I've come up with appearance and personality. Still considering how best to flesh out the backstory. The barebones of it, in my mind, are that she is from a long line of Oracles who tended a sacred shrine, but she has ran away to lose herself amongst the humans.

Liberty's Edge

Interested in an OA game it's been awhile since I played in one. I'll have to read up on the Wiki tonight after work but I'm thinking a Dragonborn Barbarian.

You didn't have to take it out, it would have been interesting.

I'll add it back in, I was concerned it would effect the party and/or my application. I can do it with a Monk/Future Psychic Fist, other classes it would be more difficult. I am also finding some mistakes made from changing my mind during creation and not fixing everything that needed to changed as a I do the long character sheet here on Paizo.

Liberty's Edge

Reading through the history of dragonborn it seems like they came from another planet and according to the wiki

Background:
As I still have much to read this will be a rough draft and rather vague.

Raskul Desertscale or Ra for short, is a lone Dragonborn with no home or family to call his own. He aspires to one day reclaim his peoples great history and freeing them form slavery is a good start. Without wealth or power to accomplish his lofty goals he spends most of his days as a traveling blade for hire. He is courageous in battle and holds great pride in his heritage.

Yes, I said that. I wanted to make sure it wasn't related to Southwestern Asian culture (middle east).

The colony in the Far East has oriental flavors to it.

Draconic Glide.

Prerequisites: Draconic Aspect, Dragonborn.

Benefit: You grow a pair of wings that you can use to fall and glide at a safe pace. You can make a DC 15 Fly check to fall safely from any height without taking falling damage, as if using feather fall. When falling safely, you may make an additional DC 15 Fly check to glide, moving 5 feet laterally for every 20 feet you fall.

Special: If you have the gliding wings racial trait, instead of the above abilities, your base speed increases to 30 feet.

Not exactly sure if that means you gain a fly speed or if the gliding wings trait is supposed to decrease you base land speed to 20 and this feat fixes that.

It wasn't under the dragonborn race that was linked but I did find that part in the wiki. Still reading.

Just added a Dragonborn kingdom for those who want to know. The Dragonborn are located in a Siberic form of wilderness, but many are looking to migrate south to colonize lands south of the Middle Kingdom.

Also completed three Imperial Dragons, and working on a 4th (Qinglong).

Silver Crusade

Okay characters picked are:
An Kai Hong, Slayer of Oni
Stricia
Setsuna
Qianbei
Himiko Ojimi
Raskul Desertscale

Liberty's Edge

Awesome. Greetings everybody! (Raskul here, Katana wielding Dragonborn.)

I clock out soon and I'll work on the alias tonight when I get home, get him formatted and geared up by tomorrow night at the latest.

Cool! Congrats all and hello!

Liberty's Edge

Hello fellow lightning based Dragonborn :)

@GM Did you want me to choose an Imperial Dragon for the Draconic Aspect feat?

Silver Crusade

Well, you have more than 5 to choose from. :)

Just making sure, the currently set small size for the Azure Dragon is for a wyrmling and not for a Great Wyrm? I just want to make sure I do not pick a small dragon or Pseudo-dragonish as part of my heritage ... kind of too kinky ... LOL. I am guessing it is but assuming has gotten me into trouble before ... :-)

Wyrmling and not Great Wyrm.

Also can Dragonborn use Monster feats to bring the dragon out more or just the racial feats you have already listed? Another question, can Imperial Dragonborn use the Changeable Breath Weapon or is that only restricted to Metallic Dragons? I am just curious if that is a potential option in the future.

Imperial Dragonborn can learn the feat.

Silver Crusade

Oh yeah, I added some traits.

"Nĭ hăo! Raskul. The key to the universe is balance through Mind, Body, and Qi." Low bow

Grats for the pick. Will get an alias made for Stricia.

Wealth: 50d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 4, 6, 4, 1, 3, 6, 4, 4, 5, 2, 6, 1, 6, 2, 4, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 4, 2, 5, 1, 3, 1, 1, 4, 1, 2, 5, 5, 6, 5, 1, 6, 2, 5, 6, 6, 5, 3, 4, 2, 5) = 175

"Hajimemashite, Qiānbēi Yī. Blessings be upon you." Returned bow.

Just need to format a header with relevant information and I'll be all done.

Qian, looks at Raskul inquisitively, "Bivai si tira ti kampiun svabol wux, coi jahus ti de wer Qin (common) ooble?"

Lóngyi Yǔyán:
Sorry I did not understand the language you are speaking, it is not from the Qin (Common) tongue?

"You don't know the language of our people? Lóngyi Yǔyán? (Dragonic)"

Yeah man, just saw the Qin word for Draconic and fixed it. Actually, that is take from a Draconic translator.

"OSU! Arigato Gozaimashita! My family was originally from the West and sometimes I mix my words up. That is how they speak in the West. It's more guttural." Qian low bows once more...

Ah ... "Watashinokazoku wa nishi no shusshindattashi, tokidoki watashi wa atama ga konran suru. Tsumari, karera wa seiyō de hanasu hōhōdesu. Sore wa, yori ōku no shiwagaregoeda."

It is probably so wrong but that is taken from Google Translate of the above quote

Ok, Mandarin is Qin and Japanese is Draconic.

Silver Crusade

Qiānbēi Yī wrote:

Kind of. :)

Japanese is used as the base, but officially Ryukyuan is Japanese in the setting. But you can use Japanese to communicate Draconic, I don't mind.

alright guys, I'm working on the rules for the Zodiac. I'm taking the rules from Heroes of the Jade Oath (because Heroes of the Jade Oath is really cool!). You might want to change one of your traits to one of the Zodiac animals.

Now for the difficult decision. Sword and Board the Katana (Which historically doesn't happen), Two-Hand Power Attack the Katana or Two weapon fight Katana and Wakizashi(Which would require 3 feats.)

Link to the Traits?

Only 3 of us have checked in so far. Might want to let the others know by PM see if they are still in?

Ah here they are. On my Alternate Rules page.

Confused by the zodiac traits and how they work. Will get an alias made soon and dot the gameplay thread.

Kai took the sign of the Horse. Are you working on the other signs I would be curious to see them.

Silver Crusade

Okay, our sixth player is on vacation from paizo.

GM Elton wrote:

Can we have 3 traits since it is both a bonus and penatly? The 3rd trait has to be a zodiac animal. I like to bring out the oriental heritage in Qian but I like my current traits too. Besides, isn't a zodiac animal really important in the Orient especially in China during New Years or at least used to be in times of antiquity?

Silver Crusade

That's an interesting thought. Alright, we can try 3 traits.

So far Horse fits Qian the most. Are we starting with 1 hero point and are there any bonuses?

Switched to Rabbit. I like the line about people knowing they were bested :)

An Kai Hong, Slayer of Oni wrote:

That fits you An (aka Tristan) or the character anyway... :-)

Stricia will go with Rooster.

Since none of them seem particularly happy-go-lucky, I'm debating between Rat and Snake.

Hmm, although Horse fits, it is kind of mute for me to take it.

An Kai Hong, Slayer of Oni wrote:

An, Rabbit? That must be a typo? You better spare them Oni ... :-)

Zodiac Penalty: You don’t like to hurt people. Whether you like your opponents to live with the knowledge that they were bested by you or whether you simply just have a soft spot way down inside, the result is the same - you are merciful. Once per day, the DM can assess penalties if you do not spare someone.

Hmm, at this time, it's between a Boar(Pig) and Monkey.

Himiko Ojimi wrote:

Either will fit your character but I think Snake fits the best. Also, Monkey will work too since you are a sorcerer.

Tiger would work for Qian except for the anger management issues. I think that would have prevented him from entering his monastery.

Oni aren't people silly. Full of dark taint. What do I care if they had a familly ;)

Silver Crusade

What? none of the dragonborn want to be dragons? Boys, you astounded me.

(hehehe -- who want to be like good Statesmen anyhow?)
