Iranar Shaztub |
"Understood." Iranar hopes very much that the group does not run into any "gravediggers", as he will feel utterly horrible to have to fight against them in such circumstances.
Lamare |
"but sir, i was not a fighter when i was a quick! I was more of a traveler who had a love for food.
How can i survive an attack from a paladin of pharasma? I am no shape for battle. "
Lamare is doing his best military pose.

"Just use your claws and teeth. You must be very newly awakened -- you'll feel the call to kill the living as soon as you see them, I'm sure."
Corvalos gives the command to march, and heads off towards Corpselight, with the mummy in the front, the three skeletal undead behind him, and the six of you marching behind.
GM Paladin |
Map is updated.
As you emerge from the swamp, you see a tussle of activity ahead at the city. "Arazni's bones, it's a raid!" Corvalos exclaims. And you can see a large number of what appear to be living humans attacking the town, apparently focused on the farmsteads around the perimeter -- which you recall are the ranches where human 'cattle' are raised as food.
Corvalos points at a nearby corral, where a group of living humans in heavy armor and carrying weapons and shields are destroying the undead guards of the facility. "There -- we can corner those gravediggers in the corral. Advance!"
With the lieutenant's command, the skeletal warriors behind him ready their battleaxes and hustle along behind him towards the corral.
Assuming you follow behind him, you shortly are within tactical range of the pharasmins, just as they put down the last of the 'ranchers', who consisted of a small number of skeletal and zombie-like undead. Their leader (outlined in blue) sees your group approach, and calls out, rallying his followers, and telling the humans they came to free to pick up anything they can find, sticks, bones, rocks, or anything to defend themselves.
There are no other groups of raiders or undead defenders anywhere nearby -- this farm is an outlier, far from Corpselight.
It's going to take me a little while to set up initiatives for all these NPCs -- you've effectively merged two encounters -- so feel free to roll initiative yourself and perform no more than one round of preparation, including drawing and loading weapons, casting spells, etc.
Lamare |
ok if i understand we should have fight normaly the mommy and than the ranchers?

Milton Smithson |
So, ummmm, before we screw this up, are there any Geb military honors available on the Cert? You know, for valor in the face of the living, or some such?
Can you describe the members of the enemy host? Are they Pathfinders, or just some random group of dogooders?
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
"Now we find out if the Prince of Darkness has abandoned me just because I have died and been reborn. Accept the blessings of the Prince of Contracts."
Milton casts bless as a standard action
Draw my heavy mace as a part of a move action
Start a judgement of protection as a swift action (+2 more to AC).
I'll let you know who I view as my "allies" once I know more about the quickies we are facing.
Also, in my above statement, I deliver a secret message to my fellow Pathfinders, using the bluff skill. I'll decide what it is once I know more about the quickies.
Bluff: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (10) + 15 = 25
Iranar Shaztub |
Iranar pauses, experiencing a major moral quandry. He does not wish to attack the Pharasmins, but he also does not want to break character and risk the mission. He'll wait and see what the others do, pulling out his rod of Intensify for right now.
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Velidor Gamestalker |
Velidor will draw his Falchion until he is sure of what is going on...
Initiative: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12 and he will look around to see if there are any other living raiders...no sense walking into a trap...
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
GM Paladin |
I'm not going to give away too much about what's on the chronicle, but I'll say this -- the scenario does not anticipate you teaming up with Corvalos. Also, Bless gives a morale bonus, which undead are not affected by. You guys are, of course, but they aren't.
The leader of the trio of surviving raiders wears a tabard that prominently features the holy symbol of the Lady of Graves. They do not appear to be pathfinders, but the society is generally on good terms with the church of Pharasma. If you convince them that you are disguised living persons and are on a mission to retrieve a tome of powerful necromantic magic in order to hide it in the society vaults and keep it from being used, they are likely to be at least sympathetic, and possibly helpful -- provided that the evil undead monsters you're currently travelling with don't kill them, that is.
Velidor sees no sign of other nearby Pharasmin raiders. He can see other engagements going on further down in the valley, probably at other human ranches, or at the defenses of the town of Corpselight.
I rolled Init for Lamare and Elliot since they hadn't yet.
Init Order (Bold characters may act):

I and desna doesn't a grudge against undeath. But those people must have some nightmares.
Desna, you are here? I know that you give no obligation, just to not exploit people by using their fear or terrible prophecys. You are no Milani or Cayden. You don't order your follower to emulate you. But I know you don't like that.
I just want to run. Run from this horror. Like I always run. I love to emulate undeath. But that.
Ah Screw the mission, I am doing what right.
Lamare takes an antiplague.
You Quicks! You will need a lot of chance against the aura of despair of our mommy hahaha!
GM Paladin |
I rolled for you already, so you can take the higher of the two.
Knowledge(religion) check for Lamare: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18
Milton Smithson |
Ok, for my move action I'll move 20' forward then.
Oh, and for my allies, just us Pathfinders. And for my secret message, just for the Pathfinders, to include Pathfinders among the chattel if present. "I say we kill the Pharasmans, and stick with the mummy for now."
GM Paladin |
Fixed the map so you guys can edit it and move your characters.
Velidor Gamestalker |
@Milton-ok so let me get this straight, you are advocating assisting evil creatures to kill raiders freeing slaves...?
Lamare |
asmodeus! But next round, i channel positive to hurt undeath. That should convince the pharasmans. I can only exclude two people.
-Posted with Wayfinder
GM Paladin |
That will also hurt all the PCs you don't exclude. You guys react like undead to channeled energy. You can exclude yourself for free, so if you make sure you're not in range of more than two other PCs, you can do it. Otherwise, under the 'no pvp' rules, every player whose PC will be in the area of effect will need to provide affirmative consent to being hit by the channel.
-Veilwar- |
Veilwar will use the standard action to fire at the leader.
Shortbow: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 1 = 11
"Sorry, my hands aren't like they were when I was quick."
Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Not wanting to hit the living shows in his attack after almost hitting the undead in front of him.
Milton Smithson |
@Milton-ok so let me get this straight, you are advocating assisting evil creatures to kill raiders freeing slaves...?
Errrr, yes? The mission is to get the book, and possibly to rescue Pathfinders. The mission isn't to upset the social order of Geb and to free random chattel. I am not one of you silly Silver Crusade or Freedom's Edgers you know. We of the Dark Archive (formerly Cheliax) understand that it is the natural order that some will lead and some will serve, some will live, and some will die. My commitment is to the Society, not Andoran.
Thus my efforts above to determine if there were any other Pathfinders around, but my lack of interest otherwise in saving the prisoners. As has been stated numerous times, the Society does contain many evil people, and heck we often take on less savory missions. I am not Evil, as the rules do not permit it, neither am I good. If there were Pathfinders here to save, then I'd include the quickies in my bless as that would help to save Pathfinders.
The mummy is a powerful local guide, well placed to put us into a position of power from which we can complete our mission. By fighting at his side, we cement ourselves as loyal Gebbites in his mummified eyes, and get right to city with a military escort.
I was unable to move myself on my iOS device. I'll try later on my computer.

I consent.
Iranar Shaztub |
Seeing his allies preparing to attack the undead instead of the living, Iranar steels himself and casts an Intensified burning hands at the mummy and skeletons.
Cast defensively: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23 vs. DC 16
fire: 6d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 2, 2, 1) = 14 Reflex save DC 18 for half
I also consent to the channel positive energy damage.
Velidor Gamestalker |
I consent as well...just wondering where we are in the turn order
GM Paladin |
Everyone's taken their action, so I'm going to move the undead next, but it'll have to wait until I get home this afternoon.
GM Paladin |
"Ma fi tset aljahim!?" cries Corvalos as the waves of fire rush over him and his soldiers from behind. His dessicated, bandage-wrapped body seems particularly vulnerable to the spell.
He turns around, shocked by the sudden attack from behind.
"You! Of course -- you're a quickie in disguise! You were never performing, you fell under my dispair! Get that one! All of you! And him, too!" he says, pointing at Iranar and Velidor.
The mummy waits for the skeletons to attack and move out of the way.
One of the skeletons steps forward and strikes out at Velidor, the battleaxe glancing off the huntsman's armor. The next swings his axe at Iranar, but the wary sorceror ducks under the blade.
Now Corvalos steps forward. He has a curved sword at his side, but relies on his fists to attack. Fortunately, Iranar is ready for him, and dodges the clumsy slam.

-Posted with Wayfinder
Velidor Gamestalker |
Yes it is, apologies i should have stated that. touch AC in first range increment.
GM Paladin |
No worries, just wanted to make sure.
The musket blasts Corvalos's head into a smoking stump, and his body slumps to the ground.
Elliot is still up.
Milton Smithson |
happy to see the most dangerous adversary destroyed!
Are you kidding, there's a whole party of Iconics, right over there. I definitely see Seelah, and is that Ember the 3.0 Monk! She is going to be a bit OP for us!
Seelah will be disappointed when her smites against us don't gain the desired effect.
Elliot Feardwarf |
Elliot steps up to the skeleton in front of Veilwar and attacks it with his claws.
Claw left: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Claw right: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19 Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
GM Paladin |
Elliot swipes at the skeleton with his claws, but misses.
The third skeleton warrior steps forward, striking with his battleaxe at Iranar (7 damage to Iranar), and slashing the blade sideways to chop at Veilwar, but misses. "You're all alive, you lying bastards!" it growls.
The pharasmin soldiers don't seem to have heard the undead declare you alive, as they come out of the corral, ready to defend against you. Their leader steps out, raises his holy symbol, a silver spiral, and says a holy word, pointing at Milton.
A burst of light arcs towards Milton!
Skeleton 3: attacks with Cleave, hits Iranar, misses Veilwar

Lamare |
Lamare does his bit of luck on milton. (When you roll a 20, you roll an another and you take the better)
Milton Smithson |
If the GM permits, I'll take the following alternate d20 rolls for the above:
Bluff: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
First attack:
+1 Cold Iron Heavy Mace Hit: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 = 28
Second attack:
+1 Cold Iron Heavy Mace Hit: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 - 5 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 2 + 1 - 2 - 5 = 9
That would make my Bluff a 34, and my attack rolls a 28 and a 26.
Don't forget everyone, Bless is up.
Milton Smithson |
Ohhhhh! Disregard my second attack in its entirety! Silly me, I'm 7th level, so only a +5 BAB, and thus no second attack!
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Silly me, I do have Spellcraft!
Milton Smithson |
Really? Your statblock says you have a +10 to spellcraft. Well, no big deal, you don't seem like the type to take one for the team anyway. ;)
Yeah, just fixed my sheet, not sure why I had it jacked up. I failed the check, but you're right, Milton wouldn't have let the guy get I a cheap shot.
GM Paladin |
Veilwar, if you only took a 5-ft step, you can do a full attack; two claws and a bite.
