Gurra-Gurra delicately picks the wine glass of Einar's hands, then carries Einar from being half under the table and lays him on a pallet. Crummock, Hirah and Greta take their night watches and the night passes uneventfully.

Einar:

You gain double hp from the night's rest! (I.e 16 instead of 8)

Day 2 in Artosa

Greta took last watch

The party awakens to the smell of seafood and smoke. Gurra-Gurra has prepared a large pot of soup with mushrooms, fishcake, soy bean puffs, Tofu and white radish for breakfast. Greta has beaten the party by already scouping herself several bowls of soup.

What would the party want to do for the day?

Male Bleachling (Gnome) Oracle (Spirit Guide) 18 (HP 219+5/219+5) (AC 49/27/38) (CMD 24) (Fort +17, Ref +25, Will +17) (Init +2) (Perception+32)

Crummock shrugs.

"The big spider beastie sucked the fortitude right out o' his body - which makes him a wee bit more susceptible to alcohol than he normally is. I guess that he forgot that might happen..."

In the morning, Crummock meditates for a while, after which his body seems far more... vibrant... than usual.

He then chain-casts Lesser Restorations until Einar is fixed...

Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 2.
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 4.
Lesser Restoration: 1d4 ⇒ 2.

...nodding in satisfaction when Einar is once again his usual hale and hearty self.

"Now, we can do some more explorin' today, but if we do so, I won't be able to rain fire down on our foes... do we want to wait until tomorrow?"

Retired to Triaxius

h my head, what did I do? ...uuhhhgggggg My mouth hasn't tasted like cat fur in years. As quickly as Einar was awake Crummock started casting healing on him, 'Ahhhh that's better.' Einar smiled a toothy smile "Thanks Crummock, sad we wasted all those potions, but I guess it was better than dying."

Helping himself to the amazing fish, mushroom and radish soup, 'Wonder if the Gurra's have any sake left, nah I better not Mister Whiskers would have kittens.' Nodding to the two headed giant, "The soup is wonderful, the radishes are a nice touch." Having woken up last, Einar finishes off the last of the soup, using a chuck of dried bread to clean the pot out with.

Smiling at Crummock, "We can go slow, if we deplete our resources we can come back here. Should we clear this first level before we drop back lower tomorrow?"

Edit: I will figure out his HP when I get home, is it ok if he used the second spell/infernal healing before he ate supper?

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Mind scoldings from Mr Whiskers. Though what really is the problem with all that infernal healing when Crummock can use his own slots to heal yourself and himself up... ;)

If ye wanna get movin' start pointing which way.

"Thanks!" Gurra-Gurra looks pleased at Einar's compliment. "Oh, Jadrenka had a tiff with her girlfriend not too long back and isn't in the best of moods. Something about unfaithfulness. A Maris...something. I can't quite remember her name."

Einar 'Kinslayer' Bjornson wrote:

"Would you like me to warm it for you Einar?" Might as well let him drink. This way at least he will sleep!

When morning comes and they start talking of more exploration, Mr. Whiskers says "I could take Fireball instead of Haste if that is what people want today. Otherwise, a day of relaxation wouldn't be all bad."

”How I came to be here, that is a interesting question is it not?” The left head says.

”Oh yes, indeed, interesting it is. You know what we are. You know what they say about our kind. I could see the suspicion in the half-orc’s eyes.” The right head answers.

”Most people just kill us on sight. They say we’re monsters.” The left head puts in mournfully.

”But we didn’t want to live short monstrous lives, to get hunted down by bands of peasants wielding pitch forks and torches. Or to get conscripted by some ettin gang.” The right head answers.

”Yes, we were meant for much more then that. We wanted to gain the respect of others. Live properly among human society instead of eking a miserable living in the wilds.” The left head continues.

”So we came up with a plan. We would study magic. If we could learn powerful magic, people would come to treat us with respect. “ The right head states.

”They would offer a place for us in town if we would do magic for them” The left head continues.

”We did our research. We heard of a changeling named Jadrenka is the Warden of Artosa and is a mighty witch. As a changeling, she would likely understand the prejudice that we face. We asked to be taken in as her disciple, and, viola, here we are.” The right head says.

”Of course, it also helps that we’re good cooks. Jadrenka just ruins her food.” The left head comments.

”You could go outside, “ The left head offers, ”But you know the witch tree already eats everything. You’d need to get down the cliff.”

The whole conversation takes place in Giant, but since Greta can translate, its just an auto translate. I won't spoiler it.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Crude stone stairs twist through the widing passage. The temperature drops sharply and a rime of hoarfrost settles on the walls. The party sees further down the passage, a lone giant, like the ones they saw attacking the Dancing Hut.

Everyone large is squeezing at the moment. That includes the giant

Mr Whiskers Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Hirah Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Mr Whiskers knowledge local: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 22
Greta knowledge local: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Party, Giant

Mr Whiskers recognizes them as frost giants. As their name says, they are immune to cold, and vulnerable to fire.

"Éber! Éber! Ape figurák, megvan a baj a folyosón!" The giant starts yelling at the top of his lungs.

Giant:

Alert! Alert! Ape dudes, we got trouble in the hallway!

Retired to Triaxius

If Einar was down 43 and he healed 20 with infernal healing and 16 sleeping, Crummock could you retcon healing the other 7 HP?
Last night
As Einar enjoyed the boar, he turns to Crummock and asks, "I know I feel terrible because of the poison, but could you heal where the blasted arachnid bit me?"

Can we move the stuff on the map? No running on stairs, so can't charge down steps right?
Looking down the steps, Seeing the Giant, Einar shrugs, "Shall we force him to climb the steps?" Drawing his bow, he fires an arrow at the frosty fellow.

@Einar: Sure!

Crummock grimaces, and tosses a spell at the Giant.

Sound Burst: 1d8 ⇒ 6 Sonic damage. DC 20 Fort save, or be Stunned for 1 round.

Highly unlikely to work, but it will be hilarious if it does!

Einar's arrow bounces off the giant's chain shirt.

The Frost Giant shrugs off Crummock's sound burst.

Now if you really had no choice but to use infernal healing, I might be more understanding. But really, at the end of an adventuring day with an oracle with spontaneous cures and available spell slots? Geesh. You didn't HAVE to do that.

Mr. Whiskers nods his agreement.

...after they mention good cooks

Mr. Whiskers purses his lips a moment in thought. "Even with healing magic, there are some humans that are monsters -- rejecting any that are different. You will want to do research on what areas would accept someone special like you."

"Avoid Ustalov. From what I've heard, they don't trust any who look different.

You might try the elves of Kyonin...I've heard that elves can be reclusive but the shared interest in magic may be enough to overcome that.

My people have traded with the Shoanti people on the Storval Plateau. If you show a respect for nature and are willing to help others, they may accept you.

I have heard that there are some small communities of what most consider outcasts. They would likely accept you."

Nodding his head, he says "Your plan seems sound to me, but you need to know that there are some areas that will never accept you. Do not let them discourage you! Know that there are places that would welcome you and work with you."

---

Now...

Nodding, Mr. Whiskers casts says "...he is calling out an alarm. Let's see if this causes him to flee or charge us..." and then he casts scorching ray at the giant.

"Elves..I don't know, don't they kill orcs and goblins on sight? And since Ettins are associated with them, won't they kill us on sight as well?" The left head asks Mr Whiskers anxiously. "Oh yes, we're definitely NOT going to Ustalov. What other small communities might be accepting of us? We're not exactly small, and might need special accommodation. We were thinking of moving to Vurnin after graduation. If it can house Centaurs, it should be able to house us."

Nature is good eating!

Shaking his head, he says "I mean recognizing that you must use what nature provides, don't waste things and do not kill just for sport. Do not over-hunt an area either. With a smile, Mr. Whiskers admits "I was going to try and go there myself, but then I got mixed up in this situation. Sometimes the road you travel isn't the one you intended to."

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

"Oh no. We never waste things. We skin them for furs, then we eat every single part of the animal. Organs included. We're hungry, hungry heads." The right head grins.

"Overhunting? What's that? Don't you just hunt and eat whenever you're hungry?" The left head asks Mr Whiskers. "Are we supposed to count whatever we ate and report it to someone?" The left head furrows its eyebrows. "Thats...bloody troublesome."

"Yeah Averaka sounds like an idea." The left head comments.

"I really don't understand how people can be so prejudiced. We're just a little bigger then the average human, and have two heads instead of one. Centaurs are part horse, yet no one treats THEM like horses." The right head grumbles.

I expect the lot of you to do your own healing after encounters/retcon it as you go into the next encounter.

I thought the Environment: Stairs page on the PFSRD said you can't run on stairs.

Also the map is still covered between our location and the visible giant, don't really want to charge into anything I can't see.

I might ready an action to attack if it walks into reach, but if its large / has a reach weapon I'd delay instead when it walks into melee so I can 5 foot and full attack.

So, is Crummock not directing his animal companion to help out Mr Whiskers? This has impacts on my action since I'd probably be summoning something to try and clear a path for him, but dont want to block any attacks / squares Crummock might want. Also whats Greta doing etc.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

Greta, being an NPC is happy to let PCs do their thing, unless it's clear to her she's the best person for the job. And in this case, it isn't clear.

Male Bleachling (Gnome) Oracle (Spirit Guide) 18 (HP 219+5/219+5) (AC 49/27/38) (CMD 24) (Fort +17, Ref +25, Will +17) (Init +2) (Perception+32)

Geist is squeezing (which, by my understanding of the squeezing rules, means that he can't squeeze down further to bypass Crummock), and can't bypass their DR effectively. Also, Crummock is on healing detail today, remember? I'll heal people out of combat, but other than that, there is not much that I have to offer.

Strange Aeons Grp 2 |

If you want Greta to pull back out of the passage, she can.

I know that you just have healing, but I was hoping that an AC could contribute something a little extra, or instead directing the NPC in Greta that takes orders from you. I guess I'm looking for any small edge that might prevent Mr Whiskers from instantly dying from three enemies.

Hirah summons a Celestial Tiger that immediately attacks the demon that Einar just hit, hoping to clear a space for Mr Whiskers.

Tiger is smiting, so hopefully that DR shouldn't matter.

Claw: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22Damage: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Claw: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22Damage: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
Rake: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22Damage: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Rake: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23Damage: 1d8 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19

I think Bite and Claw both have grab attacks that would triger Rake, but let me know if I only get the single attempt/roll.

Grapple: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (4) + 17 = 21
Grapple: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (17) + 17 = 34
Grapple: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (2) + 17 = 19

If it dies, hopefully Mr Whiskers can Withdraw out of combat and sit behind Einar or Hirah. IDK if thats possible though.

You can't pounce, so no rakes. I'll calc dmg later. You must start the round grappling in order to use rake.

Male Bleachling (Gnome) Oracle (Spirit Guide) 18 (HP 219+5/219+5) (AC 49/27/38) (CMD 24) (Fort +17, Ref +25, Will +17) (Init +2) (Perception+32)

The problem is, large sized creatures that are *already* squeezing can't move past medium creatures in the same space - otherwise I would involve Geist. Right now, the best I can do is get Greta and Geist to move back up the corridor to the fork, so that Crummock can get past them, and then send them back in.

Female Half-Orc Inquisitor 11 | HP 70/70 | AC 21 Tch 13 Fl 19 | CMB +14 CMD 27 | F +12 R +8 W +15,| Init +7| Perc +19 | Sense Motive +24 | Intimidate +25 | # Rounds of Bane per day: 11 | # of SM III uses: 8 | # of Rage Rounds: 12

I presume the reason I cannot pounce+rake is because the tiger is large sized right GM and therefore cannot pounce? If its space being an issue, Hirah and Crummock probably have move actions to give it some room, since the goal was to pounce + rake to kill anything (ie I'm open to switching a target to the smaller ones if it would still allow me to trigger pounce) and clear a space for Mr Whiskers to Withdraw.

Hmm, it would probably have been better DPR in that case to just walk up and hit it with Hirah instead.

Yeah also the space issue.

Edit:You can't pounce anywhere within the pasaageways. Actually you won't have enough space to even summon the tiger, since Einar is striking from 10 ft away and the tiger occupies a 10 x 10 foot space

K I'll attack Hirah normally before I crash.

I think if I stand adjacent to Einar (hard to see on the map), I can trigger Amplified Rage)

Attack: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 17 + 2 = 39
Damage: 2d6 + 16 + 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 16 + (4, 3) = 30
Confirm: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 17 + 2 = 31
Damage: 2d6 + 16 + 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) + 16 + (1, 6) = 32
