcoming ceremonies as the V’sori ships hovered over our cities. Millions watched the live feed from Star City as Champion (think Superman) and the Alpha Squadron (think Avengers) waited beside the President to greet Ambassador F’arak .
Millions watched as a city block sized energy weapon vaporized Champion, Alpha Squadron and the gathered leaders. Across the globe with targeted strikes and mass orbital bombardment the V’sori attacked. Through the dust of the first strike those few still with a functioning feed saw K’tharen troopships dropping from the V’sori cruisers. Leaderless, hero-less, the occupation of earth had begun.
And this brings us to you. You are not a hero. Over the past two years War-Master F’arak has hunted down every meta-human he could get his little blue fingers on. All the heroes are gone. Most of the big name villains are gone. You are what is left, a necessary evil.

Characters in NE are villains. Not in the class of Lex Luthor or Dr. Doom, yet, but a step up from killers like Zsasz. As the players guide puts it:

Necessary Evil Players guide wrote:

Evil, Not Psychotic
Necessary Evil is all about playing the villains of four-color comics, with their grand schemes of world domination and destruction. While these villains may be murderous and megalomaniacs, they don’t tend to be mindless killers without purpose. The super-villain you make up should at least have the potential for working with other super-villains. While playing a completely anti-social psychotic does have its charms, it does not usually make for good team game-play. Take some time to consider why your villain would cooperate with other villains, especially under the circumstances. Your villain could certainly murder his fellow compatriots at a later date to serve his own goals, but for the time being, he ought to realize he’s more powerful with others by his side.

So take Mark Hamill's Joker as the boundary line ok?

It isn’t necessary to imagine the world ending in fire or ice — there are two other possibilities: one is paperwork, and the other is nostalgia. ~Frank Zappa.

What I need from you. First off I am not requesting full characters yet. If you have accesses to the Necessary Evil rules or Players Guide then by all means feel free but for right now I just need enough to start with. Note if selected you will need to have access to the Nesessary Evil Players Guide. It has things like weapons, armor, equipment, setting information and character generation. More importantly it has all the background, clues, hints and secrets that I will forget to tell you. I suppose you could manage without it but you would be missing out on some important information.

Please answer the following questions in your application.
a) What is your concept? Give me a one or two sentence description of your villain.

b) What do you look like? Hair/eye color? Height and Weight? Think of what your villains mug shot would look like.

c) What can you do? What separates you from the masses? Brains? Training? Acidic blood? Magic tea cozy?

d) What have you done? What separates you from a random thug? Describe a typical crime. There is a reason you could not be at the welcoming ceremony with Champion.

e) What have you been doing lately? How have you spent the last two years under V'sori occupation?

Everything I was afraid of when I was growing up, I've become. I've taken on my nightmares, like the devil and the end of the world, and I've become those things. ~Marilyn Manson

Concepts are up to you but I am afraid that the plot requires some restrictions. Feel free to ask me why but there is very little that I can tell you …
No Robots, cyborgs are fine but there needs to be meat in there somewhere.
No Aliens. Well there are Atlanteans and Atlantean-human crossbreeds but no other aliens are available.
You must have a body. This does not mean you cannot turn into a ghost/a gas/a shadow/etc. You can even normally be in that state but if your powers are suppressed you have to have a body to go home to. Basically you have to be able to be restrained.

This is all I need so please, show me a rogue’s gallery.

I am sure that I cam come up with something, but not tonight.

Nohwear Given this and in particular the PM you sent me when you dropped out of the first round of character generation, are you able to commit to what could be an AP length game?

Folks in reopened recruiting threads often ask who else is in the party. This is less important in a supers game but in case you were wondering.

Carl, Ghostly thief with a trusty .45

Heaven, Super-powered assassin, nearly able to outrun his own bullets.

Imagine, she is in your mind, watching you read this, right now.

The Fiddler, Human-crustacean hybrid of horror! Fear the Claw!

I'd be very interested, the problem is I don't know the Savage world rules :p

Eitherway, I may do some research tonight after work because I do love the concept (friend of mine plays it and I found it very interesting) plus I miss scratching my superhero itch ever since City of Heroes went down.

Glad to have you.

The rules are actually pretty simple. You have dice to represent skills or stats, so a strength of d4 is average while d12 is an Olympic lifter. You roll these and try to beat a target number, this is usually a 4 and you usually get a bonus for every 4 you beat the target by.

There are special cases and modifiers but if you can manage Pathfinder Savage worlds is a walk in the park.

As far as rules you will need access to the Necessary Evil Players Guide. This not only has all the superpower rules but more importantly it has all the setting information and it is liberally sprinkled with important clues. The core book, Savage Worlds Deluxe, would also be very useful byt you could get by for a good bit using only the Test Drive rules. I recommend getting the full core book but then I am a bit of a Savage Worlds Fan. (plus the core book is only $10)

I tried City of Heroes a few times. It may just have been bad luck but I found the online culture rather toxic. Lots of dudebros, and heaven help you if you happened to be female, queer, or not white. But like I said it may have been bad luck.

Looking forward to seeing your concept.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the game. I never actually had any issues, but could be my experience as it often depends on what you run into.

Anyway, I'm looking over the system (I have the free edition on herolab) and the book and I have an idea, but have no idea how the hell to adapt my idea to the system.

I believe this is superhero based so I'm thinking of making somekind of tech supervillain. A guy who commands robots, uses high-tech lasers and such and can basically hack into anykind of system or tinker with any technology and get a good idea of how it functions which, considering we're against a alien race, would be very useful to have someone who might be bale to understand it.

I have had rotten luck with MMO's so I expect I am cursed or something. Meh, I'll live.

By "...the book..." do you mean the Necessary Evil player's guide?

Re tech villain. This is completely buildable.
The robots might be an issue but I think the Minion power can cover this.
Lasers are easy either ones you buy with power points or ones you steal from the aliens.

Hacking. The perfect power mix for this is Interface w/ codebreaker, Broadcast w/manipulation[/b] and maybe [i]Speak language. With these powers and some skills to back them up most anything digital or transmitted is yours. The full mix is expensive but the components are all useful alone so you can work your way up.

Invent is also very useful but it is very expensive and rather fiddly if you are new to the system.

Malfunction is also worth consideration as a tech-villain.

Skills and edges will also be important. Jack-of-all trades, Mechanical Genius, Investigator etc will likely show on your sheet eventually.

So what kind of tech-villain to you see here? A Power Armor jockey going toe to toe with the baddies? A tech-ninja slipping unseen through the system? A 1337 haxor turning their enemies weapons against them?

More than happy to help with the rules/building part but if you can take a look at the Gadgeteer example character. Perhaps all it needs is a tweak or three......

I meant the Savage World's Explorer Guide. I was looking through that, but didn't know where to get the Necessary Evil Player's Guide.

I'l have a dig around tomorrow, see if I can find a way inside.

I wasn't 100% on wanting the robots, but being a tech villain is enough.

I'll ignore invent as I am new to the system and would rarther not slow down the game to a halt by firing off wrong dice or something :p

The third option sounds like what I'm after as does the second. I wasn't thinking of going toe-to-toe but if in combat, to be able to use laser-based weapons and maybe even alter and corrupt system programming to aid in a battle by say, turning sentry guns on the target or deactivating robots and so on.

Give me a bit of time to work on a idea for a back story with a why he became this way.

Well if you do not have the players guide then all the talk about powers will make no sense
