Ella moves out of the shrine area and launches an energy beam at the elf who shot Annalisa.

Unfortunately, the beam of pure cold flies wild and hits the wall instead.

Alektara takes it quantitatively easy, and moves into the room, while Ella tries to catch the elf in a blast of energy, but misses.

Can't make a 23 on perception

Lysassa moves into the room and seeing how she can't get close enough to one of the enemies to use one of her preferred spells ends behind Annalisa and casts a spell which boosts her health a little bit (casting virtue Annalisa for +1 temp hp for the next minute)

Hskovati moves out of the room 20' north - can someone move me please?, readying her ranseur as she does.

Ready attak with ranseur on any enemy that shows up 10' away from her.

Moved you, right behind Ella right?

Lysassa protects her friends, as Hskovati moves into a defensive position.

From behind a pillar, a halfling emerges, who yanks her tiny blade at Rengar, and stabs him in the side, smirking.

Rapier, Rengar, Sneak vs FF: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (6) = 9

The dwarf moves towards the group, and calls forth dark energies Norgorber, give me the faith to defeat these worthless beings.

Pity forgot to rage before hand :(, think that puts me at 0 unless the pillars block it. Do the pillars block the channel energy?

No, sorry. There's not enough boron in these pillars to slow down the negative energy

Rengar is staggered, which means he can still make a single action. It means you can still rage (free action) and be back into the game.

Jolly good, can't let my character get the better of him due to a silly halfling now can I!

The hit of the halfling hit true and hard and Rengar wobbles on his legs. He eyes the source of the injury and roars loudly at the little halfling!
He regains his strength and he swings that large falchion at the tiny man and tries to bite him in his neck all the same!

With blood on his lips he yells at the others. "Get the dwarf! And I need some healing!"

Annalísa gasps with pain and surprise as the elf's arrow strikes her chest. Her visions dims and she weakly shakes her head as she struggles to retain her consciousness. Grinding her teeth, she squints and moves towards her closest foe - the dwarf, whom she tries to approach from behind before piercing at his direction with her rapier, but her swing is far too weak to make any difference.

Rapier: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

For a second, Rengar seemed to be defeated, but with a roar he regains himself, and tears the halfling apart.

Annalisa misses the dwarf, but still her swing is good enough to dispel the illusory double around him, making it clear now where the real dwarf is.

The elf snipes at Ella, but the arrow only slams in the pillar above here, and clatters to the ground, broken.

.."It looks like our party is pretty light on in combat healing..so going to to do the best I can at healing for now.."

Grunting as she get's hit by a wave of negative energy Lysassa hears Rengar's cry for healing and moves over next to him..concentrating on casting a spell
(using a standard action to begin a fullround casting of infernal healing - using my bonded amulet's spell)

"Hold still, don't move until I'm done or the spell will be wasted" Lysassa whispers to Rengar

(if I make it till the next round and nothing has changed dramatically I will finish my casting and I think I decide whom to target as I finish the casting ..so that will most likely still be Rengar, I suggest Rengar delays until after me. I will finish my casting of the spell which will give Regnar fast healing 1 for the next 10 rounds, and will immediately heal him of 1 hp due to Life School)

WIL: 1d20 ⇒ 1..Alektara winces at the pain but moves to engage the target...ECB: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12...for DMG: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Ella flanks the dwarf and swings her rapier at him.

The unholy energy washes over the reptilian paladin, sending a foul chill up her spine. The paladin glowers back at the dwarven cleric. However, seeing him already engaged by two of her allies, Hskovati hisses, and turns her attention over to the archer elf.

Hskovati closes in on the elf, weaving her ranseur as she does, and lashes out at the archer's feet.

MA 20' move toward elf. SA trip attack.

Trip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Lisa calls for an evil, dark magic - necessary for the benefit of Rengar. Alektara and Annalisa team up on the dwarf, but Alektara's stab is caught by the dwarf's armour. Ella doesn't fare any better, but Hskovati manages to throw the elf to the ground.

Dwarf smiles at the crowd huddled around him, and blasts forth another wave of mutilation.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 2 Everybody except Hskovati and Alektara. DC 10 Will for half

Rengar waits until Lysanna's spell went off.
Then he will pound some dwarf.

Hskovati calls out to the elf as he falls to the ground, her ranseur poised for another strike. "Your chance to flee hass passt. Ssurrender now, or face the judgment of Iomedae."

As she awaits the response, she frowns at the sight of the vile cleric channeling more harmful energy on her allies. I musst do ssomething about that foul cleric...

"Don't waste yer breath with them. Followers of Norgorber won't surrender! They are too stupid to."

Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Ella takes only 1 damage.

Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
concentration check because I took damage: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Lysassa grunts once more as the wave of negative energy washes over her again. Grinding her teeth and concentrating through the pain she manages to finish her spell on Rengar

(instant 1 hp healing and fast healing 1 for the next minute..so should heal you 2 hps this round..so with the 1 damage you took from the channel...you should be at 1 hp and able to slaughter some enemies)

Lysassa then moves next to the dwarf, gripping her walking stick tightly and looking threateningly at her opponent

Rengar makes his way to the dwarf and tries to smash him hard.

attack + flanking: 1d20 + 5 - 1 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 1 + 2 + 2 = 16
dmg: 2d4 + 12 ⇒ (4, 2) + 12 = 18

The wave of negative energy hits Annalísa and she collapses to the floor, barely breathing and clearly about to die.
Annalísa has 0 HP now.

Rengar, feeling in invigorated, though barely clinging onto life, steps up and cracks the skull of the dwarf, who promptly drops down.

The elf makes a shooting retreat, causing a near-fatal wound to Ella in the process.

Longbow, Ella: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 191d8 ⇒ 8

Rengar takes great pride and satisfaction in being able to destroy the two tiny men who harmed him so much this fight.
He spits on the dwarven corpse and moves up to throw a javalin at the elf.

The elf was prone, so I'm going to take a swing with the AOO, +4 since he's prone for the AOO

The paladin sighs at the elf's stubbornness as she stabs distractedly with her ranseur.

However, her pity for the enemy turns to anger as she sees the elf defiantly fire and wounding her ally. "Iomedae judgess you, and findss you lacking!" Hskovati hisses at the retreating elf, moves around the pillar to intercept the man and skewers him.

Ranseur: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25 Damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2) + 6 = 12
Crit Check: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 Damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2) + 6 = 10
One more set of damage in case it crits (x3) Damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 6 = 11

Lysassa steps next to Ella and Annalisa and cast a minor spell to bolster Annalisa to prevent her from passing out from straining herself (virtue for 1 temp hp for the next minute) while she pulls out a wand (of infernal healing) to be used on Ella in a few seconds.

Yeah, I forgot. But no sense delaying the inevitable

The Paladin strikes at the prone elf, and again. The second time, he scores a devastating him, and the elf stops moving.

Combat over

After surviving the ambush, the PCs are able to leave the Shrine of the Failed and deliver Eylysia’s cache to the Grand Lodge. The crowd gathered around the Starstone Cathedral has disbanded, and many of the locals are still horrified following Sir Reinhart’s attempt to vault the chasm on horseback, which ended with a fall into oblivion.

At the Grand Lodge, Drangle is there in person to thank the investigators for recovering the package This is an important find, and you have done well in recovering it. I'm sure you have a bright future ahead of you in the Society. Expect new assignments soon!

A few days later, a message from none other than Ambrus Valsin arrives, explaining early results of the research on the papers. (See handout).

Hskovati shakes her head at Sir Reinhart's ill-fate. Yet, she can't help but admire the man, for it was this same trial that vaulted her very own Iomedae to godhood. "Peace to you, Ssir Reinhart." The reptilian paladin voices, to no one in particular, as she returns with the group to the Lodge to report their findings.

Thank you DM Kludde. It has been enjoyable! I feel I've learned a bit about Hskovati in the process. I would love to play under you anytime.
