Thistletorp found himself looking into a broad hall. To one side, the wall gave way in an irregular hole that looked burned through the blue-black stone. The floor sloped upward beyond it.
Jakun looks to Thistle, "Look around but touch nothing, the others will be back soon enough my friends".
Jakun meanwhile once more casts Detect Magic to inspect the room to ascertain if anything holds the telltale signature of the arcane.
Thistletorp's topknot bobs up and down as he eagerly nods his head. "Yup yup yup!"
Thistletorp and Jakun found no trace of magic or other treachery about the hall, but Thistletorp thought he heard a fascinating moaning sound from beyond the southern doors.
Loren watches the decrepit dragon depart with Mittens, his gut roiling with tension. May the gods be with them... He then returns to the company of Jakun, Thistletorp, and all the exciting things the kender is sure to find... or create. And may they also be with us.
The others found Jakun and Thistle examining the hall, returning below without incident.
There's a really cool moaning sound on the other side of the door! We should find out what it is!

Loren studies the door beyond which the kender hears the mournful sounds. This place is cursed and filled with evil, but what if it is a spirit distraught by its fate yet not succumbed to darkness? He ponders for a moment.
”I admit... I am at a loss in this place. It’s possible it’s a trap, but we have found a dragon of light trapped here. Could not others who have not succumbed to the wizard’s darkness also be here, trapped, hoping against hope for help after all these years? If it lets us explore another possible path to our destination, are we not bound to investigate, both by what we must do and what is right?”

Thistletorp fsighs when Jakun suggests returning. "Ok... If you say so. But, it'd be funner to check now!" He brightens, though when Mariel asks him about Sad Draqgons. "If it was a Sad Dragon, I'd tell it a joke and hug it! It wouldn't be sad then! If it wasa mean dragon,though.. well.. I'd tell it more jokes so it wasn't mean anymore!"
"Maybe we should try another door, preferably one where there isn't some moaning undead waiting to suck the life out of us!" suggested Caitlyn lightly, "I'm going to check out the double doors to the south."
She walked past the shaft to the doors, paying close attention for any tracks that might have been made by animals or worse. Finally in front of the doors she stopped to listen carefully.
Caitlyn found what looked to be a chapel. A low altar stood on the far end, over which was draped a skeleton in rusted armor. It still grasped a gleaming sword in one hand and a roll of parchment in the other.

Loren accompanies Caitlyn and eyes the scene warily. With his free hand, he clasps the medallion about his neck and says a quick prayer.

Yet another corpse,. Caitlyn couldn't she was surprised but this one at least wasn't trying to suck out their souls so they had that going for them.
While Loren and Mariel debated whose alter this might once have been Caitlyn whispered, "Psst. Jackun. You'd probably better do your thing and make sure there's no slumbering art here..." Magic always lead to trouble!
Loren and Mariel both note the altar's ancient form, one not used anywhere since the Cataclysm. It has the form of a stone table, but where an icon of the god should be is only emptiness. Were the sign stolen or destroyed there might be some indication, but the black stone seemed intentionally shaped to suggest absence rather than somehow lacking in itself.
They believe the altar sacred to Nuitari.

Nothing stirred as Thistle bounded forward. He came all the way to the skeleton without incident.

The skeleton did not respond, but Thistletorp felt a vast, cold presence somewhere in the absence above the altar that stared directly into his soul. For a moment he imagined a brilliant night sky with the stars going out one by one and then darkness swallowing the two moons whole.

Loren tenses as the kender approaches the altar but he doesn't try to stop him. As Jakun arrives, the knight says (still watching the kender and the altar with one hand on his sword), "I am honestly a bit surprised, wizard. This seems to be an altar to the Black Moon. I didn't think your orders typically engaged in such traditional forms of worship."

Jakun turns to Loren, "We don't. This is unusual indeed".

Jakun detects faint necromancy and enchantment about the altar. As his spell extends his divine senses, he has the almost overwhelming feeling of being watched and recognized.
Caitlyn didn't like this place one little bit. Folding her arms she stated flatly, "We don't belong here. We should leave..."
She walks over to the western door and listens before putting her hand out to touch it. At the last moment she recoils and asks Thitletorp, "Maybe uh you should check there aren't any cabbages hiding behind this door..." This place was beginning to get to her, and no doubt there would be an 'interesting' moaning from the other side or something even worse!

The sword came free without protest, though the skeleton did lose a finger in the process.
Jakun levitates the sword before the Knight, "It is magical, can you tell if it is evilly aligned?"
From the other side of the room, Caitlyn gave the proceedings a dubious regard, "I hope you know what you're doing... Once you're done, lets try this door? For once there don't seem to be any 'interesting' noises coming from behind it..."
Acutely aware they were in an uncanny place, Caitlyn watched ready for anything.

Caitlyn found a disused, dusty chamber bare save for a few bits of dislodged wall.
Loren shrugs somewhat helplessly in response to Jakun. "I'm afraid deciphering the magic of things is beyond me."
Jakun grins at Loren, "Not the magic I need you to look at my friend, I'll get to that when we leave. So long as it is not evil it may be worthwhile for you to wield while we are in this place".
"Well, if you don't wish to wield it until after I analyze it, I'll hold it for safekeeping.
Shall we move along?"
"Yes it's high time we left this forsaken place. I think there were some rooms to the west we haven't explored..." replied Caitlyn.
