The apartment, save for the bed and a small table by the kitchen, is completely unadorned. Even the bedroom is free of pictures or anything giving a hint to the man's character.

You do find, however, a crumpled bank statement in the kitchen trash. Regular deposits from a familiar bank account: the one in the Caymans already found on Hutkins's accounts.

Female Human

Very interesting. Definitely taking that.

"how do you know Hofstadter, really?" where'd you meet the guy? Do you know any other people he might roll with?"

DeAndre is walking around the apartment and passively looking for anything out of place in the meticulous apartment.

"Friend of mind hooked us up. First time was in some shoddy hotel a few years ago. Other than that, I don't know much else about him."

DeAndre sees that the apartment is used frequently, but must have a hell of a maid service. It seems like it's cleaned every day or every other day. Other than that, the apartment is immaculate, and beside the unmade bed, could be a show apartment, the ones salespeople show off to sell the others.

Female Human

When did you last see Mr. Hofstadter?

"Also do you know if he talks to any of the other people on this floor frequently?"

Krista says to detective Jeffers, "I guess I saw him about a month ago."

And to detective Marston: "Don't think so. Always complained about the mundanes walking around here. He was kind of an @#!hole to be honest."

Female Human

Where were you last night, between five and seven?

Male American Spends Used: Architecture 1; reassurance 1

"Do you know at all who does the cleaning service here? They are entirely immaculate, I'd love for them to clean my place!" he says with his best charming smile.

"Can we get your contact information? And if my colleagues don't have any more questions at this time, you should probably get dressed and go home. Don't leave town though, we're investigating Mr. Hofstadter's murder."

He turns his attention to Devaroux after the girl leaves, "anything not scrubbed so well? This place looks like a forensic clean room..." His attention drifting to everyone else,"The Vic definitely had 'Organized' connections. Can this get any more convoluted?"

Male Human Police Detective

"I gave it a quick look, but let me look around again".

Buford uses his many detection abilities to give the room a good look and smell. If he finds anything he's not beyond a spend.

How does she react when Holmes tells her that Hofstadter has been murdered?

Female Human

Oops. Last post was mine.

Female Human

Before she left, did we find out if she a credible alibi for last night?

"I'm not sure. I think the landlord has a deal with one of the maid services around here. It's always cleaned up nice."

Through her cool exterior, Krista has a moment of bewilderment cross her face as Hofstadter's murder is mentioned. Anyone with any experience with falsehoods knows that this woman is genuinely taken off-guard.

"Dead? But..."

Other than Krista, there's nothing much else in the room. If checked, security footage shows Krista entering Hofstadter's apartment at 7:14 P.M. last night and not coming out. Multiple witnesses put her in the lobby going up to the room. Her revealing clothing made her hard to miss.

Security footage of the last week, maybe even two weeks is going to be what Holmes will be asking for when we get back down to the security office.

Female Human

So the drugs, the deposit slip, and the security camera tapes, are all going into evidence bags. So is it off to talk to Mr. Hutkins then about his banking practices?

Male American Spends Used: Architecture 1; reassurance 1

Before we head out with a stack of evidence, I'll use my technopathy to read the videos for a week. You said this was a nice place, are they tapes or data? If data, are they secured on the local disk or a cloud? and I'll zip through them quickly to see if I can catch anything of note. when we get back to the precinct, I'll go over them more thoroughly with a forensic geek.

Female Human

So, back to the precinct with the gathered evidence, and then back to the gym to brace Hutkins on his bank account? Has anyone had an opportunity yet to go over the fire report?

You can get the security footage from the desk clerk, who puts it on a flash drive for you. You don't see anything not matching Krista's story. Hofstadter has "visitors" every third week or so.

I don't believe anyone's followed up on the fire yet.

Female Human

Well, as the evidence has to be secured and stored, Lorena is willing to go back to the station; check in the evidence, and then spend the rest of the day going over the report of the fire.

Reports on the fire was that it was a gas leak. Marsha Collins, Duke's wife, died in the fire. The flames had a single origin point, with evidence of an explosion consistent with a gas leak.

Anamorphology 1-Point:

The investigators would not have known this then, as mutant powers and Anamorphology were such new concepts, but, looking at photos of the scene and the burn marks, you can deduce that the flames were under the command of a Fire Controller.

Female Human

Was she alone in the building when the fire broke out?
