From Mr Whisker's paws twin firebolts streak out that strike a dark black barrier, sear their way through and turn her into a living tindertwig. "Silyzil and Grishelmuk will avenge me!" She croaks a final time before collapsing into a charred blackened heap on the floor.
GM Mort |
Loot time!
On her body the party finds a quarterstaff, a black sapphire worth 3000 gp, a key and a phylactery of negative channeling.
Each compartment contains a sleeping pallet, a large clay vase filled with water, and a table set with various items such as small stones, clay plates, bones, knives, and wooden drinking cups, as well as hooks upon which hang cloaks, blankets, and other sundries.
One of the compartments (5b) looks dusty and disused, like its previous occupant hasn't used it for a while.
The trunk in area C5a contains a potion of protection from arrows and a jar of earwigs, while the trunk in area C5c holds a scroll of flame strike, a bejeweled skull worth 1,200 gp, a leather sack containing 800 gp in assorted coins and small gems, and a wooden case containing what appears to be a collection of children’s scalps.

Einar walks towards the north passage and as he walks through the yawning tunnel, he suddenly dissappears.
What does the party do?
Crummock-i-Phail |
"No, they will not. If they try, they will simply die."
Crummock then meanders over, and casts a couple of spells...
...causing the hag's body to completely de-flesh.
He then claims her skull, but, with a nod to Mr Whiskers, makes no attempt to Animate it.
Crummock then heals Hirah...

Einar feels a sudden drop in ambient temperature(where it was once comfortable, now its barely above freezing). The tunnel is dark and cold, with motifs of winter, darkness, and death carved on the walls.
Like a harrowing cage woven from bone, wood, and sinew, a tangle of massive drying racks exhibit the splayed remains of dozens of woodland creatures, some dead, some still twitching. Narrow wooden planks serve as precarious walkways leading between the racks, with several rope ladders ascending to various levels. Bloodstained leather buckets filled with cruel and filthy vivisection tools hang from the hideous structure in several spots.
Three creatures, that look similar to Mierul(except they have an extra arm each), glare at you angrily when you enter their laboratory.

Hirah Cheran |
Actually shes grappled, so she takes a -2 penalty to attack rolls, which means that 1 claw misses, and rend doesn't trigger. Not that it matters much, but it probably saves a few CLW charges
Crummock, you just pissed off Hirah though in a massive way with the Soul Gem. Thats 3 times in total right in front of her. Are you prepared for like, a massive IC whinge?
Hirah Cheran |
My raging AC is 19.
She rolled an 19 but I see no penalties in that attack roll.
So ???
EDIT
Oh, maybe you manually subtracted without showing penalties. Its really hard to tell if you are factoring everything in T_T. Regardless, I kinda want to talk to Crummock RE how hes making Hirah feel. As mentioned ages ago, if it happened again, it was going to bring things to a head.
GM Mort |
*Munches popcorn*
Problem is there are a lot of atrocities committed in this mod...you can't go around creating soul gems out of everyone :(
Hirah Cheran |
Its more that creating Soul Gems is an evil act, and Hirah hasn't seen signs that Crummock will discontinue the practise. Yes, Crummock can cast evil spells because hes an oracle, but Hirah still considers it evil magic, as well in her experience that Soul Gem's are usually created by evil outsiders. Even though Crummock can cast the spell, Hirah believes that he shouldn't.
Also hes escalating. The first two, you can claim reasons for (even though Hirah still thinks thats no excuse). This one though, was done purely because (by the looks of things), she was a hag - thats it.
Crummock, was that a retcon or did you still cast the spell.
Hirah Cheran |
Really? I think Hirah's stance is pretty justified considering who she worships and the fact that we are predominately a good aligned party. Theres a reason why we let Mr Whiskers negotiate first before murdering.

How it works for rake is you maintain your grapple(standard), then get to use rake. The pounce-rake combination is the only exception to the rule.
Universal monster rules rake: A creature with this special attack gains extra natural attacks under certain conditions, typically when it grapples its foe. In addition to the options available to all grapplers, a monster with the rake ability gains two free claw attacks that it can use only against a grappled foe. The bonus and damage caused by these attacks is included in the creature’s description. A monster with the rake ability must begin its turn already grappling to use its rake—it can’t begin a grapple and rake in the same turn.
TLDR: Start of Geist turn, maintain grapple? If maintain grapple(std action), then automatic bite dmg + opportunity to use rake. If Geist chooses not to maintain grapple, he can't use rake attacks, but can full attack
Will count only bite + claws
The bite hits a kidney and the folarren squeals in pain. One of the claws miss.
Crummock can't manage to stab the beast with his steely knife. It doesn't penetrate its leathery hide.
