Despite the hammering of her heart anticipating something awful to jump put at her, there was nothing behind the door to the west. Gail let out a sigh and suggested, "Hmm nothing here, well lets try this door to the east..."
She walked back across the chamber where they found the sword and inspected the door. I've moved her on the map. I think that's not up to date because we're all scattered.

It's not up to date. I'll fix that.
Caitlyn found another chamber like the one opposite, devoid of magic or interesting artifacts. Even Thistletorp couldn't find anything.
Caitlyn Weissman
"Terribly." replied Caitlyn deadpan, "Come Thistle, lets find another empty room..."
She then leaves the room to explore the closest door leading east. She listens carefully at the door before deciding whether or not to try and open it.

So, we have one door with someone crying on the other side, and another with music on the other side.

Moaning and not really opposite each other, but those are the unexplored doors with sounds attached. Perhaps there's a hint as to the best way forward in the room with all the enticing treasure? :)
Loren uth Brasel
I think that sounds like the type of thing an evil, diabolical GM would suggest in the hopes it would lead the poor heroes to their untimely doom...
Loren says, "Well, we're definitely not going into the chamber with all the treasure, so... Door number one," he points his sword towards the singing, "Or door number two? He gestures towards the crying. "You know my preference... We've already found one creature in need, it's not beyond reason there is another."
Caitlyn Weissman
Caitlyn shrugged, "We're going to face death either way. I'd feel better if somebody would pray for us before we open either door however."
It would be nice to get resistance on us at least :)

I would never lead the poor heroes to their untimely doom. Everyone knows the poor heroes sit in rooms at the bottom of a dungeon and wait.

Those spells are not in my bailiwick, so it'll be up to Mariel.
Loren considers next step, then seems struck by inspiration. He begins patting his belt pouches and other places to store goods, and pulls out a platinum ring, matched by one on his right hand. He says to Mariel, "Revered Daughter, with the way those spirits went after you last time, if and when we come across something else down here, I worry you will be their primary target once more. That being so, if you would wear this, I can cast a spell that will grant you some modest wards but also relieve you of some of the burden of any injuries." He offers her the ring, then prepares himself for the next room.
Caitlyn Weissman
"Err..." Caitlyn glanced at Loren, "I'm not sure what I was expecting, but certainly not this. Catchy tune isn't it!" She can't help but take a couple of steps in time with the music, swaying this way and that with nery a care.
Loren uth Brasel
Despite the impression of revelry, Loren eyes the ghosts with deep suspicion. Magic and death, restless spirits... nothing good. As Caitlyn starts to head into the room, he quickly reaches out and puts a hand on her shoulder, "Wait... This doesn't make sense. A wizard's fortress infested with death, destroyed in a battle and we have... this? No. Something isn't right."
He casts Detect Magic then tries to survey the room for any hint of what may be going on.

Loren saw that the dancing ghosts, while consumed in their frolic, all stole the occasional glance at the living as they flitted by. He believed them unquiet spirits, but they didn't look nearly as unquiet as usual. The blue-black aura of necromancy hung over the ballroom.
Caitlyn Weissman
Caitlyn almost said 'Aye you're not dancing...' but then again this situation was beyond messed up and her devil may care attitude deflated. Softly she replied, "You're probably right. I wonder why they're here? Like you say this place is suppose to be a fortress." She glanced meaningly at Mariel and Jackun, hoping they'd have some answers.
@Samnell, are there any other exits from this room? Not at my computer so I can't check the map.

North and east both have doors.

Mariel is reasonably sure that she is looking upon some sort of spirits. Such beings usually exist in torment, and the necromancy about this place would suggest that. It is the abode of a dark wizard, after all. That these do not appear hostile suggests something odd is afoot, perhaps a trap. But it could also be that they are trapped in their final moments and oblivious to the quick among them.

Jakun will cast detect magic and search the room for anything that might be valuable.

"This room is indeed infused with death. I surmise nothing of value will be in here but we may need to cross to get to where we need to go next".
About how many spirits are we talking here DM?
Loren uth Brasel
Loren shares his impressions, including, ”I believe they are aware of our presence. Whether that means they wait for us to come further in, or truly mean us no harm, I do not know... but I’m this place, I think the stone would kill us if it could, much less restless spirits.”
Caitlyn Weissman
"Probably." muttered Caitlin, "I suppose the door to the north opens onto the corridor, the door to the east seems most likely to head anywhere new. Shall we try that?"

A few dozen. It's a pretty active dance floor.

Is there a way to make it so that the ghosts don't see us? Thistletorp stage whispers, but still manages to be quiet.

46 stealth roll! Nice.
Caitlyn was about to reply to Thistle, but he just vanished. She casts around for him but can't find him anywhere, "Damn it where did he get to?" Turning to Jackun suspiciously, she demands, "You didn't magick him did you?!"
Loren uth Brasel
The knight taps the hilt of his sword with a finger while holding it as his side. Choices and indecision... Damn.
I just looked at the map. It looks like the door to the north of this "ballroom" likely matches up with a hallway also connected to a south-facing door from the main passage (I just drew a red box around it). Have we inspected that door already? Maybe we should just go around this.
Samnell
The door at the north of the ballroom is not the same as the door in the east-west corridor to the north. There's space between 'em. Could be anything in there. Maybe a treasure. Maybe another dragon for you to maim. Maybe a dragon to maim you. Let's not take maiming off the table.
Thistletorp circulated the room without the ghosts suspecting a thing.
Loren uth Brasel
No bo, I know they’re not literally the same door, but I’m speculating they lead to the same space. Did we check that other door yet?
Loren uth Brasel
I think we’re pretty certain they are spirits, not an illusion. Pretty sure answer is yes but that will definitely make us not their friends. Since we seem stuck, let me just toss out a suggestion. Let’s try talking to them. Pretty passive activity. If they attack, fine. If not but they don’t respond, we try walking around the perimeter to one of the doors.
