About Iranar Shaztub

Iranar was born into a wealthy human family with great expectations for him. From an early age it was apparent that Iranar had inherited what the family had called for generations "the blessing", which in reality is a bit of divinity that has been jumping generations in the family for millennia. He was encouraged by his parents to attend a magic school to hone his talents at the age of only 9.

While Iranar was at school, learning to use arcane magic in tune with his innate divinity, he received a letter from his mother. Iranar's father, the patriarch of the family, had suddenly and inexplicably gone into a rage, attacking both Iranar's mother and the family servants. He had later been killed by the town guard, trying to stop him from killing his wife.

Iranar never learned much about why his father suddenly went insane, but by the time he returned home a week later, his mother was already introducing him to a local half-orcish man who she said had "helped her through these difficult times", Grognard Gro-Shaztub. Only four months later, Iranar had a new baby brother, whom Grognard named "Shat". Grognard soon married Iranar's mother and adopted him as his own son, though he saw very little of Iranar over the next few years, as he preferred to stay at his magical university, away from the confusing goings-on at home.

After a few more years, Iranar returned home an apprentice Sorcerer, and got to know his half-brother, Shat, who was now ten years old, but already dwarfed Iranar physically. Iranar and Shat became fast friends, finding that Shat's brute force, when enhanced and pointed by Iranar's sharp intellect, was a strong force to be reckoned with.

At adulthood, Iranar heard rumors that the demons of the Worldwound were getting more and more restless, and he began to think that he could be of help in keeping back the hordes. He convinced Shat to go with him, heading to Nerosyan, the capital of Mendev, just in time to participate in a deadly but exciting large-scale battle for the city. During that battle, both Shat and Iranar were given field commissions by the Pathfinder Society, and they have been moving around the Inner Sea area, following the Society's plans ever since.
