A life-long resident of Detroit, and the daughter of a USMC infantryman and a Navy corps-woman, Lorena gave up a prestigious athletic scholarship to join the Marines; serving in Operation: Lasting Renown.
Her powers first manifested there, when she became trapped in the burning hulk of a Marine transport destroyed by a IED.
She was immediately 'recruited' to the a Special Forces/Special Powers Unit, in which she served for 3 years; leaving when she became disgusted with some of the legal abuses done in the name of 'National Security'.
