It only does 2d6 damage, although to each of them. It has a save too so might do half damage, highly debatable if it's worth it...

Exactly as Caitlyn says. Only 2d6 plus a saving throw, versus a ghost touch attack (for full damage). That said, I'm still learning the character so any suggestions as to other things I can do with him are VERY welcome.

Thistletorp grits his teeth, a dark look burning in his eyes. He thrusts his blade into one of the ghosts and knocks it to wisps that sigh away into nothing. Mittens smiles at ghosts salutes them sending forth the bison god's might. An animal musk fills the chamber, accompanied by the sound of a distant stampede as something unseen tears the last two ghosts to nothing.

And had I realized that happened so early in the init, I'd have resolved it already. :)

Caitlyn shivered as she scraped the frost off her skin. Mariel's prayer had been welcome, but she still felt terribly cold. Her mind slowed, she didn't immediately respond to Jackun's question. Instead she glanced at Mariel who looked more like a block of carved ice than a living being. With great effort Caitlyn managed to reply, "We must rest, essentially you Mariel."

Lol. I figured, but I was still entertained by the Auto-Error.

The knight takes a breath as he looks around. "We only just entered and already nearly lost ourselves to this place. What other foulness awaits? Are we sure this is the only path to the dwarves? How much longer can the refugees wait while we lick our wounds?" His tone is not one of panic, but rather of a person trying to think his way through the options and measure the risks. As he chews on that, he pauses to look at Mariel, "Miss Caitlyn is right, Revered Daughter. The spirits seemed enraged by your presence in particular, for obvious reasons. To press on now would seem to flirt with death, for you and Miss Caitlyn."

Jakun marked cunningly hidden arrow slits in the walls, almost invisible against the dark stone. They were angled away from the Companion's direction, out into the unknown past the doors ahead.

I do not know how or why. However, I can feel his presence about me. Unless I allow him to, he has no hold over me. That said I may be able to tap into his memory to search this place more quickly.

Of course, that gambit may well be as dangerous to me as the Revered Daughter traveling these halls without rest.

Loren listens to the others and studies Mariel. He knows enough about battlefield medicine to see she is at death's door. "It seems to me pressing on at this moment is out of the question, notions of 'foolish nobility' aside. The wizard is right... again. As for letting some ancient spirit take control of your body," he says to Jakun, "we may as well just slit our own throats and be done with it. Also out of the question. We rest. I'll take the watch."

I would not tap into the darker forces. Using the knowledge from the Dark One would not be wise. He was, in life, a powerful archmage of the Black Robes. He cannot be trusted

He looks around the gloomy hall and turns to Caitlyn, "Do we attempt to rest in this place or go outside on the plains to do so and return to this place in the early hours of the morning?"

Absolutely we should set watches. Jakun will also utilize one of his scrolls of Alarm to set up a perimeter. We regain one point of the Ability Damage with a night of sleep as well so that'll help.

She will. This is Con drain, which doesn't come back on its own like Con damage would. But Mariel has slots for Restoration. Each cast will wipe all the drain on one person. (Technically one ability score,

but no one is drained in anything but Con just now.)

Actually, I think 2 of Restoration and 1 Lesser Restoration for Jakun would be sufficient.

It needs to be full-on Restoration. Here's lesser: "Lesser restoration dispels any magical effects reducing one of the subject’s ability scores or cures 1d4 points of temporary ability damage to one of the subject’s ability scores. It also eliminates any fatigue suffered by the character, and improves an exhausted condition to fatigued. It does not restore permanent ability drain."

How are we doing on hitpoints? I'm down a little but could use some of my points to channel some healing.

Loren finds his sleep troubled but wakes the next morning relieved that no more foul luck has befallen them. He listens to Jakun, "You could be right. Or, having dealt with those spirits, it's the exactly the way to go. Master Babblebrook, any thoughts?"

As he talks, he inspects his injuries before donning his armor and readying the rest of his gear.

The regular hp damage is enough to get through with a night's rest and a channel energy or something before bedtime. Consider everyone maxed to what their current Con permits.

The knight eyes Jakun curiously. He didn't think it likely the minotaur was afraid of that path. Whatever else, the wizard and Mittens both exhibited an abundance of confidence. "Can I ask why you'd like to avoid it, Jakun, rather than finish what we started? I realize we nearly died trying to breach it last night, but given the volume of spirits we confronted, do you think it likely there are still more along that path? If we take another route, are we not just as likely to encounter similar spirits?"

His tone is respectful and not at all argumentative and, as he speaks, he heads back towards the ropes they will need to ascend.

The augury is in respect to entering Skullcap from without, with the middle way being the eye sockets. Inside, you've done a circuit of the big room in the middle and checked the far east (gold on an island in a pond that you think is a trap) and center north (ghostopolis).

Noting the funny look Jackun gave her, Caitlyn smiles, "Oh so we are going the right way. I think Loren is right we should go back the same way. Now I am tempted to lead you back there myself but it's probably best if Master Babblebrook went first in case of any any tricksky things..."

Probably need to get con damage sorted out first though. Mittens can't get this yet, but Paladins recently got a bunch of new options for lay on hands.

Stuff the Healer's Handbook added:
At level 9 paladins can get the Restorative mercy: The target heals 1d4 points of ability damage from a single ability score of the paladin’s choosing. The paladin must have the enfeebled mercy before selecting this mercy.
